John Laub and Justin Heisey join forces to identify the top additions for the Week 9 College Fantasy Football Waiver Wire.
Week 10 College Fantasy Football Waiver Wire
Quarterbacks
Max Duggan, TCU
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 16%
Since early October, Max Duggan has skyrocketed up CFF QB rankings. In the past four games, he has scored 107 fantasy points, ranking twenty-fifth at the position. The true freshman has produced over 21 points in each game, including a season-high 33.8 two weeks ago against Texas. “Hats off…Duggan made some unbelievable throws. He played a great game,” stated Texas coach Tom Herman after Duggan’s performance on star-telegram.com by Drew Davison.
Against Oklahoma State, Duggan could not lead the Horned Frogs to another upset victory and made some poor decision, throwing three interceptions. Luckily at the end of the game, he produced for fantasy owners (like myself) who inserted him into lineups. Duggan passed for 258 yards, rushed for 86 and totaled two touchdowns.
In the next weeks, the TCU field general hosts Baylor and travels to Texas Tech before taking on Oklahoma. The matchups are promising, and Duggan will surely help CFF diehards in need of quarterback production down the stretch. — John
Ty Storey, Western Kentucky
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 2%
Western Kentucky’s offensive scheme looks a lot more like that of the Brandon Doughty and Mike White years than it did last year and that’s exactly what coach Tyson Helton wanted this season. Lucky Jackson’s emergence has enhanced the Topper offense and certainly benefits Arkansas-transfer Ty Storey, who has come on strong in the absence of Steven Duncan.
Storey has put up 20 points in four of his last six games and even managed to do so last week despite throwing three interceptions. Storey faces a slate of slack defenses in Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss, and he even gets a shot at his old team Arkansas this week. The grad-transfer is in a great spot to score points come crunch time for playoff considerable teams. — Justin

Who Ya Got? Biggest game of the year in college football on Saturday:
- Alabama Crimson Tide: 42%
- LSU Tigers: 58%
John’s Vote: LSU
“It is FINALLY the year of the Bayou Bengal.” @aceholesrule.
“LSU has been incredibly fun to watch, but our numbers still have Alabama favored to win.” @CFBWinningEdge
“The answer to Alabama or LSU for next Saturday has to rely on the status of Tua. We don’t have an official number, but he’s gotta be worth at least six or seven points to the spread.” @GadBets
With the playoffs just around the corner, quarterbacks are in demand on the waiver wire. Identify the most interesting signal caller to acquire this week:
- Holton Ahlers, ECU: 18%
- Stephen Calvert, Liberty: 27%
- Josh Love, San Jose State: 18%
- Skylar Thompson, Kansas State: 37%
John’s Vote: Holton Ahlers
Running Backs
Bentavious Thompson, UCF
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 2%
I waited all week to see if Greg McRae would return to the lineup for the Knights. He had missed the previous game against Temple and his status would determine touches in the UCF backfield. Late in the week, Coach Josh Heupel finally announced that McRae would not suit up against Houston.
On Saturday morning, I made the pivot to Bentavious Thompson as an under-valued runner in my DFS lineups. He did not disappoint, scoring 18.5 DraftKings points. It is time to take a closer look at the redshirt sophomore in dynasty and keeper leagues in college fantasy football.
At 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds, Thompson was a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and ESPN and ranked as the No. 25 RB prospect by Rivals. He navigates through traffic well, employing good vision and patience to find holes in the defense. Thompson also runs hard and is a one-cut runner with quick feet. The Knights’ ball carrier leads the team in rushing touchdowns with seven and is second in rushing yards with 467. He has averaged 8.1 yards per carry and secured four catches for 23 yards.
UCF ranks second in Total Offense with 551 yards and 46.3 points per game. The Knights conclude the campaign with Tulsa, Tulane, and South Florida, and there will be a plethora of points produced in each contest. Thompson is worth a speculative add in all league formats this week. — John
Timothy Jackson, Air Force
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 4%
Another week that a triple-option running back is working his way into fantasy prominence. Last week, it was Jamale Carothers and this week it is Timothy Jackson who’s made his mark on the fantasy landscape. Jackson’s carry load is very consistent with 20-plus carries over the past four weeks with a touchdown streak dating back to September 27. Although he isn’t much of a pass catcher, Jackson is one of the very few options still available just weeks before the playoff. — Justin
Isaiah Spiller, Texas A&M
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 22%
I always set my season-long CFF lineups early Saturday morning after finalizing my DFS rosters. While researching matchups, Isaiah Spiller popped off my iMac screen and remained on the waiver wire in two of my leagues. I gobbled him up and started the fantastic freshman. Bazinga!
