Weekly Winners for Fantasy Football – Week 7
Jordan Love vs. DET
Jordan Love has scored 25.3 then 21.2 Fantasy Points the last two weeks, which are scores of a viable top-10 Fantasy quarterback. Love threw two passing touchdowns in all of Weeks 1-5 and then threw one and rushed for one in Week 6. Love has also finished weeks with 387 (Week 1), 312 (Week 3), and 367 (Week 5) passing yards, which shows true upside there. Love currently ranks third in passing yards and tied for seventh in passing touchdowns.
Up next for Love is a Lions defense that allows the most Fantasy PPG and the most passing yards per game this season. This is a huge NFC North matchup, in a division where all four teams have winning records. Smash matchup for a guy with plenty of passing upside this season, who will have to match the Lions’ powerful offense. The last time Love faced the Lions last season, he threw four touchdowns against them in Week 13.
C.J. Stroud vs. NYG
C.J. Stroud has scored 23.1, 20.9, and then 24.0 Fantasy Points across the last three weeks. Solid consistency there. Stroud has finished three games with multiple passing touchdowns, and three weeks with over 300 passing yards. Stroud only trails Matthew Stafford in total passing yards so far this season. The addition of Stroud’s former college teammate, Marvin Harrison Jr., is also a nice boost to this offense. We are seeing a nice career turnaround so far.
Stroud will face a Giants defense in Week 7 that allows the seventh-most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks. Jaylin Noel has been stepping up recently, Nico Collins still has alpha WR1 DNA, and Marvin Harrison Jr. will continue to grow in his new home. If the Texans are going to win games, it is going to be through the air vs. on the ground, so look for plenty of passing in this one.
Bo Nix vs. ARI
Bo Nix has been useless for Fantasy Football in five of his six games this season so far, with the exception being 25.1 Fantasy Points in Week 3. In that game, Nix threw for 186 yards and produced three total touchdowns. While Nix has not turned the ball over through the air in the last three games, he has only thrown two touchdowns during this span. People will forget that this same quarterback has finished inside the top-12 in Fantasy PPG the last two seasons.
Week 7 presents a “get right” game for Nix. Nix will face a Cardinals defense that allows the fourth-most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks and the 11th-most passing yards per game this season. The Cardinals have allowed three or more passing touchdowns in four games this season, with two of those games being against “backup” quarterbacks. Nix has been frustrating, but look for him to be of use this week in a good matchup.
Jaylen Warren vs. NO
Jaylen Warren is coming off of a down Fantasy Football week, but had a solid stretch of three games before that with scores of 20.6, 15.6, and then 36.8 Fantasy Points. In this stretch of games, Warren rushed for 127, 93, and 101 yards while also having games of 49 and 87 receiving yards. The dual-threat upside was on full display during this stretch and is set to pop off in Week 7.
Warren will face a Saints defense in Week 7 that allows the most Fantasy PPG to running backs and ranks third in rushing yards allowed per game this season. Rico Dowdle returned last week, but Warren still played 75% of the snaps and earned 18 opportunities. Even if Dowdle gets more work this week, I expect Warren to earn plenty still and be the one involved in the passing game against New Orleans.
Bucky Irving vs. CAR
Bucky Irving is coming off of a down Fantasy week, but the positive from it was the 21 total touches, which is solid volume. In Week 5, Irving rushed 21 times for 165 yards and a touchdown, and added a receiving touchdown for 31.5 Fantasy Points. Week 1, Bucky scored 20.3 Fantasy Points, which was heavily boosted by his seven receptions. So despite some down weeks, we have seen the upside potential regardless of who is at quarterback for Tampa Bay.
Irving has a favorable matchup in Week 7 against a Panthers defense that allows the fifth-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the sixth-most rushing yards per game this season. With back-to-back games of 21+ touches, I expect Bucky to get plenty of work to support him having a good Fantasy outing in a matchup that supports it.
