Week 7 D/ST Streamers

All D/STs are rostered in under 50% of Fantrax leagues

Last week’s stashes: New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Fantrax Rostership: 50% (Other Platforms: 20% – 31%)

We don’t know who will start at QB for the Buccaneers this week. No matter if it is Baker Mayfield or Jalon Daniels, this is still an ideal matchup for the Panthers D/ST. In three starts, Daniels has thrown four interceptions and has taken nine sacks. He has also failed to throw for 200 yards in a game, though he does add a few dozen yards on the ground. Baker Mayfield was averaging just 205 passing yards per game and threw just two TDs to two interceptions. Mayfield was also sacked 13 times in three games. The Buccaneers offense is clearly off, and fantasy points will be plentiful regardless of the QB. Stream the Panthers D/ST in Week 7 in a great matchup.

New York Jets (vs. Miami Dolphins)

Fantrax Rostership: 38% (Other Platforms: 8% – 23%)

While Drake Maye took down the Jets with ease, the Dolphins should be a great bounce-back spot. While Miami’s offense looks good at times, they’re still allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing D/STs. Malik Willis is having arguably his worst season ever, scoring four total TDs but turning the ball over seven times. Willis is averaging under 170 passing yards per game, and the Dolphins have scored 13 or fewer points in four of their five games.

Malik Willis has been sacked 14 times and faces a Jets defense that ranks fifth in sacks. The Jets also generate pressure on 25.7% of opposing dropbacks, the seventh-highest in the league according to Pro Football Reference. Rookie DE David Bailey has already accumulated five sacks and three forced fumbles in his first five professional games. There is plenty of upside on the Jets defense. You can stream their D/ST in Week 7.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at Carolina Panthers)

Fantrax Rostership: 34% (Other Platforms: 7% – 26%)

Despite the perception around the Buccaneers, their defense has excelled. Tampa Bay limited the Steelers to just three points in the first three quarters of last week’s game. While the Steelers eventually scored 23 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, the Buccaneers still scored seven fantasy points. The Buccaneers are now averaging eight fantasy points and rank as the D/ST15 on the year. Aside from a poor performance against the Browns early in the year, Tampa Bay has scored at least seven fantasy points in all of their games this season.

While overall sacks and takeaways are limited, the Buccaneers have found ways to score fantasy points. They’re also sixth in defensive DVOA. They face a Panthers offense that has looked good all year. Bryce Young is averaging over 300 passing yards per game and has thrown 11 TD to just two interceptions. The Panthers rank eight in offensive DVOA and could give the division-rival Buccaneers trouble. There is a reason that the Buccaneers are available in so many leagues this week. While the matchup is not ideal, the actual defensive performance could be there. This is a bottom-of-the-barrel pick, but it’s worth a shot if you’re desperate. You can stream the Buccaneers D/ST in Week 7.

D/STs to Stash

Detroit Lions v Vikings

While Detroit’s defense ranks 25th in DVOA, they face a terrible Vikings offense next week. Minnesota’s offense ranks 27th in DVOA and averages under 16 points on offense per game since Week 2. The Vikings allow the eight most fantasy points to opposing D/STs and should continue to offer fantasy value. While the Lions defense has been bad, they get a great matchup and are worst stashing for next week.

Atlanta Falcons @ TB

If you need a refresher on how bad both Baker Mayfield and Jalon Daniels have been, refer to the Panthers D/ST section of this article. The Falcons draw one of the best D/ST matchups, though it is a divisional game on the road. Regardless, this is a fairly average defense going up against an offense that allows a ton of sacks and turns the ball over fairly often. You can target the Buccaneers every week.
