Week 8 Dynasty Football Trade Suggestions

Week 8 of the NFL season is upon us, and that means most teams should be settling in now as contenders or rebuilders. From personal experience, more managers have been willing to trade this week than in weeks past. And that means there are plenty of suggestions to be made for both contenders and rebuilders. So, let’s dive right into improving those dynasty teams.

Dynasty Football Trade Suggestions Week 8

Contenders

Trade for Derrick Henry

Look, it hasn’t been the season fantasy managers had hoped for from Derrick Henry. The offense has not looked the same since Week 1. A week in which Derrick Henry was the overall RB1. That feels like a lifetime ago at this rate. Playing without Lamar Jackson has been tough for the entire team. However, Jackson will be returning this week, just in time to play against the Chicago Bears. And this is the perfect spot for the whole offense to get right. The Bears are giving up the fifth-most rushing yards and the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

And after this week, the team gets to play the Miami Dolphins. The team is giving up the third-most fantasy points to the position. And we all just watched Quinshon Judkins score three times on the ground against them. So if you need a few big wins in the coming weeks, Henry is the perfect running back to trade for. He also has both his matchups with the Bengals, including one in the fantasy playoffs. I would consider trading an early-second round pick, but I’m comfortable with a late-first round pick on a contender.

Trade for Chase Brown

Speaking of the Cincinnati Bengals, Joe Flacco has revitalized the offense in a big way. And that is good for everyone involved. We have already seen it for Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins against the Steelers. Next in line is Chase Brown, who had a good game that went under the radar. Brown had 11 carries for 108 yards in the matchup. That is a stark improvement from where he has been this season.

Now, Brown has quite a challenging schedule in the coming weeks, but the weeks after are something to get excited about. His playoff schedule in order is Baltimore, Miami, and then Arizona. All three teams are currently in the top 12 of fantasy points allowed to the position. Baltimore and Miami are also among the top three in that statistic. It may be worth getting ahead of the pack with a trade. I would move a second-round pick, plus a player of prospect caliber.

Rebuilders

Trade for Impending Free Agents

This advice applies greatly to the running back position. We mentioned Breece Hall last week, but Kenneth Walker and potentially Travis Etienne may eventually fall into this bucket. These three players are starting to irritate dynasty managers. It is evident they are talented players, but that is not translating to fantasy points. Now, the thinking here is that they are all free agents this offseason. And seemingly, the two spots everyone wanted filled last offseason in the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears went unfilled for the most part.

Both of those teams could yet again be in the market for an upgrade at the position. Getting ahead of things could pay dividends. If one of those running backs lands there, you can either trade them away if you are not ready to compete, or enjoy what is likely several RB1 seasons. Javonte Williams and J.K. Dobbins are also free agents, but I believe they will likely re-sign in their current spots. I am okay with packaging players that would help contenders more now if they are on your rosters. Outside of picks, Walker and Hall are the ones I would focus on trading for. Given their current situations, I don’t see them staying in their current spots.

Final Thoughts

A trade column all about running backs today. The rebuilder side is more of a risk, but we all know by now that if you want picks, you can likely easily go out and do so whenever you’d like. Other players for the rebuilders that I did not get to mention would include Colston Loveland, and all of the rookie receivers that have not produced yet. Tre Harris, Jayden Higgins, and Luther Burden would be at the top of my list if the trade package permits. So, there are plenty of trade targets for both rebuilders and contenders. Just remember not to get stuck in the middle and choose a direction before it is too late, because that time is quickly approaching.
