There’s a lot to take in here over an interview that is under five minutes long. Starting with Adley Rutschman, manager Tony Mansolino said that he is going through the process here, which was later confirmed as the process for a concussion. He reaffirmed that the team is on this situation and takes this very seriously. It’s hard to imagine Rustchman returning today, given how the team speaks about it, but it also doesn’t sound like this is too serious a situation. That said, anything can happen. Moving on to Jordan Westburg and Colton Cowser, both are headed to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk. Both are recovering from different types of injuries, meaning that their timelines are quite different. While Cowser is coming back from a fractured thumb and is hoping to get his timing back alongside some power, Westburg is doing his best to get his legs back after a hamstring injury.
New York Mets – Team Update
Sean Manaea will throw live BP on Thursday, his first time facing hitters since straining his oblique in spring training. (Among the hitters he'll face is Jose Siri, who's recovering from a broken bone in his leg.)

Fantastic news for Sean Manaea, who is trying to make his 2025 debut following an oblique injury and a setback. He has been making steady progress for quite a while without any setbacks, but this will be a big step forward for him on Thursday. As for Jose Siri, this will be his first time seeing live pitching since fracturing his tibia. He is also taking a big step forward in his progress. Both players are expected to be with the Mets at some point in June.
Paul Blackburn – SP New York Mets

If all goes well tonight, then Blackburn will be making his 2025 debut next Monday. Be prepared.
Miami Marlins – Team Update
#Marlins injury updates
Eury second rehab start at Triple-A on Wednesday
Cronin pitching tomorrow and Thursday at Triple-A
Myers begins rehab assignment with Triple-A tomorrow
Hill to IL with left wrist sprain
Edwards continuing baseball activity

There’s a lot to get to here. First, Eury Perez will look to build on last outing’s mixed performance. While he had seven strikeouts in three-plus innings of work, he was all over the place when he missed, which is typical of the recovery for this type of injury. Still, the Marlins want to see him be more efficient before they consider bringing him back. As for Dane Myers, if all goes well physically, he should be back within a week. Finally, Xavier Edwards will be moving past the minimum time away for this trip to the Injured List, and he’s barely begun baseball activities. Chances are, he will not be ready by Wednesday when he’s eligible to return.
David Fry – C Cleveland Guardians
David Fry’s rehab assignment has been transferred to Triple-A Columbus.
— Tim Stebbins (@tim_stebbins) May 26, 2025
While he has struggled at the plate so far, it’s good news that he has progressed to Triple-A Columbus, as he could be a sneaky second-half add for teams needing a catcher for their two-catcher leagues. A reminder that he will only be the team’s designated hitter this year, and will likely never put on a baseball glove this season. However, if that keeps him on the field and allows him to produce at the plate, then so be it.
Shane Bieber – SP Cleveland Guardians
Cleveland #Guardians RHP Shane Bieber will make his first rehab start this upcoming Saturday in the Arizona Complex League.
— Guardians Prospective (@CleGuardPro) May 26, 2025
Bieber will likely need the maximum amount of time allotted to stretch himself out, work out the kinks, and be ready to help the Guardians in the second half of the season. That said, players coming back from this type of surgery usually have difficulty with their command and control, so it’s quite possible the same will apply here.
Byron Buxton – OF Minnesota Twins

According to manager Rocco Baldelli, this might take some time, and if we know who we’re dealing with, chances are he’s not wrong. Byron Buxton has an extensive injury history with many long absences requiring extra recovery time. Whether or not this is one of those times remains to be seen, but it is interesting that the manager pointed it out publicly. It is worth noting that Buxton is travelling with the team, so there could be the glimmer of hope that he is close to being ready. On the other hand, he could be with the team so that they can get a first-hand look at him and his condition. Concussions are tricky, and this feels like that right now. Stay tuned.
Matt Wallner – OF Minnesota Twins

It’s looking like Wallner will rejoin the Twins in Seattle this weekend.
Logan O’Hoppe – C Los Angeles Angels
Wash said O’Hoppe got hit in the head on a backswing in the 8th. He was removed for precautionary reasons.
Logan says he feels okay, but they’ll wait and see about tomorrow.
— Erica Weston (@EricaLWeston) May 27, 2025
Incredibly, these sorts of injuries don’t happen more often than they do for catchers. The hope here is that this was purely precautionary and that he feels better today. Logan O’Hoppe has had difficulty staying healthy over the years for a variety of reasons, and this would be an unfortunate one.
