2025 Fantasy Football: Week 2 Wide Receiver and Tight End Starts and Sits

Starts and sits for wide receivers and tight ends are here for Week 2. In Week 1, I correctly identified 75% of the wide receiver calls. George Pickens was a major letdown, but Emeke Egbuka finished as the WR4 with 23.6 and the game-winning touchdown. DK Metcalf and Jerry Jeudy were fantastic sits as they both finished outside the top 24 WRs.

For tight ends, I would say my starts did not perform well, but each still had over nine fantasy points. Evan Engram and Jake Ferguson were my sits at the position, and both finished outside the top 20.

Here are my Week 2 starts and sits at wide receiver and tight end.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends Starts and Sits

Wide Receiver Starts

Ricky Pearsall @ New Orleans Saints

Ricky Pearsall had over 100 on four catches in Week 1. He finished as the WR20 with 14.8 fantasy points. The New Orleans Saints are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Brock Purdy is also set to miss the next two to five weeks with turf toe. Mac Jones is now going to be the starting quarterback. As he did last year, Jones locked in on the team’s number one option, and that was Brian Thomas. Pearsall is the team’s top receiver with the injuries, and that does not include Christian McCaffrey. Expect Pearsall to have a high target share for the next few weeks.

Deebo Samuel @ Green Bay Packers

Deebo Samuel has found a fresh start with the Washington Commanders. He outscored Terry McLaurin last week and finished as the WR6 with 22.6 fantasy points. He had 77 yards to go along with a rushing touchdown as well. The Green Bay Packers looked elite in Week 1, but I expect them to focus on McLaurin. This will allow Samuel to produce highly once again. Currently, he is ranked as the WR33, but is one of my favorite starts for Week 2.

Wide Receiver Sits

Travis Hunter @ Cincinnati Bengals

Travis Hunter saw a nice amount of volume in his debut, but the streets are saying he is just a fancy version of Wan’Dale Robinson. Not enough yardage, even though the receptions are there. Also, it was reported this week that the Jacksonville Jaguars plan to play Hunter more as a cornerback in Week 2. That is enough for me to leave him on my benches this upcoming week.

Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Denver Broncos

Michael Pittman did score 20 fantasy points and finished as the WR8 last week, but do not fall for the trap. In Week 2, he will be seeing the 2024 DPOY and best cornerback in football, Patrick Surtain II. Surtain locks up everyone who is across from him, and there is no need to risk having Pittman in your lineup with the hardest matchup he will have this season.

Tight End Starts

Harold Fannin Jr. @ Baltimore Ravens

Listen up, George Kittle fantasy managers. Harold Fannin Jr should have been your number one priority with the news that Kittle will miss the next four games. Fannin finished as the TE6 with 13.6 fantasy points in Week 1. He had nine targets and seven receptions. Now, he faces the Baltimore Ravens, who gave up the third most fantasy points to tight ends last week. Fannin and David Njoku can both thrive together with how much Joe Flacco throws.

Hunter Henry @ Miami Dolphins

Hunter Henry is reliable. He is not going to be a top-five tight end, but he gets you useful points. He had 10.6 fantasy points last week and now faces the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins gave up 14.9 fantasy points to Tyler Warren. I believe Henry will have at least 15 fantasy points in Week 2 and score a touchdown.

Tight End Sits

David Njoku @ Baltimore Ravens

I am a fan of the new shiny toy. David Njoku’s time is running out on the Cleveland Browns, and Fannin is taking over. Yes, I did state that they both can thrive together, but if I had to pick between the two for the rest of the season, it would be Fannin. Njoku had just 6.7 fantasy points last week, and I feel confident with him as one of my sits in Week 2.

Zach Ertz @ Green Bay Packers

Zach Ertz had 11.6 fantasy points last week, but the touchdown is what caused that. He had just 26 yards with three receptions. You simply cannot rely on a guy who needs to score a touchdown to give you valuable production at the tight end position. If you are desperate, do it, but there are many better streaming options if you do not have one of the top tight ends this year.
