Fantasy Football 2023: Week 3 Quarterback and Tight End Sleepers and Streamers

Once again, we are in the midst of an exciting NFL season. Now begins the process of setting the best lineup possible on a weekly basis. Each Thursday, we will have you covered as we go through options at both the quarterback and tight end positions. Let us dig into some Week 3 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers along with some Week 3 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers.

Week 2 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers

Quarterback Sleepers

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans

The Texans are not a good football team and they are already playing for 2024. However, it is clear that they will be giving Stroud a true chance to show what he can do. On Sunday, that meant 384 passing yards against the Colts.

While it did come in a losing effort, Stroud also threw two touchdown passes, we cannot argue with the production from a fantasy standpoint. Stroud will continuously be in the position to air the ball out downfield, and facing prevent defenses should also help. It will be tough for the Texans to keep up with Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars this week, and that means we will see a busy Stroud. Based on what we know to this point, it will be a good matchup for the rookie as one of our sleepers and streamers.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Even without Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford is still showing the ability to move the ball downfield. Between Puka Nacua emerging at wide receiver and Kyren Williams at running back, there are some weapons in this offense. While it is a by-product of game flow, especially last week against San Francisco, Stafford has eclipsed the 300-yard mark in back-to-back weeks.

From a production standpoint, Stafford picked up his first touchdown of the season last week. Stafford has another favorable matchup this week, he faces the Bengals, and if the volume continues, there could be some value here.

Quarterback Streamers

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The last time I checked, the Philadelphia Eagles were pretty good. That is why I was shocked to see the Eagles come in as one of the worst defenses against fantasy quarterbacks. However, there is the disclaimer of it being just two weeks into the season. In those two weeks though, Baker Mayfield has ripped off two straight victories to begin the year.

After a solid game against Minnesota with two touchdown passes, Mayfield took advantage of the Bears in Week 2. Mayfield threw for 317 yards and a touchdown, but regardless of what the ranks say, it will be more challenging for him this week. However, if the Buccaneers are trailing as we expect them to be, then Mayfield should be busy through the air. That will make it another productive day and sets him up as one of our sleepers and streamers.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

There are plenty of quarterbacks that come with more buzz, but we shouldn’t hold that against Jared Goff. While he doesn’t add any value on the ground, Goff makes plenty of things happen through the air. That makes the veteran the perfect option if you are looking to fill a hole at the quarterback position.

Goff had one of the better weeks at the quarterback position, even if it came in a losing effort, last week. He completed 80% of his passes against the Seahawks which led to 323 passing yards and three touchdowns. We don’t have to worry about Goff’s chemistry with Amon-Ra St. Brown, but there are other weapons at his disposal as well. This isn’t the flashy play here, but it is the solid one. It’s a solid matchup against the Falcons, and we know that the Lions will certainly look to their quarterback to lead the way.

Week 2 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers

Tight End Sleepers

Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys

From a matchup perspective, Jake Ferguson emerges as one of our sleepers and streamers this week against Arizona. With that being said, there is some risk here as Ferguson has just 11 receiving yards in each game so far this season. However, Ferguson has been targeted 11 times and did catch a touchdown last week. The second-year tight end did come close to a second touchdown catch, and if, at the least, he is a red zone option, there is some value here.

Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans

Admittedly, I already have moved on from Chigoziem Okonkwo in one league, but that doesn’t preclude him from being a sleepers and streamers option. Considering the target was Hunter Henry, I think it was logical, but Okonkwo will regain some fantasy value this season.

At this point, part of the issue is Tennessee’s offense. Okonkwo was targeted just two times in Week 1 and finished without a catch. This came after Okonkwo generated some buzz with a strong conclusion to last season. He did bounce back last week catching all four of his targets for 35 yards. While it’s unclear when we can count on Okonkwo for more than that, he is capable of more.

Tight End Streamers

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Until the rostered percentage on Hunter Henry really climbs, you will get sick of seeing him here. But until that point, Henry continues to be an option for those looking for sleepers and streamers at the tight end position.

Through the first two weeks of the season, consistency has been key for Henry. After all, isn’t that what we look for? He has emerged as a consistent target for Mac Jones, and at this point, we truly could be looking at a TE1. The fact that Henry is getting regular looks in the red zone – he has a touchdown in each game – gets things off on the right foot. Even without the touchdowns, Henry has been solid catching five passes for 56 yards followed by six receptions for 52 yards. While the Jets do have a strong defense on paper, they haven’t shown it to this point.

Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals

While the veteran might be boring, Zach Ertz is healthy and productive to begin the season. There isn’t much to Arizona’s offense, but Ertz has been busy to begin the season.

Through two games, Ertz was targeted 18 times and has caught six passes each week for a combined 77 yards. While he is still looking for his first touchdown reception of the season, there is a track record. Arizona will be playing from behind against the Cowboys, so Joshua Dobbs will have to take to the air. His limited repertoire will keep Ertz busy.
