Some would say it is “too early” to be looking ahead to players who will be NFL Free Agents in 2027. I completely disagree, especially if you play in Dynasty Fantasy Football formats. Being ahead of the curve in general helps you capitalize on value gaps in Dynasty, especially when you can capitalize on acquiring players either for free (waivers) or for a low cost in trades now for a value rise later. One way to gain a potential edge can be to scan the future Free Agency landscape, identify the potential impacts, and make a move based on that analysis.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax this season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune next season.
I have a series of players to “stash” in Dynasty Fantasy Football, based on what could happen in 2027 Free Agency. By “stash” I mean to either pick up off waivers (some leagues have shorter rosters) or to acquire via trade. These players will be “stashed” on your benches for the most part, unless they win a role this season or fall into one due to injury. The acquisition via trade could be in a deal that is bigger, with players suggested as add-ins to a trade. There is a world where Free Agents re-sign with their current teams and wipe these suggestions, landing spots be a negative impact, or teams sign other players, but that is the risk we take with this. The risk should as of today, be a low-cost one with the potential reward being higher later. Let’s get it
2027 Free Agency: Players to Stash for Dynasty Fantasy Football
1. Demond Claiborne (RB, Vikings)
The Vikings selected Demond Claiborne out of Wake Forest in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. There are several reports that the Vikings’ front office were fans of Claiborne’s for months, and traded up in the NFL Draft to acquire him. Claiborne finished each of his final two college seasons with over 900 rushing yards, double-digit rushing touchdowns, and over 20 receptions. Claiborne showcased his speed at the combine, running a 4.37 on the 40-yard dash.
Both Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason will be Free Agents in 2027. Jones is 32 and Mason 27, so there may not be much interest from the Vikings in bringing either back and paying for it. Claiborne can be a special-teams factor as a rookie, but if both Jones and Mason are gone in 2027, he could have a larger role and create a potential committee for the Vikings’ backfield.
2. Nick Singleton (RB, Titans)
The Titans selected Nick Singleton in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Singleton produced 4,448 total scrimmage yards and 54 total touchdowns through four seasons at Penn State, while sharing a backfield with Commanders rookie running back Kaytron Allen. Singleton is known for his dual-threat, playmaking abilities.
Both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears will be Free Agents in 2027. Pollard is 30 years old, and Spears has not done much to earn a contract extension. Singleton is talented enough to fight for some sort of team role for the Titans in 2026, but there is also the path in place for him to be the lead back for a growing Titans offense in 2027. Even if Singleton earns the 1B spot in a committee for 2027, that would mean a huge Dynasty value rise later on. Singleton has the DNA of a guy who could be a huge asset for Fantasy Football, as long as he is earning consistent work.
3. Tahj Brooks (RB, Bengals)
Tahj Brooks was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Bengals, out of Texas Tech. I was a big fan of Brooks’ production as a prospect, especially with him rushing for over 1,500 yards in back-to-back college seasons, scoring 27 rushing touchdowns across those final two seasons, and finishing three seasons in a row with over 25 receptions. Brooks only finished with 17 touches as a rookie in 2025.
Chase Brown has been awesome for the Bengals as their lead back, but he will be a Free Agent in 2027. My guess is the Bengals will give Brown the payday he deserves, but nothing is ever guaranteed. In a world where Brown does not get extended, Brooks could find a path to extended work in the future. Even if Brown does get extended, Brooks can find a path to being a solid handcuff to roster anyway for Fantasy Football, which is value in itself.
4. Sean Tucker (RB, Buccaneers)
Here are the Sean Tucker flashes so far through his career:
- 2025: Seven rushing touchdowns on 86 rushing attempts
- 2025 – Week 11: 19 rushing attempts for 106 yards, two rushing touchdowns, two receptions for 34 receiving yards, receiving touchdown, 34.0 Fantasy Points
- 2025 – Week 8: 12 rushing attempts for 42 yards, rushing touchdown, 10.2 Fantasy Points
- 2024 – Week 6: 14 rushing attempts for 136 yards, rushing touchdown, three receptions for 56 yards, receiving touchdown
Small sample size, but I see upside in scoring touchdowns and in production when earning touches. Tucker will be a Free Agent in 2027, which could mean an opportunity for a larger role on a new team, which would raise his Dynasty Fantasy Football value.
5. Malachi Fields (WR, Giants)
Malachi Fields was selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Giants, out of Notre Dame. Fields is coming off of 630 receiving yards and five touchdowns on a run-heavy, Jeremiyah Love + Jadarian Price Notre Dame squad. Fields produced over 800 yards in the two seasons before Notre Dame, for Virginia.
Malik Nabers will return from his torn ACL and meniscus tear from last season, and should operate as the team’s alpha WR1 moving forward. The Giants have added depth to their wide receiver room this offseason outside of Fields, to create competition for the WR2 and WR3 role with Wan’Dale Robinson now a Titan. In 2027, all of Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin, Odell Beckham Jr., Jalin Hyatt, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Braxton Berrios, and Isaiah Hodgins will be Free Agents. Fields has a path to fighting for reps as a rookie, but an even easier path to that WR2 role come 2027.
