MLB Injury Report – More Back Issues for Brewer

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Thursday, September 3, 2025. In today’s report, we learn that Roman Anthony’s injury is a worst-case scenario for the Red Sox, Christian Yelich suffers an all too familiar injury, and Anthony Santander could, in fact, return this season. Read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Roman Anthony – OF Boston Red Sox

Judging by the fact that the team knew Roman would need at least a month to recover, chances are that it was more than a simple minor strain. This may be somewhere between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 strain, but the fact remains that this is a huge blow to the Red Sox and their playoff aspirations. As for Anthony himself, he should have a relatively normal offseason as he looks to build on this season’s momentum.

Kyle Harrison – SP Boston Red Sox

This likely helps explain why we haven’t seen Harrison debut with the Red Sox since being traded to Boston earlier in the season. It remains to be seen if he will this year, but chances are he will get at least one start under his belt.

Christian Yelich – OF Milwaukee Brewers

Really depressing news here, as it’s hard not to let the worst-case possibilities enter your mind. He’s had back problems for years and also had surgery last year to help alleviate this issue. The hope is that this is a one-time thing and something that can go away with some rest, though it’s already been announced that he won’t play today.

Isaac Paredes – 3B Houston Astros

This is very encouraging news, as there might be a chance of him returning for the MLB playoffs after all. If so, that would be a huge boost to a team that’s looking to not only win their division but also do some damage and possibly win a World Series. While this might be getting ahead of ourselves, it’s worth mentioning that there is little to no chance of him returning in the regular season and offering much of a contribution.

Spencer Arrighetti – SP Houston Astros

Just what the Astros need, another injury to their pitching staff. Given the timing of this and the fragile nature of this injury, it might very well be a season-ending ailment, to avoid something more serious with a quick return.

Anthony Santander – OF Los Angeles Dodgers

Big news here out of Toronto, but just like Paredes in Houston, this likely has more to do with the Blue Jays’ postseason aspirations than anything else. While the plan is for Santander to play at least five games next Tuesday, the best-case scenario (time-wise) has him ready to return the following week. This would lead to two weeks (at best) of Santander in the lineup, which could help fantasy players. Still, he hasn’t played since the end of May, and he will undoubtedly be rusty, possibly requiring rest days as well.

Will Smith – C Los Angeles Dodgers

Smith exited yesterday’s game early after taking a pitch off his right hand. He was replaced by Daulton Rushing, who could get the team’s next start if this contusion causes him to miss time. The good news is that X-rays were negative, so it appears that he’s avoided something serious.

Baltimore Orioles – Team Update

Good news for both players here, with Tyler O’Neill likely returning before Jordan Westburg. However, even if he does make it back to Baltimore first, there’s no guarantee that he remains healthy long enough to share a lineup with Jordan Westburg.

Shelby Miller – RP Milwaukee Brewers

This could unfortunately be a career-ending injury here, as he will be 35 years old next month. If he does require a second Tommy John procedure, the extensive recovery alongside Father Time may mean that we’ve seen the last of Miller on the mound. I hope I’m wrong.
