👻 Week 7 Recap: Bo’s Resurrection, Dart’s Grit, and Mahomes’ Magic
The Mile High may never be the same after the Broncos and Giants delivered one of the wildest finishes of the season. Bo Nix turned a quiet, ghostly afternoon into a supernatural comeback for the ages — rising from QB30 to the overall QB1 in just one monstrous quarter. It was the kind of fantasy finish that makes you Bo-lieve in miracles.
Across the field, rookie sensation Jaxson Dart kept his name glowing, carving up Denver’s defense for 29.4 fantasy points (QB3). He’s quickly ascending into must-start territory, showing poise and playmaking that’s anything but rookie-like. Still, a trip to Philadelphia in Week 8 will test his courage against a defense that can turn even the hottest QBs ice cold.
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes continued his fantasy MVP-level rampage, finishing as QB5 and proving that no defense can quench his fire. Over in Cincinnati, Joe Flacco reminded everyone he still has plenty of candy left in his pillowcase, racking up 26 points (QB6) while dueling fellow veteran Aaron Rodgers (QB7) in a battle that felt like a throwback thriller. Flacco’s chemistry with his loaded cast of pass-catchers is keeping him fantasy-relevant — and maybe a little scary to bench.
Jayden Daniels, on the other hand, was slicing up defenders like a fantasy slasher villain before a hamstring injury pulled the curtain early on what was shaping up to be another top-five performance. His status for Week 8 is murky at best, which could summon Marcus Mariota into the starting role — a true Trick or Treat situation for Washington’s offense.
Now, let’s open the crypt and see which quarterbacks are rising from the dead in Week 8… and which might leave your fantasy hopes in pieces — like a Jigsaw puzzle you’d rather not solve.
🔥 High-Total Games (Shootout Potential – 47+)
These matchups project the most offensive fireworks, offering elite upside for quarterbacks and pass-catchers alike.
Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos — 49.5 (DEN -3.5)
Bo Nix is coming off a performance of a lifetime, and at home against a Cowboys team that loves to push the pace, this matchup has shootout written all over it. Nix should have no issues making it two QB1 performances in a row in a game that could reach the 50-point mark.
Dak Prescott will look to make it five QB1 performances in a row, even in a tough matchup on the road against a strong Broncos defense. Both quarterbacks are top-10 plays in what should be one of the week’s most fantasy-friendly environments.
Chicago Bears at Baltimore Ravens — 49.5 (BAL -7)
Lamar Jackson (hamstring) is set to return following Baltimore’s bye week and is the clear QB1 for Week 8. He should carve up a struggling Bears defense at home.
Caleb Williams’ dual-threat skill set gives him a fighting chance to post decent fantasy numbers, but he’ll likely spend most of the afternoon playing catch-up, giving him a solid floor and sneaky high upside.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints — 47.0 (TB -4.5)
Baker Mayfield has been one of fantasy’s biggest surprises, and this week’s NFC South clash is another strong spot. His fearless style keeps him inside QB1 range against a struggling Saints defense, even without Mike Evans (collarbone).
Spencer Rattler has been steady but unspectacular — a safe QB2 if you’re in need of a floor play with decent upside at home.
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts — 47.0 (IND -14.5)
The Colts have been one of the league’s most explosive offenses, averaging over 30 points per game across their last four contests. Daniel Jones continues to impress with his dual-threat ability, and in a projected high-total home matchup, he’s a locked-in QB1.
Cam Ward will need garbage-time magic to stay relevant, but he’s best left for desperate Superflex lineups.
⚖️ Mid-Range Totals (Balanced – 44 to 47)
These games could swing either way depending on pace, defensive strength, and turnovers.
Buffalo Bills at Carolina Panthers — 46.5 (BUF -7.5)
Josh Allen had two uneven performances before Buffalo’s bye week, finishing as the QB12 and QB17. He’s a no-brainer top-five option against Carolina, even on the road.
With Bryce Young (ankle) expected to sit, Andy Dalton will be in catch-up mode — a viable low-end QB2 for volume alone.
Miami Dolphins at Atlanta Falcons — 45.0 (ATL -7.5)
Michael Penix Jr. continues to show promise with his arm strength and aggressiveness downfield. However, he may not need to do much here — Miami is giving up the most fantasy points to running backs this season.
Tua Tagovailoa, meanwhile, has cooled considerably and faces a tough road environment. He’s a risky start in Week 8.
Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers — 45.0 (GB -3)
Jordan Love has been unspectacular the past two weeks, finishing as QB19 and QB17. This week, he travels to Pittsburgh and should deliver high-to-mid QB2 numbers.
Aaron Rodgers had a fantastic outing last week against a struggling Bengals defense but faces a much tougher test here against his former team.
Minnesota Vikings at L.A. Chargers — 45.0 (LAC -3)
Justin Herbert exploded for 29.9 fantasy points, throwing for a season-high 420 yards and three touchdowns. The Vikings’ defense has been vulnerable to deep shots, and Herbert should have no issues taking advantage at home.
J.J. McCarthy (ankle) should return, but he’s a risky play on the road — better suited for deep leagues. Herbert is a locked-in QB1.
New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals — 44.5 (CIN -7)
Joe Flacco continues to deliver elite fantasy performances and should find success against a reeling Jets secondary.
Tyrod Taylor’s legs offer slight upside, but his offensive line remains an issue. Expect Cincinnati to control the pace while Flacco posts solid mid-QB2 numbers.
N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia Eagles — 44.0 (PHI -7.5)
Jalen Hurts remains matchup-proof and a top-three fantasy play. Jaxson Dart has been a pleasant surprise, but Philly’s front seven could make life miserable for him. Expect Hurts to roll while Dart’s rushing keeps him afloat as a low-end QB2.
🛑 Low-Total Games (Defensive Grind – 43 or Less)
Expect slower tempos, ground-heavy game plans, and limited fantasy fireworks.
San Francisco 49ers at Houston Texans — 41.5 (HOU -1)
Brock Purdy (toe) has missed the last three weeks but is trending in the right direction to play. It’s not a guarantee, so have a backup plan in place.
If Purdy starts, he should provide low-end QB1 numbers. C.J. Stroud’s recent struggles continue, making him a desperation play at best.
Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots — 40.5 (NE -7.5)
Drake Maye looks poised and polished — a solid top-10 fantasy QB this week against a beatable Browns defense.
Dillon Gabriel is a non-factor outside of deep leagues, as New England’s defense should dominate time of possession and keep Cleveland in check.
🧛♂️ Monday Night Mayhem
Washington Commanders at Kansas City Chiefs — 48.0 (KC -10)
If you want fireworks to close out the week, this is it. Patrick Mahomes should torch Washington’s secondary and remain the QB1 overall.
Marcus Mariota’s rushing gives him a floor, but unless he scrambles for a score or two, he’s tough to trust. Expect another Mahomes masterpiece under the lights.
