Week 4 Fantasy Football FAAB Guide
$1,000 is a common budget size for season-long leagues and that is the template for my FAAB bid percentages. The 2021 Fantasy Football Week 3 FAAB Guide attempts to cover all styles of fantasy scoring, but usually, I write this article from a redraft and PPR point of view. All roster percentages for this week come from Fantrax and Yahoo fantasy football leagues.

Reference Points
- If you’re looking to replace Ben Roethlisberger (you poor sap) there are plenty of options at the ready. I continue to ride for Bridgewater and Darnold. Both lead 3-0 teams and have quality players to assist in playmaking. Darnold lost Christian McCaffrey to a bogus hammy and Teddy Two Gloves can’t throw to K.J. Hamler anymore after he tore his ACL. I’d rather play both of these QBs over Winston, Burrow, Garoppolo or Tannehill.
- Justin Fields is much better than the stinky garbage chute of a game the Bears played on Sunday in Cleveland. In 14-team or deeper leagues go scoop him up.
- I put Trey Lance on here because I felt I had to, but I have little confidence he will take the job away from Jimmy G. on a full-time basis.
- Jacoby Brissett threw the ball 49 times in Vegas resulting in only 215 passing yards. He did have 49 yards rushing with a TD. His rushing ability provides a decent floor while subbing for Tua.

Reference Points
- Chuba Hubbard is going to be the apple of many eyes in fantasy this week. However, Royce Freeman is just as viable and probably cheaper. Chuba ran for 52 yards on 11 carries in emergency relief of the best player in fantasy football. He tore it up at Oklahoma State in 2019 running for 2094 yards and 21 TDs. You may also remember him for standing up to his coach. I love Chuba!
- Shout-out to my main man Chris Robin! He came on the Fantasy Football POV last week and told us that Peyton Barber was a sneaky DFS value in Week 3. I witnessed Barber rip off several tough, max-effort runs against Miami. He looks the part, but it’s not worth a big bid because Josh Jacobs will return soon enough.
- Zack Moss is playing better than Devin Singletary. He has caught all 5 targets too. The momentum feels like it’s in favor of Moss. Go grab him now before he gets even more pricey.
- James White will be out indefinitely with a hip issue. Brandon Bolden stands to take over White’s role. I have no interest in this role, but for PPR purposes you might. Keep your bid light.

Reference Points
- Emmanuel Sanders was not a sleeper to me in Week 3. He’s been a productive WR for many moons. He will cost you after 2 TD hauls against Washington. I’d rather have Tim Patrick. With K.J. Hamler done for the year, Patrick is absolutely the #1 WR for Denver until Jerry Jeudy returns. He should be rostered everywhere.
- Josh Gordon is an inspiration to millions of people dealing with Substance Use Disorder. I am in recovery myself from opioids so I root passionately for him. All bias aside, the KC offense is so damn electric that he’s worth 4% of your overall budget. Andy Reid’s son Garrett died from an overdose in 2012. He also resurrected Mike Vick. This is the PERFECT place for Gordon.
- Kendrick Bourne had a sweet TD grab in the loss against the Saints. Mac Jones had little to do with the TD. Bourne is third in the WR pecking order and that doesn’t include TEs. No thanks.
- The Giants suddenly have multiple WRs down with hamstring injuries. Hammy issues and being a WR do not mix. Kadarius Toney has an opening. Monitor Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard during the week. I do not expect them to play this weekend in New Orleans, but then again, we all thought Marquise Brown would sit in Week 2 against KC and he flourished.
- According to Silver Linings Playbook, DeSean Jackson is the man. He scored a record-tying ninth reception of 75 yards or more for his career. This is the quintessential all-or-nothing player.
- There are so many useful wideouts available right now that you might be better off making lower bids for guys like Hunter Renfrow, Anthony Miller, or Cedrick Wilson rather than bidding big on the top producers from Week 3. A.J. Green is healthy and Kyler Murray appears to be relying on his veteran hands. He was in for 79% of the snaps Sunday outpacing Christian Kirk and Rondale Moore by a wide margin.

Reference Points
- Pat Freiermuth is an absolute stud of a tight end. He has been targeted more each week this year and Eric Ebron is barely ahead of him in snaps, 98 to 92. I know Big Ben is dead inside, but Freiermuth will be the beneficiary of Ben’s dinks and dunks going forward. If you need a TE after being let down by Jonnu Smith or Kyle Pitts make a move now to secure his services.
- Dalton Schultz had a fun Monday night at Jerry’s globodome with 6 catches for 80 yards and 2 TDs. Blake Jarwin has 9 targets to Schultz’s 15. He seems to be the favored option for a high-powered offensive threat that will score a lot of points this year. I would not assume this was a one-off fluke. Having a possible MVP candidate as his QB cannot hurt his chances.
- Evan Engram is healthy again. Danny Dimes targeted him 6 times (hey that rhymes!). With the WR position a mess, Engram has a chance to gobble up targets in Week 4. Definitely bid on him.
- Ty Conklin broke out big time in Week 3 with 7 grabs for 70 yards plus a TD. Kirk Cousins is thriving and this might be the best fantasy offense in the NFL. Chris Herndon is yesterday’s news.
The Leftovers
- Week 3 still leaves us with several questions. Who is the man in the 49ers backfield? Is Big Ben done (yes)? Can Tampa Bay establish the running game? Is Cooper Kupp actually better than DeAndre Hopkins? The mysteries of this season will continue to baffle us. All you can do is trust in your process while sampling the advice of others like me.
- These players are all fringe producers who are worth mentioning but are not worth going into detail about. Josh Reynolds continues to confuse us, J.J. Taylor could replace James White in New England, Mohamed Sanu is gaining more trust in San Francisco, Jeremy McNichols is an injury away from massive value and I still believe Jake Funk will be a thing at some point.
