Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, March 31, 2025. In today’s edition, a wild opening weekend saw many big names injured, such as Jose Ramirez, Trea Turner, and Ryan Walker. How serious are their ailments and what can we expect going forward? That and much more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.
Fantasy Baseball Injury Report
Jose Ramirez – 3B Cleveland Guardians
Vogt said Ramírez remains day to day. He passed all the tests and imaging was negative. Maybe available to pinch-hit today & hopefully ready Monday.
"But we also want to be super cautious with this and make sure it doesn’t turn into something that’s going to linger," Vogt said.

Ramirez injured his wrist while trying to steal a base on Saturday, and the initial worries were that he would miss some time on the Injured List. While technically classified as a sprain, it would appear that most worries are out the window due to him passing every test and imaging examination that was done. Still, as manager Stephen Vogt expressed, this is the time of the year to be cautious, as any early return could mean more damage than what has already been done. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him back in the lineup sooner, rather than later, but chances are he will avoid the Injured List.
Josh Jung – 3B Texas Rangers
Josh Jung is going on the 10-day injured list with neck spasms. Bruce Bochy said they expect it to be around the minimum amount of days
Josh Smith getting banged up last night was the decider.

This was a very disappointing development, as Jung was looking to rebound from last season’s injury-riddled disaster. Back spasms are not usually serious enough to warrant a trip to the Injured List, but these must have been painful. The hope here is that he returns soon, but it’s hard to tell as Jung’s injury history is extensive. Look for Josh Smith to gain an uptick in playing time if and when he’s healthy enough to do so.
Ryan Walker – RP San Francisco Giants
Ryan Walker was dealing with back tightness the last couple days. Giants think he’ll be okay tomorrow.

The news here came as a surprise when Camilo Doval was called in for a save on Sunday. He was successful in saving the game, but it would appear that Walker could be ready as soon as today to play. The hope is that he can avoid a trip to the Injured List, but it seems like he’s been feeling this for a while. He last played on Opening Day.
Tomoyuki Sugano – SP Baltimore Orioles
Orioles' Sugano left the game with cramps, the Orioles announced. A sigh of relief https://t.co/XDv5099Qez

While his early exit was disappointing, the fact that it was for hand cramps is a relief. It was obvious that Sugano wasn’t on his game on Sunday, and this could be the reason why. His status going forward will be something to watch, though Brandon Hyde said after the game that he should be able to make his next start. Time will tell, but for now, it seems like a crisis averted.
Colton Cowser – OF Baltimore Orioles
Orioles’ Brandon Hyde says Colton Cowser’s thumb bent “all the way back” on his slide into first base in the seventh, prompting him to pinch hit Gary Sánchez for him in the ninth.
Jordan Westburg was available only in an emergency situation after being held out of the lineup.

This sounds like an incredibly painful way to exit a game. As of yesterday, he was being examined by the medical staff, and manager Brandon Hyde couldn’t give any information on his status going forward. Stay tuned.
Gunnar Henderson – SS Baltimore Orioles

Henderson played all weekend long, recording at least one hit in each of his rehab games, including this three-run home run. He looks healthy and ready to roll this season. He is first eligible to debut for Baltimore on April 3 and looks ready enough to do just that.
Jonathan India – 2B Kansas City Royals
Update on Jonathan India: #Royals “believe it’s non-concussive, but we’re waiting on some imaging and he will be evaluated further over the next few days,” according to team spokesperson.
— Anne Rogers (@anne__rogers) March 30, 2025
India got hit in the head by a pitch late in the game on Sunday. The good news here is that it is believed to be non-concussive. That being said, there’s no guarantee that he is ready to play anytime soon as he will be evaluated. There is a chance that he misses at least half of a week here, and weekly roster owners have a difficult decision to make. Fantasy owners may want to look elsewhere for this week.
Philadelphia Phillies – Team Update
J.T. Realmuto (bruised left foot) and Trea Turner (back spasms) are feeling better. They’re both getting treatment today. Day to day. A chance they could play tomorrow.
Realmuto could catch today, if needed.
— Todd Zolecki (@ToddZolecki) March 30, 2025
Both Trea Turner and J.T. Realmuto missed action this weekend due to their ailments. Turner suffered back spasms when he was fielding ground balls during a team’s batting practice session. He was unable to return, and there were some reports of him not being ready until at least Wednesday, but his status is more of a day-to-day issue. As for Realmuto, it would appear that he was ready to play yesterday, meaning that his return will be imminent. For both players, fantasy owners are advised to check the lineups before rosters lock.
Spencer Strider – SP Atlanta Braves
Strider's rehab start with Gwinnett tonight: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 60 pitches. Allowed a run in the first and then struck out four of the last nine batters faced. He'll likely make at least two more rehab starts.
— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) March 29, 2025
This was a great outing for Strider, who was able to throw 60 pitches and be efficient in the process. As mentioned here, he likely has at least two more outings to go before a 2025 debut. If that is the case, a mid-April debut is in the cards, making his early-draft season price quite the bargain.
Josh Lowe – OF Tampa Bay Rays
#Rays Josh Lowe says he has a Grade 2 strain in his right oblique, which is more severe than last year’s oblique injury that kept him out multiple months. No timeline on his return.
“It is a little worse than what happened last year,” Lowe said. “Been through it. You know, maybe…
— Ryan Bass (@Ry_Bass) March 29, 2025
Lowe was the first real in-season big name to hit the Injured List this weekend. He injured himself on Opening Day and will miss extensive time with a Grade 2 oblique strain. The unfortunate part of this injury is that it is a recurring one from last season, making it even more frustrating for him and fantasy owners. The Rays did not bring up an impact name such as Eloy Jimenez, so it would appear that they are content to give Kameron Misner and Jake Mangum a chance to play.
