Hello, College Fantasy Football (CFF) World! Man, it feels good to be back! For those who are new to Fantrax or my in-season writing, I want to properly introduce myself to you.
I am the Co-Host of the @G5Hive on X and @the_g5_hive on Instagram. My Co-Host, Justice, and I just completed our summer series called “The Worker Bee Series“. We deep dive into the G5 College Football landscape with the folks who know the teams the best. To top it off, I do another podcast with my league-mates about our Campus2Canton home league, the Casuals2Degenerates. As you can imagine, I have some passion for CFF and C2C leagues…and of course, the G5! Enough about me. Let’s talk fantasy!
There’s no such thing as too much football! 2025 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!
Week 1 is in the books! I am here to help you identify 7 Group of Five (G5) Waiver Wire Gems AFTER your league waivers have been processed. THAT’S RIGHT…after your league waivers have been processed. I like to dive DEEP! I am looking for individuals who are 30% owned or less. Let’s go digging for those G5 waiver wire GEMS!
*Note these numbers are based on 1 point per reception.
G5 Waiver Wire Recommendations
Quarterbacks
AJ Swann, Appalachian State
Fantrax Rostership: 13%
Total Fantasy Points: 35.22
Fantasy Points Per Game: 35.22
Appalachian State has a new Head Coach, Dowell Loggains. Loggains comes to App State via South Carolina, where he had Spencer Rattler and LaNorris Sellers as his QBs. In the portal, the Mountaineers picked up AJ Swann. In Week 1, we saw AJ throw the ball 46 times for 368 yards and 3 TDs! That was good for 35.22 points. I believe several people will see AJ on waivers and pass him by for weeks. DynastyMattyIce highlighted Swann in this week’s edition of College Fantasy Football Gemstones. He has risen 6%, but it is not nearly enough! Pick up AJ Swann this week. It may be the cheapest you will be able to get this G5 Waiver Wire Gem.

— 31 of 46 passing
— 368 yards (record for an App State debut)

Brad Jackson, Texas State
Fantrax Rostership: 24%
Total Fantasy Points: 37.36
Fantasy Points Per Game: 37.36
Brad Jackson is my next G5 waiver wire gem. Brad Jackson had an excellent 69.2% completion percentage in Week 1 against Eastern Michigan. He threw for 214 yards and 4 TDs. He added 48 yards on the ground. Brad Jackson is a true dual threat! With an over/under set at 66.5 and the Roadrunners favored by 4.5 points, I believe we will see a lot of Brad Jackson. Overall, I believe this week’s game against UTSA will produce fantasy GOLD!
Running Backs
Rashod Dubinion, Appalachian State
Fantrax Rostership: 30%
Total Fantasy Points: 25.2
Fantasy Points Per Game: 25.2
Appalachian State RB Kayne Roberts was set to start for the Mountaineers in 2025; however, he suffered an ACL injury that will cost him the 2025 season. Behind Roberts is Rashod Dubinion. Dubinion is a 5’10” 210lbs transfer running back from Arkansas. He commanded 22 of the 34 rushes from the running back room. With those 22 carries, he was able to amass 111 yards and 1 TD. Head Coach Dowell Loggains has historically had a QB that runs the ball (50.95 yards/game). AJ Swann ran for only 25 yards in Week 1. I get that it is a one game sample size, but I look for the Mountaineers to use the QB less in the rushing game, which opens the door for a HUGE Rashod Dubinion season in 2025!
Jalen Dupree, Colorado State
Fantrax Rostership: 6%
Total Fantasy Points: 17.2
Fantasy Points Per Game: 17.2
A surprise to most, Jalen Dupree got the start for Colorado State against a P4 opponent in Washington. Dupree looked good in Week 1, finishing with 15 attempts for 92 yards and 1 TD. Dupree handled 15 of the 19 running back carries for the Rams. Workhorse running backs are tough to find, and this has the potential to be a nice G5 Waiver Wire Gem! If you want to get to know Jalen Dupree a bit more, the G5 Hive had the pleasure of sitting down with him over the summer. You can catch my interview with him here!

Wide Receivers
Skyler Bell, UConn
Fantrax Rostership: 19%
Total Fantasy Points: 29.5
Fantasy Points Per Game: 29.5
Skyler Bell is a name that needs to get attention. He averaged 7 targets and 65 yards per game in 2024. In 2025, he opened the season with 4 receptions on 5 targets for 135 yards and 2 TDs. If you need a wideout in Week 2, I would recommend Skyler Bell. The Huskies take on the Syracuse Orange, and I have a feeling Joe Fagnano will look Bell’s way early and often in this contest.
Miles Davis, Utah State
Fantrax Rostership: 18%
Total Fantasy Points: 26.9
Fantasy Points Per Game: 26.9
Miles Davis is a BYU transfer. Davis started his career as a wide receiver and has now converted to running back. Miles Davis could be a cheat code player in Fantrax. He is listed as a RB/WR. DUAL ELIGIBILITY! Davis is the Aggies’ starting running back that you can put at Wide Receiver.
In Week 1, we saw the Aggies lean on him as he had 12 carries for 88 yards and 1 TD while adding 6 receptions for 61 yards through the air. Davis led the team in rushing yards, receptions, and receiving yards in Week 1. I understand Utah State has Texas A&M in Week 2, but did you see what UTSA was able to do against them on the ground in Week 1? If you missed it, UTSA ran for 203 yards and 2 TDs against Texas A&M. Miles Davis is a MUST add. Go scoop up this G5 waiver wire gem NOW!
Tight Ends
Jaxxon Warren, Colorado State
Fantrax Rostership: 15%
Total Fantasy Points: 19.9
Fantasy Points Per Game: 19.9
You may be asking yourself, Who is Jaxxon Warren? Warren is a Navarro College (JUCO) transfer who missed 2024 due to an upper-body injury. He is 6’8”, 245 pounds. He had offers from schools like Oregon State, UCF, and others. Jay Norvell has a track record with some successful TEs: Cole Turner, Trey McBride, and Dallin Holker. In 2023, Holker ran the most routes and was 2nd in targets/yards/TDs/Target %. We did not see a TE ball out in 2024, but 2025 is off to a good start. Warren saw a 35.3% target share. He led the team in receptions (6), receiving yards (79), and had the lone TD reception on Saturday night. Jaxxon Warren has all the makings to be a top tight end and a G5 waiver wire gem.
