We are now two months through the fantasy hockey regular season. It’s time to start stacking wins and lock in for a playoff push. With slow starts by big stars and injuries still a major factor, you may need to go bold with a lineup decision These Week 7 bold predictions may help if you’re stuck on whether or not to plug in these players.
Week 6 Bold Predictions for 2024-25 Fantasy Hockey
Connor McDavid, C, Edmonton Oilers
Bold Prediction: 3 Goals, 6 Assists for 9 points in 4 Games this week
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off of an overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, which was one that the team should have had in their back pocket. Due to that, Connor McDavid will be hungry for wins this week and this is the best week to do so. The Oilers play the Montréal Canadiens on Monday night then the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday to complete the back-to-back. They have a rest day on Wednesday before taking on the Minnesota Wild on Thursday and the New York Rangers on Saturday.
Four games in seven days is a lot, but big players rise to the occasion, especially in busy weeks like this. This is why I feel that and will predict that McDavid will have three goals and five assists for nine points in figure games this week. This will having him averaging 2.25 points per game and will have him ending the week with 31 points on the season. If you have McDavid on your team, you should be in line to win the week on the back of him.
Matthew Tkachuk, LW, Florida Panthers
Bold Prediction: 2 Goals, 1 Assists, 15 Hits
The Florida Panthers are coming off a 5-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets. After handing them their second loss of the season, the game got very chippy at the end due to a low hit by Neal Pionk on Jesper Boqvist of the Panthers. This, of course, drew the ire of the Panthers bench and they made sure to let the Jets know that they weren’t happy about it. Well, fortunately for the Panthers they play the Jets again on Tuesday, which will now be a game that Matthew Tkachuk does all he can to make life hard on the Jets players. It is the style of game that will force Tkachuk into a hot streak for the rest of the week.
This is why I am predicting that he will end the week with two goals, one assist, and 15 hits. He should get the bulk of those 15 hits against the Jets on Tuesday and potentially even a point or two. The Panthers also play the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. Florida has been a very good team this season and a lot of that rests on the back of their engine, Tkachuk. If he is on and feeling it, the team will skate through a wall and beat any team in their path. If you have him on your fantasy hockey team, this week could be one of his best so far this season.
