Fantasy hockey playoffs are on the go, and for whichever managers are still fighting for the championship or for a top-3 spot, there are moves to be made that can get you to where you want to be. There are a lot of games this week, but some adds might make you choose precisely to maximize your return. Here are three of the top picks in terms of forwards that you can pick up in the majority of leagues for this week.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 24
Boone Jenner, Columbus Blue Jackets
Boone Jenner has played well since making his season debut. He has only played 16 games this season now, but his all around numbers are encouraging and well worth adding him to your teams as a stream this week. The veteran has scored a goal in four consecutive games for a total of five goals and also added an assist in that recent span for six points. One of those points has come on the power play and he is shooting a lot, doing what he can to help his team get into a playoff spot as the Columbus Blue Jackets are in the thick of the race.
What is even better about adding Jenner is that while some teams play three times or only twice from today until the end of the week, the Blue Jackets still play four times. It starts against the Nashville Predators, then the team plays the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leaf, and Ottawa Senators. Jenner will keep shooting and hitting while adding offense as he’s in the top six and on the top power-play unit.
Ryan Donato, Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks might not be a good team, but they are still able to put goals on the board, mainly thanks to Ryan Donato and a few others. Donato in particular, is having a great career year with 29 goals and 59 points in 72 games. He also happens to have six goals and eight points in his last four games, recording a hat trick in one of those games as well.
Donato plays top line with Connor Bedard and on the top power play as well where he has recorded three points in his last four games. He shoots, is physical, and will block some shots on occasion. He is nearly a great all-around player in fantasy hockey this season who should be rostered in more leagues. The Blackhawks play the Avalanche, Washington Capitals, and Pittsburgh Penguins this week. If Donato is available, he is well worth the addition.
Pius Suter, Vancouver Canucks
Elias Pettersson is out with an injury, and Filip Chytil has also been out since before that time, so top line minutes and a big responsibility fell in the lap of Pius Suter. The current Vancouver Canucks’ top center is playing with a hot Brock Boeser and also with Jake DeBrusk, who is performing well also. Suter is also skating on the top power play.
In terms of how he’s doing since taking on a bigger role, Suter has scored two goals and recorded eight points in his last four games. He shoots, hits, and blocks shots, and one of those points came on the power play. Suter has logged over 23 minutes in two of his previous four games, so there’s tons of opportunity for him to produce in all areas. The Canucks play the Seattle Kraken and then have a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights for one final push.
