College Fantasy Football: G5 Waiver Additions

Week 2 is in the books! The college fantasy football season is short, and you always need to be looking ahead. I am here to help you identify seven Group of Five (G5) waiver wire additions AFTER your league waivers have been processed. THAT’S RIGHT… after your league waivers have been processed. I like to dive DEEP! I am looking for players that are 30% owned or less. Before we dig into our Week 3 G5 Waiver Additions, let’s recap my Week 2 picks.

There’s no such thing as too much football! 2025 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!

G5 Waiver Additions

Quarterbacks

AJ Swann, Appalachian State

Fantrax Rostership: 16%
Total Fantasy Points: 58.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 29.2

In my article last week, College Fantasy Football: G5 Waiver Wire Gems, I highlighted AJ Swann. I stated in this article, ” I believe several people will see AJ on waivers and pass him by for weeks.” Well, here we are for Week 3! He followed up his Week 1 35.22 point performance with a 23.26 point performance in Week 2. He leads the Group of 5 (G5) in passing yards/game with 368 yards and is 3rd in the G5 in pass attempts/game with 46. Southern Miss will be a tough foe in Week 3, but I think volume keeps AJ Swann viable for another week.

Brad Jackson, Texas State

Fantrax Rostership: 29%
Total Fantasy Points: 68.2
Fantasy Points Per Game: 34.1

Brad Jackson was also listed in my article last week. He followed up his 37.36 performance in Week 1 with a 30.84 point performance in Week 2. I imagine this will be the last week I can promote Jackson before he crosses that 30% threshold. If the matchup against Arizona State makes you nervous, don’t be! Jackson can do it will his leg as well as his arm. Jackson is currently averaging 11 rush attempts/game for 41 yards and 1 touchdown. Brad Jackson should be a G5 waiver addition in most leagues.

Running Backs

Tae Meadows, Troy

Fantrax Rostership: 26%
Total Fantasy Points: 34.4
Fantasy Points Per Game: 17.2

This may seem like a strange G5 waiver addition to some, but Tae Meadows needs to be scooped up! Troy running back, Trey Cooley, is out for the season due to a knee injury. Tae Meadows has stepped up BIG in his absence. He has seen 24 and 16 touches respectively, over the last two weeks. He rushed for 76 yards, only 7.6 points, in Week 2. However, that was against CLEMSON!  The Sun Belt Conference is not quite the SEC. Through 2 weeks, Meadows ranks 3rd in the G5 in touches per game (24) and 1st in yards per game (198).

Quinton Jackson, Rice

Fantrax Rostership: 8%
Total Fantasy Points: 23.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 11.7

Despite only having 5.2 fantasy points in week 2, I will trust the process for Week 3. Rice has moved to an option offense under new Head Coach Scott Abell. In this new offense, Quinton Jackson has averaged 23 touches/game and 113 yards/game. He is also one of the tops in the G5 with 7 missed tackles forced. I look for Rice to put the ball in Jackson’s bread basket a lot in Week 3 as Rice plays Prairie View A&M.

Wide Receivers

Skyler Bell, UConn

Fantrax Rostership: 29%
Total Fantasy Points: 51
Fantasy Points Per Game: 25.5

Skyler Bell was another name I highlighted in my Week 2 article. He followed up his 29.5 fantasy point performance with 21.5 fantasy points against the Syracuse Orange. Bell saw 17 targets in Week 2 and converted those into 11 receptions for 105 yards. The Huskies have Delaware in Week 3, and I look for this to be a sneaky high-scoring game. As I write this article, I can feel his rostership rising. I anticipate this will be the last week I have the pleasure of highlighting Skyler Bell as a G5 waiver addition.

Jaden Barnes, Appalachian State

Fantrax Rostership: 16%
Total Fantasy Points: 44.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 22.2

Jaden Barnes has seen 8 and 11 targets in back-to-back weeks. He has turned those opportunities into 23.4 and 21.1 fantasy point performances, respectively. Barnes currently ranks 5th in the G5 in yards/game with 134 and 25th in targets per game with 8. Southern Miss is currently allowing opponents to score on 100% of their red zone trips (5) through 2 weeks, and opponents have converted on a high rate of 3rd downs (43.3%). Look for Barnes and this Appalachian State team to have a productive game in Week 3 against Southern Miss.

Tight Ends

Izayah Cummings, Appalachian State

Fantrax Rostership: 1%
Total Fantasy Points: 18
Fantasy Points Per Game: 9

Fantasy producing tight ends are hard to identify in college football, let alone rostered in under 30% of leagues…and they have to be G5. However, I got you covered for your G5 waiver wire addition! Izayah Cummings is a DEEP name here for Week 3. Cummings is averaging 6 targets/game in an offense that is throwing it 46 times per game. Cummings also has an average depth of target (aDOT) of 8.2 yards. His 57 yards/game ranks 6th in the G5. I mentioned in Barnes’ write-up about this Southern Miss defense. Look for a solid outing in Week 3 for Izayah Cummings.
