As we approach my Week 9 RB rankings, the playoff push is as crucial as it gets. Playoffs begin around Week 14, so that means you only have five games left to make it into the playoffs. Week 9 also brings a rough schedule of byes. Saquon Barkley, Breece Hall, Quinshon Judkins, and the injured Bucky Irving are all out this week. Also, rookie sensation Cam Skattebo is out for the season with a dislocated ankle.
So, if you are hanging around seventh place, now is the time to make that playoff push. And I am here to help.

Running Back Notes
- Let’s start with Kimani Vidal as my RB12 going against the Tennessee Titans. Vidal has proven he can be an RB2 start each week while Omarion Hampton is out. Vidal got all the work last week, totaling 117 rushing yards on 23 carries and one touchdown. The Chargers also have a terrific matchup against the Titans, who are giving up the second-most fantasy points per game to RBs. Vidal is an easy start this week and should be kept on after Hampton returns.
- Next, I have Rico Dowdle as my RB19 this week against the Packers. It looks like Dowdle is slowly winning the starting RB job in Carolina and should see an increase in carries this week. However, Dowdle is not quite an RB2 start for me this week. I would lean toward a flex start as the Packers are tough against the run. They are the third toughest team against the run this year, only giving up 13.9 fantasy points per game. Also, Dowdle is not winning the redzone carries against Chuba Hubbard. Since coming back in Week 7, Hubbard leads in redzone carries 4-2 and also has the lone touchdown.
- Lastly, I have RJ Harvey as my RB32 going against Houston. Harvey is the definition of boom or bust. He has only scored in the double digits twice this year. I know it might be tempting to start him this week, but he still only had seven carries compared to J.K. Dobbins’ 15. Dobbins also had 111 rushing yards compared to Harvey’s 46. And 40 of those yards were from a breakaway rushing touchdown. All signs point to starting him, but this is Dobbins’ backfield, and I didn’t see enough to start Harvey over players like Isiah Pacheco, Zonovan Knight and Zach Charbonnet.