Aaron Jones Sr. vs. IND
Jordan Mason is set to return from the IR this week, but I still am a fan of playing Aaron Jones in Fantasy Football. Jones hs trended up from 14.2 to 16.8 to 18.7 Fantasy Points the last three games played, which were all quality scores. Jones has rushed for 105 (Week 2), 94 (Week 4), and 113 (Week 5) yards, which shows juice on the ground, and also has finished two games with 34 receiving yards. The volume may take a hit from the 28 touches Jones saw in Week 5, but he looks great this season.
Up next for Jones is a Colts defense that allows the sixth-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the 11th-most rushing yards per game this season. The Colts are coming off of back-to-back losses, so if the Vikings defense can slow Jonathan Taylor down, the game script could be favorable for both Jones and Mason to eat. I’m riding Jones’ hot hand, who should be fresh following the Vikings’ bye week.
Blake Corum vs. LV
Blake Corum can be a sneaky sleeper for Fantasy Football in Week 7. Corum has scored 16.2 and 14 Fantasy Points across the last two weeks, which would be useful in most lineups. Corum rushed for a touchdown and caught three balls for 52 yards in Week 5, then rushed for 42 yards and scored a receiving touchdown in Week 6. Corum produced these numbers on eight and 11 total touches, which shows some great Fantasy efficiency.
Corum will face a Raiders defense in Week 7 that allows the eighth-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the fifth-most rushing yards per game. Even with Kyren Williams operating as the lead back, there is opportunity for Corum to deliver double-digit Fantasy Points for a third-straight week in this favorable matchup. Corum should have earned more touches as well with his recent touchdown production and yardage efficiency as a dual-threat option.
DeVonta Smith vs. DAL
After missing two games and losing Jalen Hurts for the season, DeVonta Smith bounced back well for Fantasy Football in Week 6 via 20.5 Fantasy Points. Tanner McKee targeted Smith 14 times, which was great volume, and Smith caught seven of those for 75 yards and a touchdown. Smith racked up 117 yards and a touchdown via 10 catches back in Week 2 for 27.7 Fantasy Points, so that marks two 20+ weeks out of four games played.
DVS will face a Cowboys defense in Week 7 that allows the sixth-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the 10th-most passing yards per game this season. McKee hyper-targeting Smith is a great sign moving forward, and in a smash matchup that will call for a ton of offense from both ends, Smith should have another big day. Start Smith with confidence, even with a backup quarterback.
Malik Nabers vs. HOU
JJ McCarthy was announced as the Week 7 starting quarterback for the Giants, which may draw some concerns due to JJM struggling to support his Minnesota weapons last season for Fantasy Football. But Malik Nabers has been on absolute fire, with scores of 23.2, 29.1, and then 28.5 Fantasy Points in the last three games. During this span, his yardage has climbed from 112 to 121 to 165, and across the last two games he has earned 35 total targets. Regardless of who the QB is, Nabers is a vital piece of this passing game plan and is truly looking healthy.
Nabers will face a Houston defense in Week 7 that allows the second-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the sixth-most passing yards per game this season. The Texans are strong at limiting the run, but have been friendly through the air, and it is tough to know what is even going to happen with this Giants backfield. Nabers should continue to earn heavy looks in Week 7 and should make the most of them in this matchup.
Denzel Boston vs. TEN
Denzel Boston had his worst Fantasy Football week of the season in Week 6, but do not let that shy you away from him in Week 7. Boston has finished four weeks with 12+ Fantasy Points, with a high of 20.5 points in Week 2. Boston racked up 95 yards in Week 2, 89 yards in Week 4, and has scored three touchdowns across the first six weeks of football. Boston has finished every week with 15+ yards per catch, with half of those being at 20+ yards per catch, which shows his big-play ability.
Boston will face a Titans defense in Week 7 that allows the 10th most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers. Boston has been targeted seven times in three of his last five games played, so I expect him to earn some good looks that give him the opportunity to make big plays. Boston has produced sneaky FLEX value for more games than not this season, and Week 7 is a good bounce-back opportunity to continue doing the same.
