2026 Fantasy Football: Week 5 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers

The fantasy gods continue their barrage of injuries across all positions in NFL football. Marcus Mariota, who was already filling in for an injured Jayden Daniels, went down with a knee injury. That brought their third quarterback, Athan Kaliakmanis, in off the bench. Lamar Jackson left the game with an ankle injury, bringing in Tyler Huntley. Of course, Mariota was one of the quarterbacks mentioned in last week’s Sleepers and Streamers article. Which brings us to the full-transparency report from said article.

Kyler Murray failed to deliver the expected fantasy production. He did throw for 247 yards, but failed to generate a score with either his arm or his legs. He finished as the QB26 for the week.

Marcus Mariota, as previously mentioned, left hurt. It is improbable to think we can predict injuries, but this call did not work out as expected.

Daniel Jones was also a complete miss. He threw for only 143 scoreless yards, also surrendering an interception. Jones tacked on a rushing touchdown to somewhat salvage his day, but also lost a fumble because he’s Daniel Jones.

All in all, it was not a great week for the sleepers and streamers, and another reminder to always be refining the process.

As an early reminder, bye weeks start this week. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers are both on bye this week.

Let’s get into this week’s meat and potatoes.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune this season.

2026 Fantasy Football: Week 5 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers

Matthew Stafford, LAR vs. BUF – Upside Streamer

Matthew Stafford enters Week 4 as the QB18 in fantasy points per game. He is currently fourth in the league in passing yards (1,189) but tied for 13th in passing touchdowns, with just six on the season. It does not help that he also has six interceptions. However, there are some definite positives to lean on this week.

The Rams host the Bills this week. Thus far, they allow the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Through four weeks, they allow an average of 275 passing yards and 2.3 passing touchdowns per contest. Three of the four quarterbacks they have faced have thrown two or more touchdowns against them.

The Bills should show up angry after their upset loss to the Patriots last week. Expect Josh Allen and company to be looking to score and Stafford to be firing back. This game has high scoring potential, and Stafford is a gunslinger who just got his favorite receiver back. The upside is 300 yards and three touchdowns. He is in the streaming conversation for this week.

Jacoby Brissett, ARI vs. DET – Sleeper

Jacoby Brissett comes in as QB22 in fantasy points per game. He is averaging 204 passing yards and 10.7 rushing yards per game. In four games, he has either thrown for 275 or more yards or thrown two touchdowns. He also has a rushing touchdown under his belt. While far and away from being the best in the league, a good matchup dials up the pass attempts.

Meanwhile, the Lions, once a kneecap-biting defense, have been generous to opposing quarterbacks. They surrender the most fantasy points to the position and gaudy weekly averages. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging an outlandish 326.3 passing yards and 3.0 passing touchdowns per game. That barely qualifies as kneecap nibbling.

Sidenote: they are also friendly to opposing tight ends. This could be a huge game for both Brissett and Trey McBride, putting the former in a good spot for streaming this week. The Lions have become one of the premier opponents for fantasy scoring purposes. It is the perfect blend of a high-powered offense and defense that almost invites scoring. Brissett is an upside streamer for this matchup with low-end QB1 potential.

Jordan Love, GB vs. CHI – Streamer

Love has been Jekyll and Hyde through four weeks of play. He is the QB17 in fantasy points per game. In two of those games, he has thrown for 300 or more yards, while in the other two, he has thrown for less than 200. The one consistent thing he has going for him is that he has thrown for two touchdown passes in all four games.

The Bears are a tougher matchup, allowing the tenth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks. Bryce Young smoked them for over 350 yards and three touchdowns back in Week 1; since then, they have settled in. They have not allowed over 200 yards passing since, but they did allow Geno Smith to throw one last week.

Divisional matchups always seem to draw out some of the most fantasy-productive and entertaining games. As of the time of this writing, it is unclear who will be under center for the Bears, but Tyson Bagent is the current expected starter. He played calm and poised last week against the Jets and led them to multiple scoring drives.

Love enters this week of games as a high-end QB2 / low-end QB1 and lands in the streaming conversation.
