3 Fantasy Football Questions for the 2025 New York Jets

I am doing a series where I offer up three fantasy football questions for every NFL team. I look at stats, playing time projections, projected roles, and off-season news to try and highlight the issues facing you in your 2025 fantasy football drafts. We’ll do this thing in divisional order, and this time around I’ll consider three questions for the 2025 New York Jets.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.

3 Fantasy Football Questions for the 2025 New York Jets

Will Justin Fields Run for 1,000 Yards?

Justin Fields is on to his third team in four years. Will he establish roots with the New York Jets, and should he be drafted as a QB1?

In 10 games last year, six starts, Fields carried the ball 62 times for 289 yards and five touchdowns. That also came with another five passing touchdowns as Fields had a career-high 65.8% completion rate. To be clear, though, the Steelers didn’t exactly open things up last year and give Fields a chance to show what he can do down the field. We should note that the Jets’ plan is likely going to be similar in 2025.

While Fields is going to be in an offense suited to his skill set, it’s what he does on the ground that will move the needle. In 2022, Fields gained 1,143 yards on the ground as he averaged 7.1 yards per carry. He’s yet to get back to those levels, and it’s currently the best performance of his career.

Through the first four years of his career, Fields has had three seasons of 6.9 yards per pass attempt with one season of 7.1. That’s not going to change this year with the Jets. It’s clear that the offense will be focused on Fields, and while he’ll be active on the ground, it could be the best passing season of his career. Getting back to 1,000 rushing yards might prove to be too lofty, but Fields should come close. Combining that with a refined approach through the air, and making use of Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, and Fields should finish as a QB1.

Can Breece Hall Reach 2,000 Combined Yards?

From a talent perspective, Breece Hall certainly has the ability to do so. He can make an impact both on the ground and through the air. Hall’s proven that he can produce in both aspects of the game. As we enter 2025, perhaps the most important thing is that he’s fully healthy. Last year, Hall tried to power through his knee not being 100%, and that is now behind him.

Given their recent history, it sounds strange saying this, but the Jets’ offensive weapons might hold Hall back. We know that Fields is going to make a real impact on the ground, and that will take some carries away from Hall. New York has also made it clear that they’re going to lean on both Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis out of the backfield. This will keep Hall fresh and enable the Jets to capitalize on everyone’s strengths.

However, if Hall is truly healthy, why couldn’t he break the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career? That comes out to about 60 yards per game. Last season, Hall averaged 4.2 yards per carry, gaining 876 yards with five touchdowns for the second straight season.

With no real receiving threat other than Garrett Wilson, Fields will likely lean on Hall. That means he should break his career highs of 76 catches and 591 receiving yards from 2023. All he really needs is a few explosive games, and 2,000 yards becomes a lot more reasonable. In PPR leagues, though, Hall will finish as an RB1.

How Good Can Garrett Wilson Be?

The first three seasons of Garrett Wilson’s professional career have not been fair to the receiver. Between different coaches, coordinators, and quarterbacks, Wilson has yet to really get on track and find true consistency. That’s not to even mention the lackluster quarterback play that Wilson has had to deal with.

Despite that, he has had nine games of at least 100 receiving yards while surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in each season. Last year, Wilson had career highs of 101 catches, 1,104 yards, and seven touchdowns. However, it feels like we still haven’t seen the best he has to offer.

Fields might not be a true downfield passing threat, but he’ll do a good job of getting Wilson the ball in situations where he can do damage. The Jets’ lack of receiving depth works in Wilson’s favor. While there won’t be too many downfield passes, the chemistry between Fields and Wilson should be on display. Wilson will be in a position to succeed while reaching double-digit touchdowns for the first time in his career.
