SNF DraftKings Showdown Picks
*Disclaimer: These picks have been constructed with the mindset of building a single lineup. When building large field/multi-entry tournaments, if the player sees the field you’ll want to have a piece of him somewhere, my “busts” included.
Captain
Travis Kelce
Draft Kings Captain Salary- $17,700
Including the playoffs, Travis Kelce has recorded at least two multi-score games since 2017. Oddly enough to this point this season he does not have any. While I have an inkling that this may change tonight, even if he doesn’t score twice, I still believe he’s a fine captain play. Kelce has been very consistent this season, scoring double-digit DraftKings points in all but one game this season. He remains Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target in an offense that has been searching for another dynamic playmaker. While the team may have just that in rookie WR Rashee Rice, Kelce will undoubtedly remain a key producer moving forward. The Packers DST most recently gave up 5 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown to Sam LaPorta. The week prior they let Charger’s TE Stone Smartt go for 51 yards and a score of his own. Kelce’s SNF matchup may be juicier than previously thought.
Core Play
Rashee Rice
DraftKings Salary- $8,400
As I mentioned above, Rashee Rice has really been coming on as a reliable second option for Patrick Mahomes. It looked for a little bit there that Rice may have been losing looks to fellow WR Justin Watson. While the latter has now scored in back-to-back weeks, Rice remains the focal point after Kelce. In last week’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Rice was targeted 10 times catching eight passes for 107 yards and a touchdown of his own. In the last two weeks, the Packers CBs have squared up against two great possession WRs, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Keenan Allen. Both receivers recorded at least 9 receptions. If you can squeeze Mahomes, Kelce, and Rice in the same SNF DK lineup, then I’d say you’re off to a good start.
Value
Jayden Reed
DraftKings Salary- $7,000
At only $7,000 Jayden Reed is an absolute steal. I’m predicting that he’ll be highly owned on SNF tonight. As he should be. The number three WR on the Packers, by depth chart only, Jayden Reed has been doing everything in his power to keep the Packers’ offense afloat. He’s come on especially strong in the last three weeks, producing DraftKings scores of 15.0, 19.2, and 19.4. A true testament to his dynamic play-making abilities, Jayden Reed has been afforded 5 carries in the last four games. Seeing as how he’s taken those 5 carries for 83 yards, it figures that the team will continue to give him carries moving forward. Reed figures to be involved no matter the game environment, however, he gets a boost in the likely scenario that the Packers are playing in comeback mode.
Sleeper
Patrick Taylor
DraftKings Salary- $2,000
With Aaron Jones (OUT) also being ruled out last week, Patrick Taylor played 48% of the snaps last week and he’s $2,000 this week. Let me repeat that. Taylor, who virtually split snaps with starting RB AJ Dillon, has been given a $2,000 SNF price tag on DK. Although last week’s snap share did not manifest any sort of volume, there is still reason to like Taylor tonight. Before last week, anytime Taylor got at least a 30% share he was at the very least involved in the passing game. In Week 2’s win over the New Orleans Saints, Taylor recorded three catches on four targets, while playing 36$ of the snaps. He would get involved again in Week 5 where he was targeted five times against the Raiders. If the game script goes how most think it will, the Packer’s passing down specialist may be in for some extra work.
SNF Bust
Romeo Doubs
DraftKings Salary- $6,400
It’s hard to go against playmakers. That’s exactly what Romeo Doubs is. He’s enjoyed a productive year to date. It’s how he’s producing that has given me some doubts about his SNF performance. Romeo Doubs only has two games this season with over 70 receiving yards. Aside from those, his next highest output was a 53-yard outing against the Chargers. He did not crack the 40-yard mark in any of his other 11 games so far this season. What’s been Doubs’ bread and butter this season has been his presence in the red zone. He currently ranks 5th out of all NFL WRs this season in red zone usage. A couple of weeks ago he was 2nd, which just goes to show that the pace he was on is unsustainable. With TDs in 3 of his last 4 games, I’m predicting that Doubs will not find the end zone tonight. If the yardage trend continues, Doubs won’t do your lineup any good.
