During the offseason, a consensus formed around the top three College Fantasy Football quarterbacks in drafts: Cade Klubnik, Arch Manning, and LaNorris Sellers. Woefully, all three have misfired to open the season.
Klubnik has produced over 20 Fantasy Points (FPs) once and is currently CFF QB78. Getting booed by the home crowd on Saturday, Manning is barely a starter in 2-QB leagues, ranking as CFF QB27. Sellers has played so poorly that he ranks outside the Top 200 CFF QBs with only 39 FPs in three games and left the field against Vanderbilt with a concussion. The top 10-ranked preseason quarterbacks, Avery Johnson and Garrett Nussmeier, have also disappointed CFF diehards after three weeks.
I did not avoid the early QB pitfalls and have been on the losing end of fantasy matchups more often than I would like to admit. Luckily, the quarterback position is deep, and plenty of options remain available. DynastyMattyIce and VolumePigs join me in examining the CFF free agent player pool after three weeks… Enjoy, my fellow CFF diehards.
There’s no such thing as too much football! 2025 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!
CFF Week 3 Waiver Wire Gemstones
Quarterbacks
Joey Aguilar, Tennessee (Laub)
Fantrax Ownership: 33%
Total Fantasy Points: 98.8
FPPG: 32.9
PFF Grade: 82.9
Sometimes decisions have an extraordinary way of working out in life. In the spring, former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava sought more NIL money from the program and decided to leave the school, signing with UCLA. Joey Aguilar, formerly at Appalachian State, signed with the Bruins after the 2024 campaign, but coach DeShaun Foster wanted Iamaleava behind center. Once again, Aguilar entered the portal, and this time, he landed in Tennessee.
Despite a tough loss to Georgia last week, the Volunteers’ coaching staff and faithful fans could not be happier. Against the Bulldogs, Aguilar scored a season-best 44 FPs, passing for 371 yards and four touchdowns while adding a score on the ground. For the season, he has thrown for 906 yards and posted a 9:2 TD:INT Ratio. He is CFF QB12 after three weeks and clearly should no longer remain on the waiver wire. Ironically, for the Bruins, the team is 0-3 and has just fired Foster, while the Volunteers are 2-1 with the sixth-ranked offense in the nation, led by Aguilar, which is churning out 568 yards per game and 52.7 points per game.
Notebook: “The main goal is this team, and not just me. I know it’s a great story and stuff like that, but my main focus is to do my job and help my team win games,” Aguilar commented after the loss to Georgia (utsports.com).
Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, California (VolumePigs)
Fantrax Ownership: 24%
Total Fantasy Points: 75.1
FPPG: 25.0
PFF Grade: 87.0
In the past, I’ve said that Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele will be one of, if not the highest-paid players in College Football next year, and likely playing at one of the blue blood programs. The young man looks like the second coming of Patty Mahomes just in terms of his build and throwing mechanics. He’s probably not going to turn out to be as good, but he looks very similar on the field.
What’s more, JKS scored over 20 points in two of his first three outings, and the one time he didn’t, it was versus an overmatched FCS opponent where Cal controlled the game on the ground. He’s also scored once on the ground so far and finished another game with 30 rushing yards, demonstrating a modest ability to provide some value with his legs. But the headliner here is arm talent, and with the ACC play on deck after Cal’s final out-of-conference game against San Diego State, there should be plenty of shootouts on tap.
Oski liked that one 😎

