Attacking the Green!: 2026 Wyndham Championship Stats Breakdown and Best Bets

Welcome back, golf fans. This week marks the final chance for players to earn their way into the FedEx Cup Playoffs as the PGA Tour heads to Sedgefield Country Club for the 2026 Wyndham Championship. The cutline we will be concentrating on will be the top 70 who will make the playoffs and head to the FedEx St. Jude Championship next week.

In this article, we will look at the course, the stats and trends that matter, and the top players on the betcard this week.

The Course: Sedgefield Country Club

Sedgefield CC is a Donald Ross design which can be categorized as a positional course. It is a Par 70 listed at 7,131 yards on this year’s scorecard with four par 3s, 12 par 4s, and two par 5s. The par 3s are a mix of two in the 175-yard range and two over 220-yard range. The par 4s are very concentrated to the mid-range, with eight of the 12 coming in the 400-450 yard range. Even the par 5s lack length at 529 and 545 yards. Despite the need for accuracy both off the tee and on approach, the winning score has still hit -20 or better in three of the last four and eight of the last 10 years.

When it comes to the stats profile I am looking for this week, it starts off the tee. As a positional course, driving accuracy is near the top, as the penalty for missing the fairway is damaging. After that, with eight of the par 4s in the 400-450 yard range, I will look at Strokes Gained: Approach and, more specifically, the mid-iron proximity ranges. Right up there with both of these stats and possibly even the most important will be putting on these difficult Donald Ross Bermuda greens.

Stats & Trends That Matter: Finding the 2026 Wyndham Championship Top Bets

Ben Griffin (+2700 Outright / +500 Top 5)

Similar thought this week at the top, as I do like Cameron Young, who has back-to-back top 10s, but I am not willing to pay the single-digit price. Instead, I will turn to Ben Griffin who, despite top form, checks a lot of boxes this week. It starts with the course history, as he has finished 11th or better in three of his four trips to Sedgefield CC. Putting is weighted quite high on my list this week, and Griffin fits that mold as he ranks 14th in this field in SG: Putting overall on the season and is also 4th in SG: Putting on Bermuda greens over the last 50 rounds.

Hideki Matsuyama (+3200 Outright / +580 Top 5 / +290 Top 10)

We ladder bet Hideki at the Rocket Classic, and while he missed out on the outright win, he got us there easily in the secondary market. I will chase the hot form that includes back-to-back Top 5s and four straight top 15 finishes on the back of some excellent tee-to-green play. While he is only average when it comes to Bermuda putting, he has been excellent on Donald Ross courses, ranking 23rd in my model this week. Again, my favorite bets are in the secondary market but will also be on the outright should he break through with another win.

Davis Thompson (+6200 Outright / +1000 Top 5 / +470 Top 10 / +215 To 20)

Going down the board a little more, I was close on adding Meissner or Thompson to the card and eventually sided with the latter. Meissner does have the edge in terms of putting, but it’s Thompson who is the much better ball striker (Top 10 in this field) and is coming in off back-to-back top 10 finishes at the Rocket Classic and 3M Open. Much like Matsuyama, he can be up and down with the putter but has been lights out on Donald Ross courses as he is #3 in that section of the model. Thompson sits at #81 in the FedEx Cup rank and will be motivated to get a top finish and crack the top 70. I am on board with a ladder bet with most of my exposure coming in the secondary market.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout (+240 Top 20)

My card usually ends up with three to four Top 20 bets and one of them this week will be Bezuidenhout. He ranks 18th in my form model this week after making seven straight cuts, including finishing 21st or better in three of his last five events. That form has been led by some excellent iron play (14th in SG: App) and a trending putter (24th in SG: P). He is also 13th in my Bermuda putting model.
