This is the final week for most fantasy hockey leagues and it is also your last chance to add some streamers that’ll change your team’s week for the better this season. A lot of forwards that have been streamed this season have been big hits, and the hope is that all three of these top choices do the same. Here they are.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 25
Boone Jenner, Columbus Blue Jackets
Boone Jenner has been great since hopping into the season late after being injured for the majority of it. He is right back in the top-6 and on the top power play producing while doing everything else you’d want out of a player in fantasy hockey. The veteran has six goals and nine points in his last eight games, and that’s without even recording a point in his last two games.
Despite being held off the scoresheet, he put up 10 shots and four hits, so he is very much worth it even when the Columbus Blue Jackets get shut down offensively. He is on a good line with Sean Monahan and Kent Johnson. You have an advantage if you have a Blue Jackets player this week as the team plays four times, with games against the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, and back-to-back against the Washington Capitals. It isn’t the easiest week, but Jenner will still be able to succeed.
Morgan Geekie, Boston Bruins
Morgan Geekie has greatly benefited from the moves made by the Boston Bruins at the deadline, getting an even bigger role than he’s already been playing this season. His last 10 games have been especially special as he has seven goals and 16 points. He is now one goal away from becoming a 30-goal scorer after his previous high in points was only 39 before this season, and that came last season, also with the Bruins.
Geekie is playing on the top line with Elias Lindholm and David Pastrnak while also skating on the top power-play unit. He has all of the opportunities right now and is making a great case for himself for next season as well, since the Bruins are eliminated from playoff contention. Even though the Bruins aren’t very good, he hasn’t been able to be held off the scoresheet, producing at least a point in nine of his last 10 games. The 26-year-old is on a seven-game point streak as well. The Bruins match up against the New Jersey Devils, Chicago Blackhawks, and Pittsburgh Penguins, so it is a great slate of games this week for him to produce a lot more points.
Kiefer Sherwood, Vancouver Canucks
Kiefer Sherwood has been very impressive for the Vancouver Canucks this season and is one of the only bright spots. He doesn’t stun offensively as he has 17 goals and 37 points this season, but he does have two goals and eight points in his last six games. He has taken on a bigger role lately, and fortunately for fantasy managers, it hasn’t impacted his physicality.
Sherwood set the single-season record in hits a while ago and has 37 hits in his last five games. If hits count towards categories or points, he will single-handedly win that area for your team. The Canucks don’t have the easiest schedule this week either as the team plays the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, and Minnesota Wild, but you know you can at least guarantee a physical game and some shots from Sherwood.
