Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, April 7, 2025. In today’s edition, the Dodgers lost Blake Snell for the time being, the Cardinals lost Ivan Herrera for the next little while, and the Mariners may lose Victor Robles for an extensive period of time. All of that and more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.
Fantasy Baseball Injury Report
Blake Snell – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
Dodgers announce that Blake Snell is going on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. Matt Sauer has been recalled
Snell threw a bullpen session this morning, but had a conversation with trainer Thomas Albert and GM Brandon Gomes afterward
— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) April 6, 2025
This is an unfortunate development for the Dodgers, who need healthy arms to maintain their six-man rotation. Snell was one of their prized off-season additions, and now he will miss at least 15 days because of inflammation in his elbow. The team immediately shut him down when it was revealed to them that he was suffering from this ailment. The Dodgers would be wise to be as cautious as possible here, remembering that playing in October is their main goal. As such, we could see them handling this empty spot in the rotation with bullpen games, sport starts, or a returning Tony Gonsolin. Time will tell.
Royce Lewis – 3B Minnesota Twins
Royce Lewis (hamstring) has been hitting and doing some running, per Derek Falvey.
Falvey: "No change in his status. He just needs to continue to progress."
Lewis is three weeks into his recovery from a moderate hamstring strain. In general, those have a timeline of 6-8 weeks.
— Aaron Gleeman (@AaronGleeman) April 6, 2025
It’s always good to get some sort of update on a player who has a long-standing absence. There hasn’t been much until now, and this may be a case of no news being good news. With regard to Lewis, he is halfway there toward what would be the best-case scenario for a return, but, given his injury history, the eight-week mark would be the likeliest of outcomes here.
Nesor Cortes – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Nestor Cortes said he was more sore than usual and not recovering well after his first start. He had a MRI earlier this week before Thursday’s start but felt well enough to pitch. Timeline TBD, he hopes it will not be a long term injury. He will get a second opinion.
— Sophia Minnaert (@SophiaMinnaert) April 6, 2025
Cortes was placed on the 15-day Injured List on Sunday with an elbow strain. He aggravated it during the season opener and was unable to recover in a way that he normally would have. Additionally, it became incredibly sore this past Friday, and he made the team aware of the situation the next day. The fact that he’s seeking a second opinion speaks volumes about the grim possibilities of the first opinion. Chances are that this is a long-term situation here, with the distinct possibility that we won’t see him pitch again in 2025. Stay tuned.
Brandon Woodruff – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Sim game tomorrow at AmFam, then to Nashville to start a 30-day rehab assignment. https://t.co/Kmlsi687CB
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) April 6, 2025
Brandon Woodruff will likely need most, if not all, of the 30-day window here for his rehab start. There will be many considerations, such as velocity, pitch usage, command, control, and recovery time in between starts. The team will be extremely cautious and won’t want to over-exert him.
Josh Jung – 3B Texas Rangers
The plan is for Josh Jung to start and play third base Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs, per Bruce Bochy. He’ll get a few innings in the field in Frisco today before he travels with the team.

Be prepared!
Victor Robles – OF Seattle Mariners
The Mariners have yet to make a formal move, but Victor Robles is likely to be placed on the IL with a left shoulder injury. Team officials are still determining the severity of the injury.
Dominic Canzone is among the options to be called up. @MLBNetwork @SeattleSports
— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) April 7, 2025
Robles injured himself while making a tremendous catch in the outfield. He was in a lot of pain afterward and needed help off the field. The exact diagnosis and severity of the situation remain to be seen, but it’s enough to warrant time off.
Ivan Herrera – C St. Louis Cardinals
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol on Ivan Herrera to @Buster_ESPN : "Everything came back clean, which is good. It could have been a lot worse. So, he'll miss some time, but we're definitely not looking at anything serious. He'll go on the IL, but it could have been a bad situation."
— John Denton (@JohnDenton555) April 7, 2025
This was an awful situation, as Herrera was having himself an early-season breakout. Instead, he pulled up lame while running and was unable to put any pressure on his knee, and was helped off the field. He was later diagnosed with knee inflammation and will likely be placed on the Injured List before the Cardinals’ next game. Pedro Pages came into the game to replace him, and while he is a better defensive option, Herrera’s offensive production will be missed.
Xavier Edwards – SS Miami Marlins
Weather permitting, Xavier Edwards has been scratched with right knee soreness.
He initially hurt it second game of the season on a comebacker to Gillispie.
Aggravated it yesterday on the slide back to first. #Marlins
— Christina De Nicola (@CDeNicola13) April 6, 2025
This injury could be a reason for Edwards’ slow start to the season, as he hasn’t been able to get on base and move around in the ways we were expecting. There’s a chance that he takes additional time away while being placed on the Injured List, and fantasy managers will want to check for updates before lineups lock today.
Grayson Rodriguez – SP Baltimore Orioles
Grayson Rodriguez throwing regular bullpen session tomorrow. Fastballs and change ups #orioles
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) April 6, 2025
While this is his third bullpen session since the injury, it should be noted that his last bullpen was on Wednesday, making it almost a full week between sessions. The team is taking things slowly with Rodriguez, and he is starting from scratch like it was the beginning of Spring Training. Chances are he doesn’t return until at least May.
Andrew Benintendi – OF Chicago White Sox
Andrew Benintendi left today's game with left adductor tightness. He is day-to-day.
— Chicago White Sox (@whitesox) April 6, 2025
Benintendi had just returned from a major hand injury and may have missed some time with an abductor injury. It’s been a tough career for him as someone who has struggled to remain healthy. Consider him DTD until we hear otherwise.
Alexis Diaz – RP Cincinnati Reds
Terry Francona said Alexis Díaz will pitch a few more times on his rehab assignment. “He needs to be in sync, and he agrees with it.”
“We want him to be our closer, but he needs to be ready to be in the role.”
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) April 6, 2025
Diaz threw his first rehab outing yesterday with mixed results. He had diminished velocity on his fastball and slider, both of which were almost two miles per hour less than their averages last year. He finished at twenty-two pitches, allowing an unearned run, and striking out one batter while walking another. He still has a ways to go before being ready and earning the trust of Terry Francona, who isn’t afraid to look elsewhere within the bullpen for stability.
