Welcome to our Week 5 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings!
Last week brought a lot of welcome bounce-backs from several quarterbacks. Drake Maye finished as the overall QB1. He did this even in a matchup against Josh Allen, the consensus QB1 overall heading into Week 4.
Along with Maye, Jared Goff got back on track with 20.5 fantasy points. Patrick Mahomes bounced back with 17 fantasy points to finish just outside QB1 range. Furthermore, Bryce Young proved he belongs in the QB1 conversation for the rest of the season. He dropped 21.5 fantasy points for a QB6 finish.
Additionally, there were plenty of surprises. Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, and C.J. Stroud finished as the QB3, QB4, and QB5, respectively. Meanwhile, Jameis Winston looked like his old Buccaneers self. He garnered 20 fantasy points, finished as the QB8, and took full advantage of an exploitable matchup against the Cardinals.

Week 4 Duds & Bounce-Back Targets
On the flip side, Week 4 gave us a fair amount of duds. Perennial dud-list quarterback Justin Herbert just cannot seem to get things going, finishing as the QB27 with 11.6 fantasy points. Matthew Stafford struggled mightily against the Eagles to finish as the QB26 with 11.7 points; Trevor Lawrence had a ho-hum week, finishing as the QB23 with 13.1 points; and Jalen Hurts remained one of the most disappointing fantasy players this season with just 13.5 points.
But Week 4 is behind us, and it is now time to look forward to Week 5!
Without further ado, here are my Week 5 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings!
Tier 1: League of His Own
1) Josh Allen (@ LAR)
Josh Allen (QB1): Yes, Allen is traveling to Los Angeles to face a very stingy Rams defense that allows the 11th-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks, but it’s Josh Allen. Expect this to be a barnburner of a game where Matthew Stafford will be pushing the envelope on the other side. As Terrell Owens famously said, “Getcha popcorn ready.”
Tier 2: Elite QB1s
2) Matthew Stafford (vs. BUF) | 3) Jared Goff (@ ARI) | 4) Trevor Lawrence (vs. PHI) | 5) Jacoby Brissett (vs. DET)
Matthew Stafford (QB2): Speaking of Stafford, he hosts a Bills defense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. You can bet he will look to bounce back in a big way after being silenced by the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Put this game on your calendar and cancel all your plans to watch it.
Jared Goff (QB3): I expect nothing less than a classic shootout when the Detroit Lions travel to Arizona. The Lions give up far and away the most fantasy points to quarterbacks at 29.0 points per game, and the Cardinals are not too far behind, allowing the fifth-most at 22.5 points per game.
Jacoby Brissett (vs. DET): Brissett gets the other side of this high-scoring environment against Detroit’s vulnerable secondary. He has shown, dating back to last season, that he can put up incredible fantasy numbers when called upon. Make him a priority add if you are searching for answers under center—he is a prime solution this week.
Tier 3: High-End QBs with Upside
6) Joe Burrow (@ MIA) | 7) Jayden Daniels (vs. NYG) | 8) Brock Purdy (@ SEA) | 9) Drake Maye (vs. LV) | 10) Dak Prescott (vs. TB)
Jayden Daniels (QB7): While a dislocated left elbow is concerning, as long as Daniels has a healthy right arm and healthy legs, he will always be in the running for QB1 status. This week is no different as he faces a Giants defense that has surrendered the 12th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the last three weeks.
Tier 4: Talented with Matchup Volatility
11) Jalen Hurts (@ JAC) | 12) Jameis Winston (@ WAS) | 13) Bo Nix (@ LAC) | 14) Tyler Shough (vs. MIN) | 15) Jordan Love (vs. CHI)
Jameis Winston (QB12): Classic Winston was on display last week as he threw for three touchdowns against two interceptions while securing the win. He is riding a real-life hot streak and gets a prime matchup against a Commanders defense allowing the second-most fantasy points to quarterbacks on the season.
Bo Nix (QB13): Nix has been relatively disappointing compared to expectations entering the season, but he still possesses an excellent supporting cast. Newcomer Jaylen Waddle found the end zone last week and should continue to build momentum. Expect Nix to post a solid performance against a Chargers defense allowing the 11th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks.
Tier 5: QB2s with Some Upside
16) Kyler Murray (@ NO) | 17) Sam Darnold (vs. SF) | 18) Kirk Cousins (@ NE) | 19) Tyson Bagent (@ GB)
Kyler Murray (QB16): It is time to temper rest-of-season expectations for Murray, as he has not quite looked the part over the past few weeks. Some grace is warranted given Justin Jefferson’s missed time, which impacted the chemistry built all off-season. He faces Tyler Shough in New Orleans this week, and while the Vikings defense may keep the overall score manageable, the Superdome environment could spark scoring. Expect Murray to put up serviceable mid-QB2 numbers.
Tier 6: Floor QB2 Options
20) Geno Smith (vs. CLE) | 21) Aaron Rodgers (vs. IND) | 22) Michael Penix Jr. (vs. BAL) | 23) C.J. Stroud (@ TEN)
Tier 7: Deep Superflex & Desperation Plays
24) Malik Willis (vs. CIN) | 25) Justin Herbert (vs. DEN) | 26) Deshaun Watson (@ NYJ) | 27) Jalon Daniels (@ DAL) | 28) Tyler Huntley (@ ATL) Justin Herbert (QB25):
Justin Herbert (QB25): While Jalen Hurts has been disappointing, no quarterback has been harder to trust than Herbert. Through four games, he is the QB23 with fantasy finishes of 14.3, 9.9, 13.7, and 11.6 points. There is no clear end in sight to his cold streak, even at home against a staunch Broncos defense playing elite pass defense.
Tier 8: Emergency Options
29) Daniel Jones (@ PIT) | 30) Cam Ward (vs. HOU)
