MLB Injury Report
Felix Bautista – RP Baltimore Orioles
Félix Bautista will undergo an MRI on his shoulder tomorrow, Tony Mansolino said.
The discomfort cropped up in the seventh inning yesterday, during Bautista’s loosening routine. He hadn’t yet stepped onto the mound; Bautista was throwing heavy balls, as per his routine
— Andy Kostka (@afkostka) July 24, 2025
The biggest news of the day on Thursday happened before any game began. Felix Bautista made himself unavailable on Wednesday night, when, as he described it, something didn’t feel right. The day after that, we learned that he was suffering from shoulder discomfort, and the team didn’t want to push him any further than they had. He will undergo an MRI later today, and we should know more about the severity of the situation. From the outside looking in, this doesn’t feel promising. He was rumored to be a part of the trade mix for teams, but now it appears that one of their most valuable trade chips will remain in Baltimore. Stay tuned.
Kyle Bradish – SP Baltimore Orioles
#Orioles RHP Kyle Bradish’s 1st rehab start for High-A Aberdeen: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K’s. 37 pitches, 22 strikes.
9 pitches in 1st, 28 in 2nd. Velocity sitting around 94-96 mph and touching 97, per stadium gun.
7 whiffs, a lot with the breaking stuff. pic.twitter.com/ngfgPOwA2f

A very promising first rehab start from Bradish, who was able to show command and control on the mound. Not only did he throw 37 pitches, which is a lot for his first game back, but he had pretty good velocity. A lot of how he performs next will depend on how he feels following this start, but all in all, this should be considered a positive step forward.
Ryan Mountcastle – 1B Baltimore Orioles

Welcome back, Ryan Mountcastle. The injured first baseman had a great first game of his rehab assignment, hitting this home run off of Andrew Painter of all people. He finished the game having played in the field for five innings. While this one game is a great start, he will look to show some consistency at the plate over his next few games before returning to the Orioles at some point (likely) in August.
Andres Gimenez – 2B Toronto Blue Jays
Andres Gimenez (ankle) began a running progression in Toronto on Thursday.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider says it “went better than expected.”
— Arden Zwelling (@ArdenZwelling) July 24, 2025
Good news out of Toronto, as the Blue Jays were able to clear Gimenez to start a running progression, making him one step closer to a return to the Jays. When dealing with ankles, running is a major step forward, and with him doing it better than expected, he might be cleared for a rehab assignment soon. It’s important to note that there was no word on if he was able to pivot his feet and change directions while running, which is also and would be a big step forward.
Alek Manoah – SP Toronto Blue Jays
Alek Manoah's next step is a sim game Saturday, mainly because Single-A Dunedin is on the road and they can control his pitch count this way.
Still feels like Manoah is on track to be built all the way back up by late August or soon after. #BlueJays
— Keegan Matheson (@KeeganMatheson) July 24, 2025
Whether it’s a sim game or a real game, volume is the name of the game here, giving Manoah a chance to build himself back up to a point where he can take on a starter’s workload. That said, there is a chance that he can come back as a reliever or a long reliever, too, since his biggest value jump in dynasty leagues should be when he returns to play in 2025.
Anthony Santander – OF Toronto Blue Jays
Anthony Santander (shoulder) is returning to Florida this weekend to continue his rehab at the Blue Jays player development complex. He remains week-to-week.
— Arden Zwelling (@ArdenZwelling) July 24, 2025
Nothing new here, but rather reaffirms the notion that Santander hasn’t yet progressed to do much of anything, is a week-to-week case, and likely won’t make his return to the Jays for at least another month. Hopefully, his time at the developmental complex will help.
Houston Astros – Team Update
Joe Espada talks about some of the Astros injured players including Lance McCullers Jr., Isaac Paredes, Jeremy Peña, and Yordan Álvarez.#BuiltForThis pic.twitter.com/gjzfuelUSB
— SportsTalk 790 (@SportsTalk790) July 24, 2025
Here is a Masterclass on how to use a lot of words and air, but essentially say nothing. According to Astros team officials, Lance McCullers Jr., Isaac Paredes, Jeremy Pena, and Yordan Alvarez are all doing well and headed in the right direction. Just a reminder that whatever direction that is could be far away or up close, we don’t know. If there’s anything to take away from this, it’s that all of Houston’s players are improving.
Cristian Javier – SP Houston Astros

— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) July 25, 2025
This was Javier’s first start for Triple-A El Paso, and he looked okay while doing it. The good news is that his velocity readings showed promise, as it would appear that he is slowly regaining the form from his pre-injury days. However, the lack of strikeouts is a bit concerning. Over three games pitched, which totals seven innings of work, Javier has just six strikeouts. To compare, he has surrendered the same number of hits and has given up seven walks. He will likely need most, if not all, of his allotted time for a rehab assignment.
Jacob Wilson – SS The Athletics
Just a day off from the starting lineup for Jacob Wilson. He's available off the bench. Kotsay said they'll manage his workload with occassional days off in the second half to "make sure he stays physically strong."
— Martín Gallegos (@MartinJGallegos) July 24, 2025
Something important to note for fantasy baseball managers everywhere. Wilson may be receiving days off in the future, as the team feels that a full workload is a detriment to his health.