Against UTSA, Spiller set a career-high with 217 rushing yards, which tied an Aggies’ freshman record. He also crossed the finish line three times on the ground, scoring twice from 50 yards or more. “It was really big, and just kind of, like I say, every week goes back to the work he (Spiller) puts in practice and just understanding what gaps might be there against what certain teams and understanding different fronts. So it’s really good to see him and some of those other freshmen continue to grow each and every week,” QB Kellen Mond said after the game on 247Sports.com by Jeff Tarpley.
Luckily for CFF managers, Spiller is coming of age just in time for the playoffs. In the last three weeks, he has garnered 58 carries for 385 yards and five touchdowns. For the season, Spiller has 667 yards rushing, eight touchdowns and 19 receptions. After a bye week, the schedule is not easy to close out the season for Texas A&M, but Spiller can be a solid flex option down the stretch. — John

Running backs are always in demand on the waiver wire. Identify the most interesting ball carrier to acquire this week.
- George Holani, Boise State: 23%
- Isaiah Spiller, Texas A&M: 44%
- Mulbah Car, Houston: 18%
- Wesley Kennedy III, Georgia Southern: 15%
John’s Vote: Wesley Kennedy, III
“George Holani should beast going forward.” @MacDaddy178
“Houston has said that Mulbah Car will redshirt now that he has played four games to potentially return with King/Corbin. etc…” @FBSFantasyFoot
“I have some write-ins as Florida Lamical Perine and Georgia State Tra Barnett are still available in over half of leagues on Fantrax.” @NickGrays44
“Most intrigued by Wesley Kennedy III. He was sidelined early in the year but has been explosive since returning. Georgia Southern is a different team with him now available.” @CFBWinningEdge
Wide Receivers
Randal Grimes, UNLV
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 7%
UNLV’s offense hasn’t been much for passing the ball over the past several seasons, but injuries to Armani Rogers and Max Gilliam paved the way for Kenyon Oblad to claim the starting job for himself. Oblad has given new life to the Rebels this season, and he loves throwing the ball to USC-transfer Randal Grimes.
Grimes has averaged 20 points per game over the previous four weeks with a touchdown reception in each of those matchups. Even with Oblad throwing three interceptions against San Diego State, Grimes was still able to catch seven passes for over 100 yards. The Rebels have a great slate to finish off the season with Hawaii, San Jose State, and Nevada on the docket. — Justin
Rashee Rice, SMU
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 3%
On Saturday evening, my wife and daughters watched the Flintstones downstairs while I enjoyed every second of the Memphis-SMU shootout in bed. It was a stupendous shootout between two terrific offenses.
One of my goals in the game was to identify the next man up to replace the injured Reggie Roberson, Jr. Well, I got the answer loud and clear. Freshman Rashee Rice played like an upperclassman in the Mustangs’ biggest game in years. He snatched seven passes for 122 yards, averaging 17.4 yards per catch.
“If Reggie is out an extended time then Rashee will pick up the slack and that’s just what happens on football teams. That’s what you have to do. You get guys banged up, especially this time of year and the next man up. Rashee has done that. He made some big catches in that Tulsa game, converted some big third downs and fourth down,” Coach Sonny Dykes explained in an interview before the Memphis game on 247sports.com by Billy Embody.
Dykes has the Mustangs in an upward trajectory after utilizing the transfer portal and signing key high school recruits. Rice, 6-foot-1 and 189 pounds, was rated as a 3-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals. He received offers from Washington State, Houston, Texas Tech and Nebraska before deciding to attend SMU. Rice is worth stashing on rosters down the stretch if Roberson, Jr. misses any additional time. — John
C.J. Johnson, ECU
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 3%
Holton Ahlers may leave college fantasy football history as Mr. November if he continues to only perform around playoff time. For most of the offseason, we were all wondering who the next great ECU wide receiver will be and finally, we know that it is C.J. Johnson, who has firmly cemented himself into that role.
Johnson has caught five or more passes in every game since October 3 and caught a whopping 12 passes this past weekend against a solid Cincinnati defensive unit with 283 yards and amazingly only one touchdown. Johnson is a great option regardless of Ahlers’ inconsistent play and is an easy start in the next four weeks against SMU, UConn, and Tulsa. — Justin
TE JaCorey Sullivan, Central Michigan
Fantrax Ownership Percentage: 2%
Jim McIlwain was an intriguing hire for me at the beginning of the season and has only done great things for the once prominent Chippewas in year one despite playing multiple quarterbacks. While Kalil Pimpleton has played phenomenally for most of the season, JaCorey Sullivan came on about three weeks ago and hasn’t gone under five receptions and 80 yards since.
Sullivan has made a great asset to Quinten Dormady over the last three weeks and will continue to do so against Ball State and Toledo. Unfortunately, he has two bye weeks in the final four weeks of the season. — Justin
