Fantasy EPL Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI
For this article, we use the ownership statistics from Fantrax. Our only rule is that each player we highlight is required to have ownership of 60% or below at the time of writing. Therefore there’s a good chance these players will be free agents in your Fantrax Draft League!
GK: Sam Johnstone
Team: West Bromwich Albion
Opponent: Brighon & Hove Albion (Away)
Ownership: 21%
Points Last Gameweek: 17.5
Prospects: I backed Sam Johnstone last week, and he duly gained a huge score of 17.5 points! “If Johnstone can maintain the number of saves he’s making per game, and reduce the number of goals being shipped, he has the potential to turn into a solid goalkeeper option!“. The West Brom shot-stopper made four saves in Gameweek 5, and did indeed reduce the number of goals he was conceding, as the Baggies recorded their first clean sheet of the season.
Along with Darlow and Martinez, Johnstone looks to be one of the best goalkeepers to own in Fantrax right now. These guys make lots of saves, and will hopefully concede only a small number of goals! West Brom face Brighton away this weekend, and Johnstone was an easy choice for my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI.
DEF: Wesley Fofana
Team: Leicester City
Opponent: Arsenal (Away)
Ownership: 27%
Points Last Gameweek: 11.75
Prospects: Wesley Fofana came into the Leicester side for Gameweek 5, and performed extremely well. With Soyuncu out injured until next year, the young Frenchman will have a great opportunity to establish himself in the side alongside Evans. Fofana gained an impressive 11.75 points during the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, which included 9 clearances, 7 aerials, 3 interceptions, and 2 tackles! These are very encouraging statistics, and I would highly recommend signing Fofana while you still have a chance.
Bravo to any Fantrax managers out there who took a punt on Fofana ahead of the Villa game. My Community League opponent @eddybr1991 did exactly that! The Foxes face a trip to Arsenal this weekend, but I would still recommend signing Fofana. His ownership will surely rise above 60% soon, so I’ll happily include him in my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI while I can.
DEF: Matt Targett
Team: Aston Villa
Opponent: Leeds United (Home)
Ownership: 27%
Points Last Gameweek: 15
Prospects: This is your last chance to get on board the Aston Villa defense!! With the ownership of Mings (86%), Cash (68%) and Konsa (66%) soaring, Matt Targett is the final Villa defender who is likely to be a free agent in Fantrax leagues. The reason his ownership is so low? Well, up until the victory over Leicester, the English left-back had actually been scoring pretty poorly. Opposite full-back Cash has nearly double the number of points that Targett has so far! But the Aston Villa defense is looking almighty solid this season, so I would recommend signing Targett if you can. Hopefully he can maintain the level of statistics displayed during Gameweek 5!
DEF: Adam Webster
Team: Brighton & Hove Albion
Opponent: West Bromwich Albion (Home)
Ownership: 13%
Points Last Gameweek: 6
Prospects: Adam Webster hasn’t had the best start to the season Fantrax-wise, but I’m backing him to perform well this weekend as Brighton host West Brom. The Seagulls will be missing inspirational defender and captain Dunk, but I’m still trusting Webster perform well in his absence. Opponents West Brom have failed to score in three of their five games so far, as they lack cutting edge in the final third. Matheus Pereira is obviously very talented, but right now they are struggling to find the back of the net.
I would recommend taking advantage of that and bring in a very low ownership player in Webster. The former Bristol City defender performed really well at times last season and has the potential to turn into a solid DEF3. I’m happy to include him in my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI.
DEF: Patrick Van Aanholt
Team: Crystal Palace
Opponent: Fulham (Away)
Ownership: 45%
Points Last Gameweek: N/A
Prospects: I did have Gary Cahill here, but he’s now been ruled out, so I’m taking a punt on his defensive colleague Patrick Van Aanholt. The Dutch left-back returned to the squad in Gameweek 5, and I’m backing him to earn a start this weekend. Youngster Mitchell has performed well in his absence, but Van Aanholt is the more established player and should now take his place back in the side. One to take a look at if you’re struggling in defense, and for me, he’s a great addition to my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI.
MID: Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Team: Fulham
Opponent: Crystal Palace (Home)
Ownership: 45%
Points Last Gameweek: 8.5
Prospects: Ruben Loftus-Cheek finally got his loan move away from Chelsea on Transfer Deadline Day, as he joined fellow London outfit Fulham for the season. The English midfielder went straight into the starting eleven for the Gameweek 5 match against Sheffield United, and he scored a very respectable 8.5 points during his 81-minute appearance. This is exactly what I expected from Loftus-Cheek – he’s a really solid scoring player when given the chance. If you still have a chance to sign him, you need to do that!
