NHL Injury Report for January 27:
Brock Boeser, Vancouver Canucks

Things go from bad to worse for the Canucks. Boeser took a hit to the head late in the game on Sunday against the Penguins from Bryan Rust and has now been placed on injury reserve.
He’s going to miss at least three weeks. The good news is that the Olympics are just around the corner, and he’ll be able to recover without missing games. That said, with 25 points in 50 games so far, it has been mostly a forgettable season for Boeser anyway. This might be the ultimate buy-low opportunity on Boeser – only if you’re looking to 2026-27.
Jonathan Lekkerimaki has been recalled from Abbotsford to fill his spot in the lineup. With the Canucks sitting in last place, he should get a solid look in a middle-six role.
William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs

"Hopefully will be back playing some time on the road trip so that’s where I have my mind at"

Five thousand dollars lighter, Nylander is hoping to be back in the Leafs’ line-up during their four-game road trip. He has yet to participate in a full practice, so let’s rule out Thursday against the Seattle Kraken.
I suspect we see Nylander in the second half of the trip, in Calgary on Saturday or Edmonton on Tuesday.
Luke Hughes, New Jersey Devils

The other nine-million-dollar defenseman finds himself on long-term injured reserve after suffering a separated shoulder last Wednesday. From the video, this is about as unlucky as it gets. Hughes was on pace for a repeat 44-point season, a repeat of last year’s production. He hasn’t taken the step forward most expected him to take this year. Perhaps this injury and the Olympic break will result in a boost when he returns.
Speaking of boosts, Dougie Hamilton was already running full steam ahead before Hughes’ injury. Expect him to lock down the power play quarterbacking responsibilities moving forward.
Simon Nemec looks to benefit while Hughes is out. He should scoop the second unit duties
Dylan Holloway, St. Louis Blues
Holloway has returned to St. Louis to have an MRI on his ankle and won't play in Friday's game against Dallas, Andy Strickland of FanDuel Sports Network reports. #stlblues

The injury bug continues for Holloway. Listed day-to-day with a high ankle sprain, it might be wise for the Blues to hold him out until after the Olympic break, which is just over a week away.
This is the type of injury that can linger. If he returns before the break, it is unlikely he’s 100%. Then we hope he doesn’t reinjure himself and make things worse.
it has been a tough year for Holloway.
Simon Edvinsson, Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings defenseman Simon Edvinsson is out until the Olympic break with a lower body injury, Todd McLellan said.

Edvinsson will miss the next five games with a lower-body injury. It also rules him out as a potential injury replacement for Sweden in the Olympics.
He has really emerged this year as a blossoming multi-cat stud. In 48 games, he’s pulled in 54 penalty minutes, 63 hits, and 104 blocks. The 17 points won’t win him scoring titles, but at 6’6″ and with only 151 NHL games, there remains a lot of room and time for his production to increase.
