We have our 2026 fantasy football tight end rankings. In isolation, that’s perfect. However, we don’t work in isolation. There are also running backs and wide receivers to draft, along with a quarterback, so it’s not as easy as just going down a rankings sheet. How should we determine which tight end to draft, and when to do it? That’s where tiers come in, so let’s take a look at our 2026 tight end positional tiers.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune next season.
Tight End Tiers for 2026 Fantasy Football
Tier One
- Trey McBride
- Brock Bowers
This one is easy. Take your pick on which explosive tight end you like more. Both will be the centerpiece of their offense, and neither is used as a traditional tight end. The issue, though, is that if you want either, it’s going to cost you a second-round pick. If they fall to you, or are your highest-ranked player, that’s great. If not, I don’t recommend reaching, as it could derail the rest of your roster construction.
Tier Two
- Colston Loveland
- Tyler Warren
Both Loveland and Warren had impressive rookie years, and both showed the potential to offer a lot more. The problem with that, especially with Loveland, is that you’re already paying for it. Yes, Loveland did go nuts towards the end of the regular season, and really in the postseason, but now we have to draft him in the late third or early fourth round. If you go through Loveland’s metrics, they are mostly in the upper percentiles for the position, but he finished with 58 catches for 713 yards and six touchdowns. I need to see a little more consistency before pulling the trigger at this price.
Before dealing with injury problems, his own and Daniel Jones’, Warren was the better of the rookie tight ends for a lot of the season. He still played in all 17 games, and it was impressive catching 76 of 112 targets for 817 yards and four touchdowns. But I want more touchdowns. The roughly 15-pick discount on Warren compared to Loveland is nice, but I want a 8-10 touchdown guarantee from Warren at this price. Unfortunately, I don’t know that I’m getting it.
Tier Three
- Harold Fannin
- Sam LaPorta
- Tucker Kraft
- Kyle Pitts
Yes, the tight ends above are all better, but this tier shouldn’t get shortchanged. If I can make it work from a roster construction standpoint, this is where I want to be. We have youth, talent, and upside aplenty among these four tight ends. Perhaps more alluring is that by the time we get to this point in the draft, your starting running backs, wide receivers, and potentially flex options should all be filled.
Tier Four
- Jake Ferguson
- George Kittle
- Orande Gadsden
- Isaiah Likely
- Dallas Goedert
- Juwan Johnson
- Travis Kelce
This tier offers a little something for everyone here. Not every fantasy football manager will like each of these players, and that’s perfectly fine. In fact, it creates opportunity. At this point, we’ve listed 15 tight ends, and everyone should have their starter in 10- and 12-team leagues. Please don’t talk to me about drafting a backup here, as that’s just poor roster construction. You are eliminating upside grabs at wide receiver and running back and forcing yourself into the wrong start/sit decision each week. Having one or two targets out of this group is perfect, but don’t get too attached either.
Tier Five
- Brenton Strange
- Dalton Kincaid
- Mark Andrews
- Chig Okonkwo
- Hunter Henry
- TJ Hockenson
If you feel the need to draft a backup, do it here. But do we really need to let Henry or Hockenson sit on your bench most weeks? This is why I generally only roster one tight end at the beginning of the season. Should you be in the situation where any of these tight ends are in your starting lineup, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Playing the matchup game and streaming isn’t bad either, as each of these options will be rostered for at least a good portion of the season.
Tier Six
- AJ Barner
- Mason Taylor
- Dalton Schultz
- Kenyon Sadiq
- Greg Dulcich
- Evan Engram
- Colby Parkinson
- Theo Johnson
- Cade Otton
- Terrance Ferguson
- Pat Friermuth
