Week 4 is here, and for some of you, your roster looks like it’s been through a demolition derby. Injuries, bust draft picks, and that one bench player you swore was a sleeper but is now just collecting dust; it’s a mess. That’s why we’re here.
Almost every week, someone unexpected pops: more snaps, more touches, or just enough opportunity to go from “who?” to “why didn’t I add him?” If you wait until Tuesday, the whole league will be on them. The real edge? Grabbing these guys before kickoff, not after the highlight reels.
So whether you’re plugging lineup holes, playing keep-away from your league rivals, or just hunting for the next breakout, here are the must-stash players for Week 4.

Week 4 Weekend Waiver Wire
Quarterbacks
Carson Wentz, Minnesota Vikings
Wentz came in and actually made the offense look better. He only passed for 173 yards but had 2 touchdowns. Carson did make TJ Hockenson valuable again, and that was at least a little helpful. If I were needy at quarterback, I would give him a shot this week against the Steelers. The Steelers give up the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks.
Geno Smith, Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders play the Bears in Week 4. The Bears give up the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. In Week 3, Geno passed for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns. You have a guy who will pass the ball a lot going in Week 4 if you need a streamer.
Other quarterbacks to consider:
- Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – 196 yards, 2 TDs
- Marcus Mariota, Washington Commanders – 207 yards, TD, 40 yards and a TD rushing
Quarterback Notes: I would start with Geno if available and then move to Wentz if I were looking to add a QB now. Mariota only has value if Jayden Daniels is out this week.
Running Backs
Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs
Nothing super exciting to see here. Hunt is on the downswing of his career. But he gets the ball enough in the Chiefs’ backfield to have serious use in Week 4 against the Ravens. The Ravens give up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Hunt is the goal-line back and had a touchdown in Week 3. Flex him.
Rico Dowdle, Charlotte Panthers
Chuba Hubbard is questionable with a calf strain. In Week 3, Rico’s touches went way up to 11, and he produced a total of 38 yards and a touchdown. If Hubbard misses Week 4 or is dinged up, Dowdle will carry the load and can produce for the Panthers.
Other running backs to consider:
- Woody Marks, Houston Texans – 7 touches, 26 total yards
- Chris Rodriguez, Washington Commanders – 11 carries, 39 yards
- Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams – 8 carries, 53 yards
Running Back Notes: These players are really all handcuffs. Dowdle and Hunt look like they will be playable this week. It is hard on those waiver wire streets.
Wide Receivers
Christian Kirk, Houston Texans
Kirk is finally coming back to the lineup. The matchup in Week 4 is favorable against the Titans. The Titans give up the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. He is a nice speculative add.
KaVontae Turpin, Dallas Cowboys
When CeeDee Lamb got injured, Turpin’s snap count went up to 60%. He is fast. He is so fast that he makes fast people look slow. Turpin saw 3 targets in Week 3, but he turned that into 2 receptions for 64 yards. If you play in a league with return yards, he is a must-add.
Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee Titans
The fantasy community is huge on Elic right now. Ayomanor has had touchdowns in 2 straight weeks. He has not seen more than 6 targets yet in a game. This is a low-volume and touchdown-dependent player.
Other wide receivers to consider:
- Sterling Shepard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 5 targets, 4 receptions, 80 yards
- Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers – 2 Targets, 2 receptions, 25 yards, TD
- Tyquan Thornton, Kansas City Chiefs – 9 targets, 5 receptions, 71 yards, TD
Wide Receiver Notes: Believe it or not, I like all three of the wide receivers and others to consider more than I like Elic Ayomanor in Week 4. If Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are out, Shepard has huge value. Thornton is someone I am playing this week; I would have had him higher, but other players are coming back to the lineup in Kansas City.

Tight Ends
Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars
Strange had 7 targets in Week 3. He turned that into 6 receptions for 61 yards. It appears the Jaguars have issues getting the ball downfield, which means Trevor Lawrence will look to more short passes. Hello, Brenton Strange.
Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns
I am talking about Fannin yet again. He plays 64% of the snaps. Fannin is tied for second on the team in targets with 18 and leads the Browns in receiving yards with 136. The Lions are up in Week 4, and the Lions give up the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends.
Tight End Notes: Tight end is thin; these two are the only tight ends I would consider adding at the moment, and I don’t think they are super exciting. But both can give you a floor, and we all love floor play.
