NFL Week 4 Sunday Night Football Preview

Micah Parsons will be looking to show up his former team in this Sunday Night Football game. The Dallas Cowboys always manage to draft talent, but it never results in any postseason success. Letting go of an incredible defensive talent in Parsons may bite them but they have even more concerns now. The CeeDee Lamb injury opens up opportunities for other Dallas receivers. Green Bay will be looking to fill the void that Jayden Reed left as well. Sunday Night Football will tell us a lot about both teams and their receivers’ fantasy value in Week 4.

Week 4 Sunday Night Football Preview

Green Bay Packers (-6.5) at Dallas Cowboys O/U: 46.5

Fantasy Football Players to Watch

Matthew Golden – WR, Green Bay Packers

Remember to be patient with rookies. Every year there are players who start hot and stay hot. That’s just not the case for everyone. Matthew Golden is on a team with a lot of receiving options, and with a great defense that limits his opportunities each week. I think it’s only fair that people let him take time and develop rather than freak out after two weeks of middling target numbers. Golden had his best NFL game this past week against the Cleveland Browns, catching all 4 of his targets for 52 yards. He also saw a game-high 3 rushing attempts, further showcasing that Green Bay sees him as a playmaker both as a rusher and receiver.

The loss of Jayden Reed opened the door for someone to step up, and Golden is the youngest of the group, with the highest draft capital. That bit of information did not immediately translate into fantasy relevance, but he should achieve it sooner rather than later. The Cowboys are a perfect opportunity for Green Bay to showcase their young receiver. Dallas allows a league-high 864 passing yards through Week 3, while letting passers throw 7 TDs to 1 INT. The Cowboys have been missing CB Daron Bland, and he’s expected to play this week. However, he is unlikely to shadow Golden much. The Packers seem committed to giving Golden the ball in any way possible, and he is on the field more often now without Reed. It’s only natural that he could truly break out with a big game against a struggling but healing defense.

Romeo Doubs – WR, Green Bay Packers

Everything that applies to Matthew Golden mostly applies to Romeo Doubs. The Reed injury has presented an immense opportunity for this offense to consolidate their targets. While there will still be a fair spread between the top 3 WRs, Tucker Kraft, and even Josh Jacobs, Doubs consistently draws targets. Since entering the league in 2022, Doubs has earned 235 targets. Doubs finished tied for 3rd, 1st, and 3rd in team targets in each of those seasons. While he has never been a big downfield threat or the guy who can turn a short target into a massive gain, he is reliable.

If you’re looking for a true floor play in a deep league, Doubs is your guy. I would not expect massive upside with much consistency, but there could be more boom weeks as targets consolidate. The Dallas Cowboys are a great matchup for any receiver, but it should again be noted that Daron Bland should return this week.

Jake Ferguson – TE, Dallas Cowboys

Your 2025 Dallas Cowboys target leader is none other than tight end Jake Ferguson. It’s crazy to think that the 26-year-old is tied for the oldest player on the team to draw at least 10 targets so far. Dak Prescott leads the league in both targets and completions, which is generally good for his pass catchers. The loss of CeeDee Lamb, while only temporary, will change things a lot, though. Teams will no longer have to scheme against an elite receiver; instead, they will focus their time on Ferguson and George Pickens. A pitiful defense should still keep Dallas throwing in most games, though.

Being underdogs by just shy of a touchdown bodes well for a game script that favors Dallas’ pass catchers. The Packers present a challenge as one of the best defenses in the league, but they have been especially bad against tight ends. In Week 1, Sam LaPorta caught 6 of 9 targets for a team-high 79 yards. Then, in Week 2, Zach Ertz caught 6 of 8 targets for a team-high 64 yards while also scoring. Finally, in Week 3, David Njoku caught 5 of his 7 targets for a team-high 40 yards. That’s with rookie TE Harold Fannin Jr. adding 25 yards on 4 targets. Do you see a pattern here? Ferguson will have more attention on him, but I have no problem firing him up in fantasy football in Week 4.

KaVontae Turpin – WR, Dallas Cowboys

Turpin may only have 9 targets on the season, 6th amongst Cowboys players, but his 129 receiving yards ranks 4th on the team. His 12.3 aDOT ranks 37th amongst qualified WRs per Pro Football Reference, and is eerily similar to CeeDee Lamb’s 12.6. George Pickens does have great deep-threat ability, especially when it comes to contested catches and drawing flags. However, his aDOT has only been 10.4 in his limited time in Dallas.

Usage has been low in Turpin’s fourth season, but he has seen a gradual increase in targets and rush attempts each year. In fact, Turpin’s 5 carries is tied for 3rd amongst WRs to start the 2025 season. He ran 11 times for 110 yards and a TD in 2023, and he followed that up with 16 rushes for 92 yards in 2024. Don’t forget that Turpin returned a punt and a kick for a TD last year, too. The CeeDee Lamb injury opens up opportunities for all Dallas pass catchers, but Turpin is one of the few who can find value in three different facets. It’s impossible to predict how he will do as a rusher or returner on a week-by-week basis, but if his receiving work leads to limited fantasy relevancy, he could add even more work to increase his upside. You can’t start him in many leagues yet, but watch his usage on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