Loftus-Cheek was ranked in 94th overall in the October Edition of our Top 200 ROS Player Rankings, although I personally ranked the Fulham man in 72nd overall. I’m a big fan of this chap; if he can remain fit for the whole season then he has the potential to be a Top 50 player. Fulham faces Crystal Palace this weekend, and Loftus-Cheek is one of the elite players featured in my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI!
MID: Leander Dendoncker
Team: Wolves
Opponent: Newcastle United (Home)
Ownership: 32%
Points Last Gameweek: 12
Prospects: Leander Dendoncker is not a player I thought I would be featuring in my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI. But his stats speak for themselves. The Belgian midfielder has started three games for Wolves so far and gained scores of 9, 18.5, and 12. Dendoncker has only gained one attacking return during these three games, and Wolves have won all of these games. They lost the two where Dendoncker didn’t start!
With the inconsistent form of both Neves and Moutinho, I expect the former Anderlecht man to remain in the side. This weekend Wolves faces Newcastle at home, and Dendoncker is certainly worth adding to your Fantrax roster. He’s filling out his stats sheet pretty well, with five key passes during the last two games a particular highlight. The Belgian also managed 10 aerial wins in Gameweek 5!
MID: Jeffrey Schlupp
Team: Crystal Palace
Opponent: Fulham (Away)
Ownership: 22%
Points Last Gameweek: 9.5
Prospects: I picked up Jeffrey Schlupp in the Community League when the Crystal Palace lineup was announced for the Gameweek 5 clash with Brighton. The Ghanaian midfielder was reinstated to the starting eleven at the expense of summer signing Eze. But that wasn’t actually that surprising considering Schlupp started the first two games of the season and Palace won them both. He then missed out on the next two games because of injury, and the Eagles lost both games. Schlupp went straight back into the side, and gained a solid 9.5 points without attacking returns.
I expect Schlupp to keep his place in the side for now, and the game against Fulham this weekend offers plenty of points potential. The Crystal Palace man is a really strong low ownership option for my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI.
MID: Johann Gudmundsson
Team: Burnley
Opponent: Tottenham (Home)
Ownership: 19%
Points Last Gameweek: 8
Prospects: One of the classic Fantrax favorites. Johann Gudmundsson is a terrific asset in this scoring system on his day, and was one of the best ‘hidden gem’ players in the entire game a few seasons back. But the Burnley midfielder is forever struggling with injuries. Gudmundsson can’t catch a break from the injuries! The Icelandic international was even doubtful for Gameweek 5, but he managed to make the starting lineup against West Brom, and returned a really solid 8 points from 69 minutes of action. Gudmundsson is a good addition to any Fantrax squad, but unfortunately you can’t rely on him for consistent points!
FWD: Ademola Lookman
Team: Fulham
Opponent: Crystal Palace (Home)
Ownership: 44%
Points Last Gameweek: 23.5
Prospects: I backed Ademola Lookman last week, and I can pretty much copy and paste what I said then after a stunning 23.5 point haul for the new Fulham forward:
“Fulham are a very unpredictable side and are likely to be relegated, but Lookman is a rapid winger who looks like he could flourish in the sophisticated Fantrax Scoring System. In my article last week I recommended picking him up… if you still can then be sure to go and do that! Lookman is a great addition to my Gameweek 5 Sleepers XI as the Cottagers face a trip to Sheffield United.”
This weekend Fulham face Crystal Palace, and Lookman is a great addition to my Gameweek 6 Sleepers XI. Sign him up if you can. Or trade him in for the likes of Maupay, Wood, Cavani or Pepe.
FWD: Michy Batshuayi
Team: Crystal Palace
Opponent: Fulham (Away)
Ownership: 26%
Points Last Gameweek: 5.5
Prospects: Michy Batshuayi gained his first start of the season last week, and provided an assist to kick start his season. Disappointingly the Belgian forward only gained 5.5 points in total, but I would expect his numbers to increase as he’s given more minutes. With Ayew testing positive for COVID-19, it looks as though Batshuayi will start again this weekend and has a chance to establish himself due to the untimely absence of his fellow forward. Crystal Palace face Fulham this weekend!
Batshuayi was ranked 117th overall in the October Edition of our ROS Player Rankings, although I personally ranked him slightly higher with a placing of 100th overall.