Jaylen Waddle vs. ARI
Jaylen Waddle has been disappointing in four of his six games played, with those games resulting in under seven Fantasy Points. This goes hand-in-hand with Bo Nix being disappointing this season. Waddle caught eight of his 10 targets for 138 yards back in Week 2 for 21.8 Fantasy Points, and he caught five balls for 35 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 for 14.5 Fantasy Points. So despite the bad, we have seen some useful scores. Seven targets last week were Waddle’s highest since Week 3, so this can also foreshadow better days ahead.
Waddle will face a Cardinals defense in Week 7 that allows the seventh-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the 11th-most passing yards per game this season. In a good matchup where I like Bo Nix this week, I am taking shots on a guy we have seen upside out of this year in Waddle. There is obvious risk due to more good than bad, but if we are playing matchups and knowing what Waddle can do, it should be worth the risk in Week 7.
AJ Brown vs. CHI
AJ Brown returned from injury in Week 6, but was disappointing with just 5.6 Fantasy Points. Encouraging was the 10 targets from Drake Maye upon return, so even though these two connected on just three of those, that is great volume. AJ Brown has produced 1,000+ yards in six seasons, with two of those being at 1,400+ yards, so we know he has upside attached to his name. Playing 76% of the snaps in Week 6 was also a sign that AJB is healthy and ready to take the next step.
AJ Brown will face a Bears defense in Week 7 that allows Christian Watson and Matthew Golden to rack up 143 and 123 yards back in Week 5. That 10-target volume was foreshadowing of bigger days to come, and unfortunately for me as a Bears fan, that big day is set up for Week 7. This game script should scream plenty of offense from both sides of the ball on top of that.
Jalen Coker vs. TB
Jalen Coker returned from injury in Week 6 to catch six of his 13 targets for 97 yards, which was 15.7 Fantasy Points. 13 targets was a season-high; Coker has scored 14+ Fantasy Points now in three of his four games played this season, and he has scored 14+ in all three of his “full” ones. Coker produced 138 receiving yards in Week 1, which shows his receiving ceiling but also is a product of how well Bryce Young has played this season. Following the volume from Week 7 should mean more good things to come in Week 8.
The Buccaneers are a middle-of-the-road matchup for Fantasy wide receivers so far this year, but it is one Coker had a nice Week 18 against last season with 16.7 Fantasy Points. Baker Mayfield is trending towards playing this week, and this NFC South matchup will be important to secure the W in so that the Panthers can remain at the top of this division. While I prefer Tetairoa McMillan over Coker, I still wanted to promote Coker as a solid FLEX play for this week.
Tucker Kraft vs. DET
Tucker Kraft has trended down from 16.5 to 11.6 to 8.7 Fantasy Points across the last three weeks, but is coming off of an eight-target week. Kraft has earned eight targets twice this season and is averaging 6.2 on the season. Kraft has finished three games with five or more receptions, two games over 60 receiving yards, and scored a touchdown in Week 4. The further we move along in the season, the further Kraft is also away from that ACL tear from last year.
Kraft will face a Lions defense in Week 7 that allows the most Fantasy PPG to tight ends and also the most passing yards per game this season. There should be plenty of offense on both sides in this matchup, so with it being a smash tight end matchup, it is double the Kraft boost for this week.
Tyler Higbee vs. LV
Tyler Higbee has a historical connection with Matthew Stafford and has been an important factor in this Rams offense the last four weeks. In Week 3, Higbee caught eight of his 11 targets for 62 yards and a touchdown for 20.2 Fantasy Points. Higbee then racked up 67 yards and 11.7 Fantasy Points in Week 4, then 83 yards and 13.3 Fantasy Points in Week 6. Despite a down Week 6, Higbee still played a season-high 83% of the snaps.
Higbee will face a Raiders defense in Week 7 that allows the seventh-most Fantasy PPG to tight ends and the ninth-most passing yards per game. Davante Adams sustained an injury in Week 6 that will sideline him for a projected 6-10 weeks, and Terrance Ferguson is not returning, so there is appeal to Higbee’s role within a solid matchup here in Week 7.
