We are in a different era of the NBA. That shouldn’t be a surprise, as things always change and evolve. Most of it is good, but let’s be clear: no one really likes change. One of the phrases that has become increasingly abundant is three-and-D. Let’s be real, though, at this point, just about everyone attempts three-pointers. Yes, there are some who are clearly better than others, but analytics have taken over the league. In fact, stats and numbers have really taken over life. With that being said, it’s becoming increasingly important to target production from beyond the three-point line. If that’s what you are looking for prior to the 2026-27 fantasy basketball season, let’s take a look at a few options who should be on your radar.

Best Players to Target for Three-Pointers
Egor Demin, G, Brooklyn Nets
Demin is quickly becoming one of those players I’d like to scream from the rooftops about. One of the things we seek, I know we are greedy, is balance. Yes, we want those three-pointers, but we want a lot of other things as well. Last season was a true introductory and rookie season for the 19-year-old guard. The Nets knew he was raw when they drafted him eighth overall, and he was very much a work in progress.
Entering the 2026-27 season, the Nets are no longer purely focused on tanking. They are now looking at turning the corner and truly trying to win some games. With that, this is shaping up to be a very different season for Demin. Beginning in the summer league, the young guard now understands what the paint is. He showed both the willingness and ability to not only get into the paint, but also produce when he got there. Demin is a stronger, more comfortable, and confident guard entering the season.
What his true strength was last season was the ability to knock down three-pointers. Demin averaged 10.3 points per game, with the majority of that coming from his 2.4 three-pointers per game. He averaged 25 minutes per game last season, and should pick up a few more minutes this season. More importantly, Demin is going to be more comfortable. His 3.3 assists per game from last season should also increase. The benefit here is that we get upside and production aside from Demin’s ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc.
Reed Sheppard, G, Houston Rockets
Drafted third overall in 2024, the future is still bright for Sheppard. Last season, due to the season-ending injury to Fred VanVleet, Sheppard was forced into a larger role. While he averaged 13.5 points, 1.5 steals, and 2.8 three-pointers per game, you could argue that Sheppard was miscast.
Thrust, unexpectedly, into a role that he wasn’t necessarily suited for or ready for, Sheppard performed to mixed results. Now, VanVleet is back, and Sheppard has a critical year of experience under his belt. While he’s likely headed back to the bench, you could argue that he’s going to be better off from a fantasy perspective.
Sheppard can come off the bench as a true source of offense. We know that he can shoot, score, and generate steals. He’s now going to have reduced responsibility with regard to the offense. That means Sheppard can focus on himself and his strengths. The expectation is that it works to our advantage from a fantasy perspective.
Isaiah Joe, G, Detroit Pistons
Nothing against Duncan Robinson, but he doesn’t exactly count as competition we should be scared of. The same can be said of Kevin Huerter. That means there are limited options to playing time for Joe. After spending the last four years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, it should be a little easier for Joe to find playing time.
The Pistons focused on necessary upgrades to their depth this offseason, and Joe was a large part of that. The guard should help with the spacing as he looks to score in double figures for the third straight season. A large part of his production does come from what he does beyond the three-point line, and that should continue this season.
Last year, Joe averaged about 2.5 three-pointers per game while shooting a career-high 89.4% from the free-throw line. Both should prove to be assets to your fantasy team this season.