Trinidad Chambliss, Mississippi (Laub)
Fantrax Ownership: 1%
Total Fantasy Points: 48.8
FPPG: n/a
PFF Grade: 83.8
I was so excited to watch the Arkansas-Mississippi game to conclude my CFF Saturday. Earlier in the day, I read that Austin Simmons would not start and Trinidad Chambliss would instead. I did some quick research and wanted to get a look at the Rebels’ backup signal caller…needless to say, he exceeded all expectations and lived up to his billing in the game.
A senior, Chambliss arrived on the Ole Miss campus after playing for three years at Ferris State, a Division II program. As a member of the Bulldogs last year, he passed for over 3,200 yards and 26 touchdowns and sprinted for over 1,000 yards and 25 scores. He led Ferris State to a third national title and finished third in the Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II Player of the Year award) voting. In the first two games this season, Chambliss saw a little action for the Rebels.
On Saturday, the 6-0 and 200-pound playmaker remained poised and displayed leadership skills while making numerous big plays to lead Mississippi to a 41-35 victory. He threw for 353 yards and scampered for 62 with three total touchdowns, producing 38.3 FPs. Of course, CFF coaches with Simmons must prioritize Chambliss on the waiver wire: He is far too valuable as a backup if Simmons misses any more contests.
Notebook: “Trinidad’s day didn’t surprise me. I think he has the ‘it.’ That’s why we brought him here. We saw it in his game tape. We saw it in his scrimmages. Even as he was learning the offense and didn’t know everything, he found a way to have some magic about him,” coach Lane Kiffin stated after the victory over Arkansas (hattiesburgamerican.com).
Ta’Quan Roberson, Buffalo (DynastyMattyIce)
Fantrax Ownership: 3%
Total Fantasy Points: 80.1
FPPG: 26.7`
PFF Grade: 66.7
Nobody’s really tuning into Buffalo games on Saturdays, which is exactly why Ta’Quan Robertson is sitting on the waiver wire in almost every league. He just went over 30 FPs for a second week in a row. Looking at the schedule, it doesn’t get much easier than what he’s facing the rest of the way in the MAC. The Bulls’ signal caller is not a household name but he’s a true dual-threat QB who can score consistent points week to week. His skill set is above the talent level in the MAC, and it would be a strategic claim to capitalize on his potential before he’s picked up later in the season.

Running Backs
Tye Edwards, West Virginia (DynastyMattyIce)
Fantrax Ownership: 2%
Total Fantasy Points: 32.1
FPPG: 10.7
PFF Grade: 74.5
With Jaheim White out for the season due to a knee injury, I was wondering who’d step up, and man, Edwards answered the call in their win over Pittsburgh, exploding for 25 carries, 141 yards, and three scores. That kind of workload in Rich Rodriguez’s run-heavy offense shows he’s ready to take over the backfield. Even with West Virginia’s schedule getting tougher, Edwards’s 20-plus carries against the Panthers prove he can handle a lead role. He has legit CFF RB1 potential if he keeps getting this volume, and he will be a popular waiver wire addition this week.
Tory Blaylock, Oklahoma (Laub)
Fantrax Ownership: 11%
Total Fantasy Points: 40
FPPG: 13.3
PFF Grade: 80.0
When researching for DFS selections, freshman running backs Kevin Riley (Alabama) and Tory Blaylock both appealed to me in lineups. In full disclosure, I selected Riley in two of three lineups and Blaylock in the third. The team with the Sooners’ ball carrier cashed and the ones with Riley did not…Ugh!
Against Temple, Blaylock dashed for 100 yards and two scores on only 14 carries. In the first three games on campus, he has averaged 5.4 ypc. on 31 totes and crossed the finish line three times. He has also logged three catches for 22 yards.
Analyzing advanced stats, Blaylock has been incredibly productive on only 42 snaps. Well over half of his yards have been manufactured after contact, averaging 3.23 yards after contact per attempt, according to PFF. At 5-11 and 203 pounds, the freshman packs a punch and excels after the hit. The coaching staff is slowly ramping up his usage and opportunities. CFF diehards should see a continued uptick in backfield opportunity shares for the former four-star recruit as the season advances.
Notebook: “Tory is just a tough guy. Not 100 percent healthy and he loves to compete. We’ve been bragging (about) him since way back in the spring. He led in the spring with the most explosive plays. He runs through trash. He’s got great speed. He’s got an edge. He’s got really good patience and pace as a running back. Runs well behind his pads and runs through a lot of arm tackles,” coach Brent Venables uttered after the victory over Temple (si.com).

