This will be the last week in fantasy hockey for many leagues, so if you’re seeking top goalie options to stream, it means you are still hanging around and battling for first, third, or even 5th. With that being said, there are lots of options for managers to do well in net by adding the right goalies from the waiver wire.
Fantasy Hockey Week 25 Goalie Streams
James Reimer, Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres know they aren’t going to make the playoffs and have been playing their hotter goalie for a good amount of games now. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, the Sabres’ starter at the beginning of the season, has a 3.23 GAA and .885 SV% this season. In comparison, James Reimer has started 15 games for Buffalo now and has a 2.75 GAA and .904 SV%. The better numbers are possible and Reimer has started six of the past eight games.
Both games Reimer didn’t get in were on back-to-backs, so it just made sense for him to get some rest. The 37-year-old has won six games in a row and has a .906 SV% over that span. He posted a .917 SV% or better in four of those games and the Sabres usually turn it on too late in the season. Some playoff teams might be underestimating Buffalo and it is costing them. The Sabres have four games this week against the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Probably the biggest threat is Tampa Bay and Reimer will likely get the night off.
Calvin Pickard, Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers have won six of their past 10 games despite a lot of big injuries like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Mattias Ekholm, but starting goalie Stuart Skinner is among them. He has missed over a week, and Calvin Pickard has done very well in his place. Pickard was already getting starts over Skinner because of performance anyway, but Skinner’s injury just removes the competition from the net for now.
Skinner is still expected to be out a little bit longer. There is no need to rush him back as the Oilers are two points away from clinching a playoff spot. Pickard has posted a .909 SV% or better in his last four starts, winning three of them. He has now appeared in eight of the team’s last nine games and the Oilers face off against the Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, and Winnipeg Jets.
Cam Talbot, Detroit Red Wings
Cam Talbot has re-taken the starting net in Detroit after Petr Mrazek got injured. By the way the numbers were going, the Red Wings were going to get there without an injury anyway. But with Mrazek on the shelf, Talbot continues to get starts and is performing well. He has a job to fight for next season to prove that he is the number one over Mrazek and the team is still in the playoff hunt this season.
Talbot has started five games in a row and has a great SV% to go along with it, not skipping a beat in any of the games. He is doing his part and as long as the Red Wings have a chance, they are going with the best chance to get a win and to get points. Detroit plays the Montreal Canadiens, Panthers, and Lightning, but the latter two are on a back-to-back. He will get two starts, and the Panthers have been struggling and injured, so it will be a good matchup to target.
