Fantasy Football Week 4 DST Streamers

Talk about a weird week. From big upsets to blocked field goals, Week 3 had a little bit of everything. My DST streamer recommendations were not as strong as in Week 2, but there were still some solid results, including two teams in the top 10. Keep your fantasy football team in contention by streaming the best DSTs in Week 4.

Week 4 DST Streamers

Los Angeles Chargers (at New York Giants)

Fantrax Rostership: 57% (Other Platforms: 11% – 50%)

Welcome to the Jaxson Dart show. Russell Wilson probably got a raw deal in New York, but he didn’t do himself many favors, and he was always going to be a bridge QB. The first-round rookie will now get to lead this Giants offense against a stout but injured Chargers defense. LA’s defense has performed well in fantasy so far, despite starting the season with three straight divisional games. Their only truly subpar performance was in Week 1 against the Chiefs. The Giants’ offensive line is going to have a lot of work to do holding up against a Chargers’ defense with 7 sacks and 3 takeaways so far.

The Giants avoided a major injury to star WR Malik Nabers, but RB Tyrone Tracy will be sidelined for a while. Rookie Cam Skattebo will be in line for the majority of the work, and he looked good against a below-average Chiefs run defense. The Chargers are middle of the pack against the run, but they rank 3rd in EPA and 5th in DVOA against the pass. This will be a similar situation to last week against the Chiefs, where the Giants will struggle to pass. The question is whether or not Dart can defy a bad lineup and perform. I’m willing to bet against that. Stream the Chargers DST if they’re available.

Detroit Lions (vs Cleveland Browns)

Fantrax Rostership: 51% (Other Platforms: 50% – 57%)

Detroit has been on a mission to score as many points as possible after only managing 13 in Week 1. Beating the Bears 52-21 is not enough to prove a team is great, but the Lions followed that up by upsetting the Ravens in Baltimore. Detroit managed to swarm Lamar Jackson, sacking him a career-high 7 times. People may have forgotten that before getting injured last season, Aidan Hutchinson was on pace to win Defensive Player of the Year. He may have only gotten one sack yesterday, but Hutchinson also punched a ball out of Derrick Henry’s hand and kept Lamar Jackson pressured all game.

The Lions return home with plenty to look forward to. They take on a Browns team that was kept scoreless until the 4th quarter, and lost due to a bizarre series of events. Green Bay only sacked Joe Flacco twice and forced just a single turnover, but they finished with a respectable 9 fantasy points.

Flacco is a veteran who doesn’t turn the ball over or get sacked at a crazy high rate. That limits upside in fantasy football, but Cleveland doesn’t boast a strong offense. Despite the win, the Browns have scored 16, 17, and 13 points this season. Heading into Ford Field, it’s unlikely that will change much. The Lions are not an impenetrable force, but the matchup bodes well for them. They were a recommended stash last week, and I’m firing up the Lions DST in Week 3.

Los Angeles Rams (vs Indianapolis Colts)

Fantrax Rostership: 48% (Other Platforms: 27% – 33%)

Daniel Jones and the Colts are as hot as teams get. Something is off, though. I don’t want to call them frauds, but it’s hard to believe that this is sustainable. Indianapolis is 3-0 after beating up on the Dolphins and Titans, and sneaking out a 1-point win against the Broncos. Denver is a good team in their own right, but that was a home win and could have been a fluke. The biggest asset for the Colts is their offensive line. Jonathan Taylor leads the league with 338 rushing yards and averages 5.6 yards per carry. Daniel Jones has escaped each game mostly unscathed, only being sacked twice and never turning the ball over through the air. His 111.7 passer rating is 3rd in the NFL so far. What can the Rams do? They can try to penetrate that line. Los Angeles is tied for the league lead with 12 sacks. They’re generating pressure on 21.4% of opposing dropbacks, and a QB knockdown on 8.7% of pass attempts per Pro Football Reference.

LA kept the defending Super Bowl champs at bay for over an entire half. The Eagles didn’t get their second score until there were 11 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, but the floodgates opened from there. I don’t think anyone expected them to hold off Philly for that long, despite offensive struggles, anyway.

Additionally, the Rams limited Saquon Barkley to 46 yards on 18 carries. The Rams’ pass rush gives them a good floor, but this game will say a lot about both teams, especially the Colts. You could do a whole lot worse, and if this is the week the Colts implode, you may have a top DST streamer in Week 4.

Chicago Bears (at Las Vegas Raiders)

Fantrax Rostership: 17% (Other Platforms: 3% – 5%)

Geno Smith has had a full range of outcomes in just three weeks. Smith threw for 362 yards but with just 1 TD and 1 INT against the Patriots in Week 1. He followed that up with a 0 TD/3 INT performance and then a 3 TD/0 INT game just last week. Which version of Geno will we see? Probably something closer to that game against New England. The Chicago Bears’ defense is not as elite as the players would suggest, but they should perform against the worst offenses in the league.

Dak Prescott struggled in a 31-14 loss, throwing 2 INTs. CeeDee Lamb did get injured very early in that game, but the Cowboys have good skill position players in George Pickens, Jake Ferguson, and Javonte Williams. The Raiders have two big names in Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers, but their actual production has been lower than expected. With an awful offensive line to protect Geno and try to keep the pass game alive, don’t expect the Raiders to throw as well as last week. Even in that game, the Commanders scored 11 fantasy points. I have faith that the Bears DST can do just as well, if not better in Week 4.

Carolina Panthers (at New England Patriots)

Fantrax Rostership: 5% (Other Platforms: <1%)

This is scraping the bottom of the barrel, but there’s something here if you are desperate and in a deep league. The Carolina Panthers do not have a horrible defense by any means. Last week’s shutout victory was probably a fluke, but it’s encouraging. The Panthers take on a Patriots team that has paid dividends for opposing DSTs.

Drake Maye has taken 12 sacks, tied for the 2nd most in the league. While Maye has only thrown 2 interceptions this season, the team as a whole has a fumbling issue. Over 20% of team drivers result in a turnover. The team almost has as many fumbles as they have offensive TDs.

Carolina’s pass defense, led by Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, will give their pass rush plenty of time to get to Maye and maybe make enough plays to result in fantasy points. I can also see a situation where Maye gets plenty of time in the pocket and produces just well enough to make the Panthers DST irrelevant. Carolina’s pass rush is just not generating pressure to start the season, but that’s the risk you take in a 5% rostered team.
