We get to welcome back Jahmyr Gibbs and Chase Brown from their bye this week. Breece Hall is still expected to be sidelined with a quad injury. Cam Skattebo might be benched, and do the Philadelphia Eagles even have a healthy running back? The Week 7 byes mean we are without James Cook, Bhayshul Tuten, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, and Omarion Hampton. To say that running back situation is a bit stressful might be an understatement. Let’s try to make sense of it and dig into our Week 7 NFL running back rankings.

Running Back Notes
Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders
We are now into the second season of Jeanty underperforming, and it’s unclear what we can truly expect from him. This isn’t at the point of benching the second-year running back, as he’s simply too talented. It also doesn’t help that he was likely a late first- or early second-round draft choice.
Jeanty did rush for his first touchdown of the season last week, but it was his second straight rough performance. It’s now two games in a row in which Jeanty only had 10 carries each, for 27 and then 22 yards. Things have gone downhill since Jeanty carried the ball 23 times for 102 yards in Week 1. It’s also not surprising that Washington tied his career high with nine carries while gaining 43 yards.
With 26 catches for 251 yards and two Week 1 touchdowns, it’s Jeanty’s role as a receiver that has kept him fantasy relevant. Jeanty is gaining 69% of his yards after contact, so exhibit some patience as difficult as it may be.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
Will Barkley return in Week 7? I sure hope so, and I know that I’m not alone. The Eagles are desperate, to say the least, for a healthy running back. Barkley is also their best option, and one of the better running backs in the league. With Jalen Hurts sidelined for the season, Philadelphia also needs him more than ever.
With the Dallas Cowboys allowing 150 rushing yards per game, it couldn’t be a better matchup for Barkley. He’s still looking for his first touchdown of the season, but Barkley is averaging 5.1 yards per carry on 36 carries. If he’s healthy and can take the field, Barkley could be one of the best options of the week.
Ollie Gordon, Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins were another team on bye last week, and that means we get Gordon back as well. With De’Von Achane out for the season, Gordon is now the lead running back for a Miami team that’s simply not very good. I’m not sure the bye week will help change that as the Dolphins are still looking for their first victory of the season.
After finding his way into the starting lineup, Gordon has performed to mixed results. After gaining 41 yards on 17 carries in Week 3, Gordon followed that up with nine carries for 100 yards and then 18 carries for 88 yards. He’s averaging five yards per carry with three touchdowns, and while the Dolphins offense leaves a lot to be desired, Gordon could be a bright spot. This week, Gordon faces a Jets defense that has allowed the 11th most points to opposing running backs this season.
