2025 Fantasy Football: Mock Draft from the Second Slot

Over the next few days, I will be conducting a series of mock drafts for fantasy football. These mock drafts will be done through fantasypros.com, and I will be going over the first eight rounds. This mock draft was done from the second pick in a 12-team league. The format is full PPR, and the lineup is QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, FLEX, DEF, and K. Let’s begin.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.

Mock Draft from the 2nd Slot

1.02 – Ja’Marr Chase

This was a no-brainer. Bijan Robinson went first overall, and that left me the easiest decision ever. Ja’Marr Chase was the WR1 overall last season, and not much has changed besides the Cincinnati Bengals having a worse defense. He is tied to Joe Burrow, and the Bengals will more than likely pass over 35 times every game. With Tee Higgins across from Chase, defenses cannot double him. Expect another 1500 yards and a double-digit touchdown season from the reigning WR1.

2.11 – Jonathan Taylor

Jonathan Taylor played in 14 games in 2024 and finished as the RB12. He had over 1400 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. I do not care if it is Anthony Richardson or Daniel Jones playing quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. All in all, the offense goes through Taylor. Also, he loves playing the AFC South more than a fat kid loves cake. In Weeks 16 – 18, he played the Titans, Giants, and Jaguars. He accumulated 520 rushing yards and six touchdowns in those three games. Taylor is a must-draft for me in fantasy football.

3.02 – Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson has had poor quarterback play throughout his NFL career, and old man Aaron Rodgers. This season, he has his college quarterback, Justin Fields. Fields is dealing with a toe injury in training camp, and the severity of the injury has not been disclosed. Despite that, I believe in Tyrod Taylor to get Wilson the ball. Besides Breece Hall, Wilson is the only other reliable playmaker the New York Jets have on offense. Expect another 150 targets for the Ohio State product.

4.11 – Omarion Hampton

In other drafts, Omarion Hampton would be the RB1. Unfortunately, he was in the draft class that had Ashton Jeanty. In turn, it led to the best landing spot for him. The Los Angeles Chargers have one of, if not the best, offensive lines in the NFL. I believe Hampton will see 250 carries and finish as an RB1 in 2025. J.K. Dobbins was an RB1 for the Chargers before getting hurt, and he has a lengthy list of injuries. Believe in Hampton in 2025. At cost, I am drafting Hampton over Jeanty in fantasy football this season.

5.02 – Terry McLaurin

Terry McLaurin finally has a quarterback. He finished as the WR7 in 2024 and had his fifth consecutive season with over 1,000 yards. Also, McLaurin had 13 touchdowns, which was the most since his rookie season. Despite contract negotiations going south, the Commanders need to lock in McLaurin for the sake of Jayden Daniels’ development. If the contract does not get worked out, Deebo Samuel will be great for fantasy football in the later rounds.

6.11 – Evan Engram

Evan Engram is my dark horse to finish as the TE1 overall in 2025 for fantasy football. Bo Nix exceeded expectations as a rookie and worked out with Drew Brees this offseason. Nix loves his short routes to his tight ends, and the athletic Engram is perfect for that. With all-time great offensive coach Sean Payton, the Broncos can threaten the Chiefs for the AFC West crown in 2025.

7.02 – Bo Nix

As stated above, Bo Nix exceeded all the expectations everyone had for him last season. As a rookie, Nix finished as the QB7 and rushed for 430 yards, ranking him eighth amongst QBs. He also had the fifth-most rushing attempts at the position with 92. Tied to Sean Payton to start his career, Nix’s trajectory has flipped 180 degrees, and he will be a QB1 once again for fantasy football in 2025.

8.11 – Khalil Shakir

To be honest, I love Khalil Shakir and will draft him every chance I get. This is the WR1 for JOSH FREAKING ALLEN. He saw 100 targets in 15 games in 2024. I believe there will be another level unlocked, and Shakir could see over 130 targets in 2025. In full PPR leagues, he is an amazing choice to fill out your lineup and final FLEX spot.

Final Thoughts

I hope this mock helped you get an idea of how your draft can go in a 12-team league drafting from the 2nd slot. The next mock will be from the 3rd overall pick. Be sure to look out for it and all the other draft kit content being pumped out by the Fantrax team this offseason.
