Goalie Sleepers to Target in 2026-2027 Fantasy Hockey

Goaltending in the NHL has started to change in recent years. Gone are the days when a goalie would start 60-plus games, as teams have shifted toward a tandem or choosing not to overwork their starter. Therefore, more goaltending options have become available for fantasy hockey, but if you miss out on the All-Stars, here are three goalie sleepers who could turn out to be huge values in your fantasy hockey drafts this year.

The 2026-27 NHL season will be here before you know it. Make this the season you add fantasy hockey to your Fantrax repertoire! Head on over to Fantrax.com to see Fantasy Hockey done right!

Sleeper Goalies to Target in Fantasy Hockey

Jake Allen – New Jersey Devils

Following Jacob Markstrom’s departure from the Devils, Jake Allen has become the starter for New Jersey at the age of 36. Now, I’m not saying to rely on Allen as a primary goalie on your fantasy team, but he can be a formidable option to pick in the later rounds of the draft. Last year, Allen managed to record 17 wins with a .903 save percentage despite the Devils missing the playoffs. However, with Jack Hughes returning to full health and New Jersey acquiring many new forwards, Allen could be worth taking a chance on, especially if the Devils show early signs of improvement.

Anthony Stolarz – Toronto Maple Leafs

This season, Anthony Stolarz will return to playing behind Sergei Bobrovsky, but this time on a different team. Both men were teammates on the Florida Panthers, and after two years, they have reunited with the Leafs acquiring Bobrovsky in the off-season. Although it seems like Stolarz has returned to a backup position in Toronto, I would still consider stashing the 32-year-old, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Bobrovsky. Last year, the Russian netminder posted the worst numbers of his career, and at the age of 37, it might be difficult for him to stay healthy. Therefore, Stolarz could wind up playing more games than expected if Bobrovsky struggles in the crease, or if Toronto decides to split time between both goaltenders.

Alex Lyon – Buffalo Sabres

So long as Connor Hellebuyck doesn’t get traded to the Sabres, this would be a great move for fantasy managers. Alex Lyon and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen were one of the best tandems in hockey last year, and this season should be no different. Luukkonen is still the official starter, but the Sabres heavily relied on Lyon last season, accumulating 20 wins in 36 games. Most importantly, Lyon overdelivered, recording a .906 save percentage and having three shutouts to his name. Buffalo topped the Atlantic division last year, and if they prove to be playoff contenders again, Lyon should play multiple games and would be a steal in later rounds.

True starters often get taken in the draft quickly, so if you don’t prioritize a goaltender early, the names above shouldn’t be hard to obtain with a low pick. In regard to Stolarz and Lyon, it would be wise to target Bobrovsky and Luukkonen as well if you’re looking to utilize a tandem this year.
