My Week 4 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings bring plenty of intrigue after an action-packed Week 3. Several unexpected names cracked the top of the leaderboard, with Caleb Williams leading all QBs at 29.1 fantasy points. He edged out Jalen Hurts (29.0) and Lamar Jackson (27.0).
Geno Smith also surprised with a massive 26.1-point performance, while Josh Allen rounded out the top five at 23.0. On the flip side, big names like Patrick Mahomes (13.2), Jordan Love (12.1), and Trevor Lawrence (8.8) underwhelmed compared to expectations. With backup quarterbacks stepping up and several high-total matchups on deck, let’s break down the Week 4 QB rankings and start/sit outlook.

Marcus Mariota filled in admirably for the injured Jayden Daniels (knee), delivering 20.3 fantasy points. That makes him a fringe QB1/2 option if Daniels misses more time.
Tyrod Taylor started poorly in place of Justin Fields (concussion) but bounced back. He posted 17.7 points, good enough for QB9 on the week. Jake Browning, however, couldn’t get anything going, finishing near the bottom as QB29 with just 7.9 points.
Unfortunately, a repeat performance seems likely as he now faces a tough Broncos defense on Monday Night Football in Denver.
🔥 High-Total Games (Shootout Potential – 47+)
These matchups are the likeliest to deliver fantasy fireworks.
Baltimore at Kansas City — 48.0 (KC +2.5)
→ Lamar Jackson is coming off another strong outing and sits as QB1 through three weeks. He’s averaging 27.6 fantasy points per game. Patrick Mahomes has been quiet, but in a high-total matchup, he can still break the slate. Both are top-6 QB options.
Chicago at Las Vegas — 48.0 (LV -1)
→ Caleb Williams erupted in Week 3 and now faces a Raiders defense that struggles against mobile passers. Geno Smith should also thrive against a Bears defense allowing the third-most QB fantasy points. Both are strong QB1 plays.
Indianapolis at L.A. Rams — 49.0 (LAR -3.5)
→ Daniel Jones is somehow the QB4 through three weeks, averaging 22.7 fantasy points. He faces a tougher test against the Rams, but rushing keeps his floor safe. Matthew Stafford’s outlook is shakier, but Puka Nacua can help unlock his upside.
Green Bay at Dallas — 47.0 (DAL +6.5)
→ Jordan Love struggled in Cleveland but has otherwise been steady. He now faces a vulnerable Cowboys defense. Dak Prescott, meanwhile, took a huge hit losing CeeDee Lamb (high-ankle sprain). Without Lamb, he’s nearly unplayable outside of desperation spots.
Jacksonville at San Francisco — 47.0 (SF -3.5)
→ Trevor Lawrence is still searching for consistency. Brock Purdy may return, which would boost San Francisco’s pass-catchers.
New Orleans at Buffalo — 47.5 (BUF -17)
→ Josh Allen has QB1 overall upside but could lose volume in a blowout. Still, you never sit him. Spencer Rattler, on the other hand, shouldn’t be started anywhere.
⚖️ Mid-Range Totals (Balanced – 44 to 46.5)
These games could go either way depending on flow.
Washington at Atlanta — 45.0 (ATL +2.5)
→ If Jayden Daniels sits, Marcus Mariota is a fringe QB1. If Daniels plays, his rushing floor makes him a QB1 option. Michael Penix Jr. is only a superflex play until he proves consistent.
Cleveland at Detroit — 45.5 (DET -9)
→ Jared Goff faces a tough Browns defense, but home field helps his outlook. Joe Flacco is only viable in deep leagues.
Chargers at Giants — 44.0 (NYG +6)
→ Justin Herbert enters tied as QB7. The Giants are top-10 at limiting QBs, but Herbert’s weapons keep him safe. Jaxson Dart makes his first start and has rushing upside, but caution is wise against a strong Chargers defense.
Philadelphia at Tampa Bay — 44.5 (TB +3.5)
→ Jalen Hurts remains a locked-in QB1 thanks to his rushing ability. Baker Mayfield has been sneaky good, but the loss of Mike Evans caps his ceiling.
Jets at Dolphins — 44.5 (MIA -3)
→ Tua Tagovailoa draws a soft matchup and is a mid-tier QB2. If Justin Fields clears concussion protocol, he’s a top-20 play. If not, Tyrod Taylor is only a desperation option.
Cincinnati at Denver — 44.5 (DEN -7.5)
→ Jake Browning is off the radar. Bo Nix has been mediocre but draws a prime-time shot against a weak defense.
🛑 Low-Total Games (Defensive Grind – 43.5 or Less)
Expect slower games with run-heavy scripts.
Seattle at Arizona — 43.5 (ARI -1)
→ Sam Darnold posted back-to-back solid outings and should return QB2/3 numbers. Kyler Murray has been steady, staying in the QB1/2 mix thanks to rushing equity.
Minnesota at Pittsburgh — 41.5 (PIT +2.5)
→ Carson Wentz was QB13 last week but now faces a tougher defense. Aaron Rodgers has struggled, and QB3 numbers are most likely.
Tennessee at Houston — 39.5 (HOU -7)
→ C.J. Stroud offers a safe floor, but the game total limits his ceiling. Cam Ward is only a stash in deep superflex leagues.
Carolina at New England — 43.0 (NE -5.5)
→ Bryce Young showed promise last week and has sneaky QB2 appeal. Drake Maye has flashed upside but needs more consistency.
