Thursday Night Football DFS Picks – Raiders vs. Broncos

Another week is upon us. We have a divisional matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos to begin Week 10. The Broncos are in the midst of a six-game winning streak and are also unbeaten in their four home games this year. Las Vegas, on the other hand, is on a two-game losing streak and has a record of 2-6. Denver is favored by 9.5 points, and with an over/under of 42.5, the Raiders aren’t expected to generate much offense. Now, it’s time to take a look at our Thursday Night Football DFS picks so you can set that winning lineup.

Thursday Night Football DFS Notes

Nix Does What He Needs To

As a quarterback, it’s all about one thing: leading your team to victory. Bo Nix has clearly shown the ability to do just that. That doesn’t mean we should ignore him from a DFS perspective, though. There’s a reason why Nix is the highest player on the slate tonight, but I wouldn’t consider him a must-start. The problem, though, is that with 21.1 DraftKings points per game, Nix is the most prolific player.

Through nine games, Nix is averaging 220 passing yards per game as Denver uses him as a game manager more than anything else. Nix has 17 touchdowns, compared to six interceptions, so far this season. His 207 rushing yards also provide some additional DFS value.

Will the Game Cooperate?

The problem for Ashton Jeanty is how many carries will he get tonight? It’s unclear how good a job the Raiders will do at keeping things close, and that will have some impact on Jeanty’s performance.

For multiple reasons, the Broncos are allowing the fifth fewest DK points to opposing running backs. Jeanty has one game with single-digit targets and has 124 carries in eight games so far this year. The rookie is averaging a solid 61 yards per game. Perhaps more importantly, Jeanty has six touchdowns while carving out a role in the receiving game.

Denver will have to lean on Jeanty, and with the trade of Jakobi Meyers, there are some available targets to be had.

The Raider to Target

It goes without saying, but we should qualify something with Brock Bowers. Quite simply, he’s not going to catch three touchdown passes again like he did last week. It’s an entirely different game flow and matchup than last week for Bowers and the Raiders. But that doesn’t mean Bowers won’t be targeted early and often.

As Las Vegas will be playing from behind, they’ll have to take to the air. With Meyers now in Jacksonville, someone needs to pick up those targets. It’s not a great matchup for Bowers, but game flow also matters.

Through five games, he’s averaging 70 yards per game after reaching the end zone for the first time last week. There’s no questioning what he’s capable of, and the opportunity is there.

Follow the Targets

Over the past three weeks, Troy Franklin has been targeted 28 times. Franklin turned that into 13 catches for 135 yards. Obviously, we’d like to see more yardage out of Franklin, but it’s hard to question the role. Especially from a PPR perspective, there’s real value in that. The fact that Franklin has three touchdowns in that stretch also kicks things up a notch. Marvin Mims being out also helps.

What Do We Make of Harvey?

When the ball is in his hand, RJ Harvey can do big things with his explosiveness on display. The problem, though, is that aside from one game of 14 carries, Harvey’s seven carries two weeks ago were his career high. Last week, he only carried the ball two times for five yards, although he was busy through the air.

With five catches for 51 yards and a touchdown, Harvey showed what he can do as a receiver. In fact, Harvey has a receiving touchdown in each of his last three games. If the Broncos get out to an early lead, this could be a strong game for Harvey.

Will It Continue?

Even with Brock Bowers back, Michael Meyer was still targeted seven times last week. Granted, that turned into just three catches for 26 yards, but the volume was there. When given a chance, Meyer has produced in the past. There are available targets, and with Las Vegas likely trailing, they should take it through the air.

Tucker Steps Up

The trade of Meyers means someone has to step up from a receiver perspective. If it’s not going to be Bowers, then Tre Tucker is the next likely candidate.

Tucker has had some strong games this season, which included an eight-catch effort for 145 yards and three touchdowns. The problem is that these were three of Tucker’s four touchdowns on the season. He’s averaging 53.4 yards per game and was averaging around five targets per game.
