Waiver Wire Streams for Week 3

Justin Faulk (D, Detroit Red Wings) Rostered 47%

Faulk is on a modest three-game point streak and is now has 5 points in 8 games to start the year. The Red Wings are looking for a bright spot in their season, and Faulk is emerging as one. He also added 3:14 on the power play last game, producing a power-play point.

Even though the Red Wings only play three games this week, all on busy nights, their opponents are giving up an average of 4.08 goals per game.

Reason to add: Faulk is on a three-game point streak; Detroit has the softest schedule this week.

Gabriel Landeskog (LW, Colorado Avalanche) Rostered 57%

Landeskog is also on a three-game point streak. With the Avalanche playing four games this week and three of those on off-nights, Landeskog looks like a premium add. He’s also spending most of his five-on-five time with Brock Nelson (C) and Nazem Kadri (C/LW). His ice time remains two minutes below his pre-knee injury workload, but each game brings another glimpse of the player he was before the injury

Reason to add: Has a three-game point streak, guaranteed three extra games due to off-night games.

Christian Dvorak (C, Philadelphia Flyers) Rostered 17%

I know, the Flyers are a tire fire. Still, someone has to score, and Dvorak has three points in his last four games. In those four games, he’s averaging almost 19 minutes per game. The Flyers also have two off-night games and play one of the softest schedules. Their opponents are giving up 3.08 goals per game (7th softest). Maybe the win last game was a one-off, or maybe it’s the sign of things to come.

Reason to add: Two off-night games, three points in last four games.

Danil Yurov (C, Minnesota Wild)

Yurov is starting to turn things on with three goals and nine shots in his last four games. The Wild’s four road opponents are giving up an average of 3.8 goals per game. It really is the Wild West right now, with Vancouver, Edmonton, and Seattle scoring as many goals as they are giving up.

Reason to add: Yurov is heading up; the Wild’s opponents are giving up boatloads of goals.

Alex Nedeljkovic (G, San Jose Sharks) Rostered 24%

Yaroslav Askarov (G) might still be the goalie of the future, but right now, he’s letting in beachballs. With a 3.99 GAA and a .848 SV%, it’s shocking his record is 2-3. Meanwhile, Nedeljkovic is 2-0-1 with a .920 SV%. The Sharks didn’t add Darnell Nurse (D) and Jacob Trouba (D) to draft first overall again. They expect to make noise in the standings. You can’t do that giving up goals on 15% of shots against.

The Sharks have back-to-back games to start the week (Monday & Tuesday). They’ll split those starts. If Askarov struggles in his start, don’t be surprised if they lean on Nedeljkovic for the final two games this week.

Reason to add: Askarov has been dreadful, and Nedeljkovic has been solid.
