We know that multiple wide receivers are needed. The question, though, is when we should strike at the position and which players we should target. Aside from following the rankings, there are clear drop-offs in talent at the position that must be managed. Following our 2026 fantasy football wide receiver tiers can help to maximize your draft. Let’s a take a look at how things line up for the upcoming season.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune this season.
Wide Receiver Notes
Mike Evans, San Francisco 49ers
Previously, Mike Evans was the picture of consistency. Maybe he would be beat up a little bit and miss a few games here and there, but Evans was generally healthy and on the field the majority of the time. If there was an NFL season that he was playing in, Evans was going to surpass the 1,000-yard mark. And then last year happened. Evans only made it through eight games, and he finished with just 30 catches for 368 yards and three touchdowns. We don’t need to spend more time on his resume, other than that Evans is very good. He’s a huge, dependable target with six seasons of double-digit touchdowns.
However, he’s also a 33-year-old receiver joining a new organization for the first time in his career. And guess what, Evans has been dealing with an adductor injury over the last few days. The timeline for Week 1, as it relates to practice and playing, San Francisco has a Thursday game, is tight, but it’s easy to feel good about Evans overall.
He joins a strong offense in San Francisco with a legitimate quarterback in Brock Purdy. With Ricky Pearsall sidelined, Evans will be the main downfield threat as well.
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets
Last year was a true mess for Wilson and the Jets. Injuries meant he played just seven games last season, and I’m comfortable just erasing it from our memories. At any point in Wilson’s career, it’s not like he’s had league-average quarterback play, but he still eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark each season.
By no stretch are we going to say that Geno Smith will be an elite quarterback, but the Jets’ offense could be the best it has been throughout his career. This means we could finally get to see what Wilson’s truly capable of.
Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders
We know that the Raiders offense will run through Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers. There is room for more weapons though, and one of them should be a wide receiver. Last season, you had try very hard, and probably lie, to find much good to say about the Raiders’ offense. While they aren’t competing for a playoff berth this season, things will certainly be better.
The offensive line is improved, and with Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza under center, there should be some downfield aspect to the Raiders’ offense. That means Tucker, who still caught 57 passes for 696 yards and five touchdowns last season, should have a major role. Last season, he had 28.4% of the Raiders’ team air yards and 18.5% of their team targets. Nothing has changed to negatively impact Tucker’s standing on the depth chart. That means, if the overall offensive pool improves, would it be surprising if Tucker came close to, or eclipsed, the 1,000-yard mark?
Tier Definitions
Tier 1: These are your first-round studs
Tier 2: I’m comfortable securing my WR1 here
Tier 3: Legitimate WR2 territory
Tier 4: This is WR3/Flex territory. There are some questions and concerns, and we could be looking at matchup plays, but they’ll likely be starting most weeks.
Tier 5: All players should be drafted here. Things need to go right, but it’s possible for there to be true fantasy value. You will get occasional starts out of this tier.
Tier 6: Take your shot to fill out the remainder of your bench. Things need to change for them to have value, but it’s possible.
