Roles are changing in net all around the NHL, and certain goalies are getting opportunities due to injuries or poor play by the prior starter. This is a great opportunity to jump on a goalie in a bigger role and have that addition help you for at least this week.

Fantasy Hockey Week 6 Goalie Streamers
Yaroslav Askarov, San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks are starting to find their game. They aren’t a tossaway team anymore and the defensive side of their game has started to follow the offense. Yaroslav Askarov has benefited from that in goal and has taken more starts in net as well. He started the season splitting the first eight games, but has played in six of the nine previous games, winning three in a row and four out of five games.
Askarov has a .916 SV% over that recent stretch of good games, and the Sharks have an easy schedule in front of them, where he is expected to play two of the games. The opponents are the Minnesota Wild, Calgary Flames, and Seattle Kraken.
Akira Schmid, Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights have gone with their young guys in net, but Akira Schmid has the upper hand in starting more games. He has won six of eight games this season and got a shutout last week. The Golden Knights are a good team and give him a chance to win every night, even if he doesn’t have his A game.
Schmid has been playing every second game, but he has some consecutive games mixed in this season as well. With four games on tap for Vegas this week, there is a good chance that he gets in two, likely against the New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild. The other two games the Golden Knights play are against the Florida Panthers and St. Louis Blues, two more struggling teams.
Arturs Silovs, Pittsburgh Penguins
Arturs Silovs was splitting the net with a rejuvenated Tristan Jarry before the veteran got injured. Now it’s Silovs’ net until Jarry returns. The expectation is that Silovs will start every game that isn’t a back-to-back. He has gotten a bit unlucky with his starts this season, as he hasn’t gotten as much run support, but the Pittsburgh Penguins will have to change that.
The Penguins have scored five total goals in Silovs’ last three losses, and he put up a SV% better than .940 in two of them. He has a .900 SV% or better in six of his last seven starts, and that doesn’t include his season-opening shutout. Silovs has a 2.49 GAA and .916 SV% on the season, and the team faces the Nashville Predators twice this week. He should start both, especially if the first game goes generally well.