In case you’re not subscribed to the VolumePigs newsletter, I featured Qua Ashley last week as one whom I’ve been tracking early in the season that could pop once easier games came along. Well, that happened against New Hampshire on Saturday as he ran in two scores and caught another. After getting obliterated by Auburn’s physicality the week prior, he proved to still be the workhorse for Ball State. With the MAC slate up next, I’m not expecting 38-point outputs, but there should be nice production that can net 10-20 FPs on a regular basis.

Chris Brazzell, Tennessee (VolumePigs)

Fantasy Points: 86.4
FPPG: 28.8
PFF Grade: 82.2
Another player featured in the VolumePigs newsletter last week, Chris Brazzell had his own Jalin Hyatt versus Alabama moment (2022), catching several long touchdowns against Georgia. It didn’t prove enough to overcome the Dawgs, but he did enough to prove to CFF diehards that he’s a worthy option off the wire. Unfortunately, unlike last week, readers are now going to be competing with a lot of competitors for Brazzell’s services. I like him in this offense now that they have a QB who can hit deep passes again.
Notebook: “I thought Chris [Brazzell II] had a great ball game. Wide receivers in general played really hard and made plays. We protected well throughout a majority of the football game. There were a lot of really good things. We just needed a little bit more (for the victory),” coach Josh Heupel disclosed after Brazzell’s three-touchdown performance (utsports.com).

McMillian has quickly emerged as Ta’Quan Robertson’s go-to target, leading the team in looks in two of three games. His target share climbs each week, showing that Robertson trusts him in key spots. The connection makes McMillian more than just a waiver flier—he’s a wideout with a growing role in an offense that needs his production. Pairing him with Robertson is a cheap QB-WR stack that I really like moving forward. With Buffalo’s schedule softening in the MAC, there’s plenty of room for both to keep producing. It’s the kind of low-cost, high-upside play that can provide a real edge.
Omar Cooper, Jr., Indiana (Laub)
Fantrax Ownership: 10%
Targets: 15
Fantasy Points: 80.4
FPPG: 26.8
PFF Grade: 86.8
Over 37 years of playing fantasy sports, I have seen many unknown players produce huge outings. Afterwards, CFF diehards must assess if it is a one-week wonder or a breakout performance. The answer to the query has varied. Nevertheless, I prefer to jump on the player immediately and will pivot shortly if he does not continue to produce fantasy points.
I am a believer in Coach Curt Cignetti’s offensive scheme for CFF production, and Omar Cooper stood out on the stat sheet against Indiana State (FCS program). He earned 10 targets—catching all—for 207 yards and four scores. He racked up 54.7 FPs and now leads the Hoosiers in nearly every receiving category with 13 catches for 299 yards, averaging 23 ypc., and four touchdowns. The week before against Kennesaw State, he scored on a 75-yard run, which tied for the longest touchdown run in school history.
Last year, Cooper averaged 21.2 ypc on 28 receptions for 594 yards and seven touchdowns. At 6-0 and 204 pounds, the redshirt junior was a four-star recruit by Rivals in high school and ranked as the No. 22 receiver in the nation. Some players need time to develop and master the nuances of the game, and Cooper appears to be blossoming in Cignetti’s offense. I trust that Saturday’s outing foreshadows future fantasy success for the Hoosiers’ receiver.
Notebook: “You look at Omar’s production, that’s a pretty good day’s work. They had a hard time with him. We got him the ball in open space and he took advantage,” coach Cignetti voiced (iuhoosiers.com).
Kyre Duplessis, Delaware (DynastyMattyIce)

PFF Grade: 81.9
Kyre Duplessis is exactly the kind of under-the-radar player I love targeting on the waiver wire. Like McMillian, what’s exciting about Kyre Duplessis is his target volume. Targets are my key to finding guys who have high floors for fantasy. He garnered 11 targets versus UConn, and in the first two games, he earned 15. The opportunities are clearly there for Duplessis to keep producing. Plus, Delaware’s schedule looks pretty friendly down the stretch. He has a great shot to keep seeing the ball. The Blue Hens’ playmaker is a legit Flex option or even a CFF WR2 some weeks with the volume.
