Going from Week 1 to Week 2 can be a tricky spot when breaking down NFL player props. We have to find the right balance between what we learned from the season openers and what these teams have shown us over the past few seasons.
Week 1 can give us some valuable clues, but we also have to remember that teams change. Some defenses are running different schemes, while certain offenses are operating under completely new philosophies. That makes it important not to overreact to one game, while still paying attention to the trends that could carry over. Here are the best bets for Week 2.

NFL Week 2 Prop Plays on DraftKings
Kaelon Black Over 9.5 Rush Attempts -107
Black saw a bigger role for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 than many expected. He carried the ball 14 times while playing 43.1% of the offensive snaps and averaged a solid 4.6 yards per carry. In Week 1, Miami allowed Ashton Jeanty and Mike Washington Jr to run all over them. San Francisco is currently a 13.5-point favorite. If the 49ers build a comfortable lead, coach Shanahan should limit Christian McCaffrey’s workload and keep him fresh whenever possible. That creates an opportunity for Black to see another solid workload, especially in the second half.
Wandale Robinson Over 4.5 Receptions (+122)
Robinson only needs five catches to cash this prop, and the game script could put him in a strong position to get there. Cam Ward should be under plenty of pressure, while Tennessee could also find itself playing from behind.
Robinson went over this number in Week 1, catching six passes on his opportunities while spending 79.4% of his snaps in the slot. The matchup is another reason to like it. Cooper DeJean was targeted nine times by Washington and gave up seven receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. He also allowed 30 yards after the catch.
PFF currently ranks DeJean 77th among 82 qualified safeties, which gives me even more confidence that Robinson can stay involved underneath and rack up receptions.
This is a gift by the books.
Chris Godwin Over 3.5 Receptions -152
We cashed this one last week; thank you, Parker Washington. So why not go right back to it? Godwin caught all four of his targets against Cincinnati in Week 1, and the matchup against Cleveland gives him another opportunity to stay heavily involved. He should spend plenty of time working from the slot, where he gets a favorable matchup against Myles Harden.
According to PFF, Harden allowed receptions on all four of his targets in primary coverage last week, giving up 54 yards and a touchdown while allowing a perfect 158.3 passer rating.
Washington also found success attacking the Browns over the middle, finishing with five catches for 83 yards and a TD. Cleveland has generally been a respectable run-defense team, which could push Tampa Bay toward a heavier passing approach.
That should mean another healthy target volume for Godwin and plenty of chances to hit this with ease.
Patrick Mahomes Over 220.5 Pass Yards -113
Mahomes has absolutely crushed this number in his career against Indianapolis. In three career games against the Colts, he has thrown for at least 262 yards every time.
Yes, Mahomes is still getting back into rhythm, but this matchup gives him a chance to put together another big passing performance. Indianapolis just allowed Baltimore to pile up more than 500 total yards in Week 1. The Colts also use plenty of Cover 3 and Cover 2 concepts, which can create opportunities for Mahomes and the Kansas City offense to attack underneath and take advantage of quick-hitting concepts.
With Rashee Rice and the rest of this offense capable of creating yards after the catch, I don’t think Mahomes needs a massive downfield passing game to clear 220 yards. If Kansas City is forced to keep throwing, this number is very manageable.