6. Marvin Mims Jr. (WR, Broncos)
We have seen multiple flashes of upside out of Marvin Mims Jr. since he was drafted by the Broncos in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, just not consistently. Some of those flashes include:
- Producing 155 receiving yards through two 2025 season playoff games for the Broncos. The second-most receiving yards were 70.
- 2025 – Week 7: Six receptions for 85 yards, 13 rushing yards, 15.8 Fantasy Points
- 2025 – Week 4: Six receptions for 69 yards, 16 rushing yards, rushing touchdown, 20.5 Fantasy Points
- 2024 – Week 18: Five receptions for 51 yards, two receiving touchdowns, 22.1 Fantasy Points
- 2024 – Week 17: Eight receptions for 103 yards, two receiving touchdowns, 30.2 Fantasy Points
- 2024 – Week 13: Three receptions for 105 yards, receiving touchdown, 19.9 Fantasy Points
- 2024: 14th in yards per target (9.7) and #4 in yards per route run (2.86) via playerprofiler
- 2023: Weeks of 113 (Week 2) + 73 (Week 3) receiving yards. 17.1 yards per catch
The Broncos acquired Jaylen Waddle this offseason to add to their room of Mims, Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and Pat Bryant. That is a lot of competition right there. Mims has proven to be explosive, and as a Free Agent in 2027, he could find himself in a new home with less competition where he can earn a more consistent role.
7. Kayshon Boutte (WR, Patriots)
Kayshon Boutte has produced over 550 receiving yards for the Patriots across the last two seasons, with a career-high six receiving touchdowns in 2025. Boutte finished the 2025 ranked #1 for the position in yards per target (12.0) and #6 in yards per reception. Some of Boutte’s biggest flashes in 2025:
- Produced 168 receiving yards in the NFL Playoffs through four games. The second receiving leader was at 129 yards.
- Week 13: Four receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown for 13.5 Fantasy Points
- Week 8: Three receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown for 16.5 Fantasy Points
- Week 7: Two receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown for 13.5 Fantasy Points
- Week 6: Five receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns for 26.3 Fantasy Points
- Week 1: Six receptions for 103 yards for 16.3 Fantasy Points
Kayshon Boutte proved to be able to have spike weeks for Fantasy Football last season, and was a true playoff factor in the Patriots’ Super Bowl run. The issue for 2026 is the signings of both AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs, who were both heavy investments by New England. Boutte is a Free Agent in 2027 and can land in a new home with less competition to earn a more consistently important role.
8. Eli Raridon (TE, Patriots)
The Patriots selected Eli Raridon in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. Raridon caught 32 balls for 482 yards (15.1 yards per catch) in 2025 on a run-heavy Irish squad. Raridon is 6’6, 245 lbs with solid strength and explosiveness, who can develop into an every-down starting NFL tight end.
Hunter Henry earned 87 targets as a reliable option for Drake Maye last season. While the Patriots did buff up their wide receiver room with the likes of AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs this offseason, Henry is a Free Agent in 2027. This can pave the path for Raridon to be the team’s TE1 and have a long-term connection to last year’s MVP runner-up in Maye.
9. Michael Mayer (TE, Raiders)
Michael Mayer was a great college prospect out of Notre Dame, finishing with over 800 receiving yards in each of his final two college seasons (2021/2022). This resulted in the Raiders selecting Mayer in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for Mayer, the Raiders selected Brock Bowers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Bowers is the greatest college tight end and the greatest NFL rookie tight end of all time. Tough sledding there for literally any tight end in the NFL to have to compete with.
Mayer caught 35 of his 50 targets last season for 328 yards, with Bowers missing some time. The Raiders have an extremely weak wide receiver core and a new coaching staff, which could pave the way for Mayer to be on the field more often and play a bigger role, which would be nice with the quarterback additions of Fernando Mendoza via the NFL Draft and Kirk Cousins via Free Agency this offseason. More important is the fact that Mayer is a Free Agent in 2027, which can certainly mean landing somewhere he can operate as that team’s new TE1, which would mean a massive value rise in 2027. I have always believed in the talent, so I am rooting for this man to finally get his deserved opportunity.
10. Luke Musgrave (TE, Packers)
The Packers selected Luke Musgrave in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Oregon, then selected Tucker Kraft in the third round out of South Dakota. Despite this draft order in the same NFL Draft, Kraft would take over and fly with the TE1 role for Green Bay. Musgrave produced 352 yards in 2023 as a rookie and 252 yards in 2025. Musgrave has had some injury concerns throughout his career, but he has some solid size + speed tools that could translate to big plays.
The interesting part about the Packers situation is that both Musgrave and Kraft are Free Agents in 2027. I would be shocked if Kraft does not receive a big payday, even after the Packers just extended both Christian Watson and Jayden Reed. In a world where the Packers do not want to pay Kraft, Musgrave could be the cheaper option and take on the lead role. If Kraft does get paid, Musgrave can move on and fight for another team’s TE1 role with lesser competition than Kraft. A lot of “what-if’s” but still possibilities.
