2025 Fantasy Football Divisional Breakdowns – NFC North

Welcome to one of, if not the most, competitive divisions in the NFL. The NFC North is a place where teams have very little room for error. Last Season, three teams finished with over 10 wins, and all three of those teams made the playoffs. These teams are stacked with fantasy football goodness, and each in-division matchup ends up being a fantastic time for all. There’s no time to waste; it’s time to talk about the NFC North.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.

2025 Fantasy Football: NFC North Divisional Breakdown

Detroit Lions

Looking Back on 2024

Going from 12-5 in 2023 to 15-2 in 2024, the Detroit Lions have been fantasy gold for two straight years. Each position has produced a top-10 option for managers. Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta all helped fantasy managers reach the promised land. Even Jameson Williams broke out with a strong campaign. Detroit’s offense was a juggernaut, stopped only by a defense decimated by injuries.

Looking Forward to 2025

The cast remains largely intact, except for one key departure: offensive coordinator Ben Johnson left for Chicago. Johnson was seen as the driver of Detroit’s offensive resurgence. Now the Lions must find a way to keep the magic alive with their stacked skill group.

Fantasy Relevant Players

Jared Goff, QB

Goff may not be exciting, but he’s steady. Surrounded by elite weapons, he distributes the ball efficiently. That’s all fantasy managers need to know.

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB

From his first NFL carry, Gibbs showed star potential. Entering Year 3, he remains a top-three fantasy back despite splitting time with Montgomery. He’s a first-round lock.

David Montgomery, RB

Montgomery has long been a fantasy staple. Even sharing touches with Gibbs, he delivered consistent value and near-weekly touchdowns. Expect him to remain a red-zone force.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR

The “Sun God” returns as a top-five fantasy wideout. Enough said.

Jameson Williams, WR

Williams has fought through injury and suspension but finally flashed his potential in Year 3. He’s a vertical playmaker who complements St. Brown’s possession role. His expanded usage is the key question.

Sam LaPorta, TE

LaPorta didn’t repeat his rookie dominance but still ranks among the top fantasy tight ends. He’s typically drafted after Trey McBride and Brock Bowers despite TE4 potential. Landing him in the fourth or fifth round is excellent value.

Fantasy Question Marks

None. The Lions are remarkably stable for fantasy purposes.

Fantasy Long Shots

Tim Patrick, WR; Isaac Teslaa, WR

Patrick, the veteran, and Teslaa, a third-round rookie, may contribute occasionally, but their fantasy relevance is limited to injury-driven opportunities.

Minnesota Vikings

Looking Back on 2024

The Vikings lost rookie first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the preseason, leaving the offense in Sam Darnold’s hands. To his credit, Darnold delivered a Geno Smith-like resurgence, leading Minnesota to the playoffs. Though he flopped in the Wild Card round, he kept Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison fantasy-relevant throughout the regular season.

Looking Forward to 2025

The roster is strong, but quarterback play remains the question. Head coach Kevin O’Connell must get the most out of McCarthy. Even if the rookie struggles, Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson should produce in what promises to be a high-scoring division.

Fantasy Relevant Players

Justin Jefferson, WR

Jefferson is quarterback-proof, producing with Nick Mullens, Josh Dobbs and Darnold. Expect elite numbers with McCarthy under center.

T.J. Hockenson, TE

Often overlooked, Hockenson is a reliable pass-catcher who should become McCarthy’s safety blanket. He’s a strong mid-round value.

Aaron Jones, RB

Jones enters 2025 as Minnesota’s lead back, though he’ll split carries with Jordan Mason. Drafted cheaply, he’s a solid target for zero-RB builds.

Jordan Mason, RB

The former 49er brings upside if he can outplay Jones. He’s a backfield wildcard worth watching.

Fantasy Question Marks

J.J. McCarthy, QB

Coming off an injury, McCarthy is essentially a rookie. His mobility will be worth tracking, but expectations should be modest to start.

Jordan Addison, WR

Addison’s three-game suspension dampens his WR2 outlook, but he has the talent to rebound. Think DeVonta Smith or Tee Higgins upside.

Fantasy Long Shots

Jalen Nailor, WR; Tai Felton, WR

Nailor flashed early last year but faded. He’ll see snaps while Addison serves his suspension. Felton, a rookie, is battling for depth snaps.

Green Bay Packers

Looking Back on 2024

The Packers entered 2024 with excitement after signing Josh Jacobs, stockpiling young receivers, and developing Jordan Love. An 11-6 finish and playoff berth was respectable, though perhaps underwhelming given the hype. Jacobs and Tucker Kraft stood out as bright spots.

Looking Forward to 2025

Green Bay used a first-round pick on receiver Matthew Golden, hoping to stabilize its inconsistent wideout corps. Otherwise, the offense remains steady, with Jacobs, Love and Kraft as key fantasy targets.

Fantasy Relevant Players

Jordan Love, QB

Injuries clouded Love’s 2024, but he showed rushing upside and poise in 2023. If one receiver emerges, Love could be a weekly starter.

Josh Jacobs, RB

Jacobs is a true workhorse who thrives in positive game scripts. Expect another heavy workload.

Tucker Kraft, TE

Kraft developed into one of Love’s most reliable targets. His YAC ability makes him a late-round fantasy asset.

Fantasy Question Marks

Wide Receivers: Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Bo Melton, Dontayvion Wicks, Savion Williams

Green Bay’s receiving corps is crowded. Reed flashed “Deebo-lite” potential, Golden is a first-rounder, Doubs is a steady red-zone target, and Wicks led the team in targets. It’s a guessing game each week.

Fantasy Long Shots

Luke Musgrave, TE; Marshawn Lloyd, RB; Emanuel Wilson, RB

Musgrave opened 2024 as TE1 but lost ground to Kraft. Lloyd is a change-of-pace option behind Jacobs if healthy. Wilson is depth-only.

Chicago Bears

Looking Back on 2024

Despite drafting Caleb Williams No. 1 overall, Chicago’s offense sputtered due to poor play-calling and rookie mistakes. A 10-game losing streak ended playoff hopes and cost multiple coaches their jobs.

Looking Forward to 2025

Williams now works under new head coach Ben Johnson, and the Bears invested heavily in offensive talent. Optimism is high, but the team must prove it can compete in the NFC North.

Fantasy Relevant Players

Caleb Williams, QB

Williams showed flashes but struggled with ball security and holding the ball too long. A new system should help.

DJ Moore, WR

Moore’s 2024 was inconsistent, but he remains Chicago’s top receiver. A more stable offense should restore his WR1 upside.

D’Andre Swift, RB

Swift struggled behind a weak line but remains the clear RB1. Chicago’s improved blocking should boost his efficiency.

Fantasy Question Marks

Rome Odunze, WR
The 2024 first-rounder should be a major factor opposite Moore, but Williams’ ability to support multiple weapons remains a concern.

Luther Burden III, WR

The rookie playmaker thrives with the ball in his hands. Johnson will need to design touches for him alongside Moore and Odunze.

Cole Kmet, TE

Kmet’s usage fluctuates wildly, limiting his reliability.

Colston Loveland, TE

Drafted 10th overall, Loveland projects as a pass-catching tight end in Johnson’s offense. Rookie tight ends are risky, but recent trends suggest upside.

Fantasy Long Shots

Kyle Monangai, RB; Roschon Johnson, RB

Chicago’s RB2 battle is wide open. Johnson has experience, while rookie Monangai could carve out short-yardage work. Either could emerge as a waiver-wire gem.
