NHL Injury Report for November 9
Rasmus Dahlin, D – Buffalo Sabres
Full story on Rasmus Dahlin taking a leave of absence from the Sabres to be with his fiancée as she recovers from a heart transplant: https://t.co/bQDgeaTBIh
— Matthew Fairburn (@MatthewFairburn) November 7, 2025
Dahlin will miss some time. He has returned to Sweden to be with his wife, who received a heart transplant in September. At this point, there is no indication of how long he will be away from the team.
In his absence, Owen Power and Bowen Byram will look to take over duties on the first power play unit. Neither has done much up to this point in the season.
Cole Perfetti, LW/RW – Winnipeg Jets
Now that's worth smiling about 😊

After missing the first 14 games, Perfetti is set to make his 2025-26 season debut. He will start the game on the second line with Jonathan Toews and Vladislav Namestnikov. He will also start on the first power play unit.
At 223 career games, Perfetti has just passed his breakout threshold. He’s primed for a big season if he remains healthy.
Pyotr Kochetkov, G – Carolina Hurricanes

— Carolina Hurricanes (@Canes) November 4, 2025
Kochetkov’s 2025-26 debut was all style. He blanked the New York Rangers 4-0, with a 25-save shutout. His return creates a logjam for the Hurricanes. Last year, Kochetkov and Freddy Andersen, G, split duties. That was the expectation this year, as well. However, the play of Brandon Bussi, during Kochetkov’s absence, created more questions than it answered. He requires waivers to be sent to the AHL. It is exceptionally rare for an NHL team to carry three goalies for any length of time. Keep your eyes on this situation as it unfolds.
In the meantime, expect Andersen and Kochetkov to get the majority of the starts and Bussi to pick up the odd game to keep him fresh.
Patrick Kane, RW – Detroit Red Wings
Patrick Kane is BACK 😤
After missing nine games, Kane returns to the @DetroitRedWings lineup tonight! pic.twitter.com/kde4SugNkA

Kane had five points in five games before the injury. His return was memorable, but not for the right reasons. After stealing the puck from New York Rangers goalie, Jonathan Quick, Kane misses putting it home from six inches.
That aside, Kane returns as a top-six, first power-play fixture for the Red Wings.
Joseph Woll, G – Toronto Maple Leafs
Joseph Woll puts in 36 minutes of work in his first AHL conditioning appearance. Saves 21 of 24 shots (.875) and Marlies trail Lehigh Valley 3-1 after two periods. https://t.co/ykNuerWflu
— luke fox (@lukefoxjukebox) November 9, 2025
Treated like a pre-season game, Woll played just over half of the game in his first start of the season for the Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Don’t expect to see Woll in action for the Leafs right away. With three games this week, the Leafs can afford to give Woll some runway and ramp up his return to the lineup.
His return will reduce the burden Anthony Stolarz has been shouldering so far this season. Expect the friendly rivalry for the starting job to ramp up again this year.
A couple of Pittsburgh Penguins injury updates:
Updated timelines for the @penguins players on IR:
Justin Brazeau: Minimum of 4 weeks (upper-body)
Noel Acciari: Minimum of 3 weeks (upper-body)
Tristan Jarry: Minimum of 3 weeks (lower-body) https://t.co/susE98dAde pic.twitter.com/huwxw4kDJE— Penguins PR (@PenguinsPR) November 5, 2025
Justin Brazeau, RW
Last week, I mentioned Justin Brazeau was day-to-day and hoped the update to come would be good news. It wasn’t, Brazeau will miss at least four weeks. With 12 points in 12 games, Brazeau was having a monster start to the year. This type of injury has derailed surprise breakouts in the past.
Tristan Jarry, G
Jarry was off to an exceptional start to the season with a 5-2 record, 2.60 Goals Against Average (GAA), and a .910 Save Percentage (SV%). He will now miss at least three weeks.
Sergei Murashov was recalled from the Penguins’ AHL affiliate, Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, and made his NHL debut last night, making 24 saves in a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Expect Arturs Silovs, G, to see the lion’s share of starts with Jarry out.
Pierre-Luc Dubois, C – Washington Capitals
#Caps forward Pierre-Luc Dubois underwent surgery on Friday, November 7, to address injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles. Due to the nature of the procedure, Dubois is expected to miss 3-4 months.
— Capitals PR (@CapitalsPR) November 9, 2025
Horrible news for Dubois and Dubois owners. He wasn’t having the best start to the season to begin with. In six games, Dubois had been held pointless.
He underwent surgery on Friday, November 7th, and is expected to miss 3-4 months. I’m not a fan of these types of core injuries. Dubois’ injury was to his abdominal and abductor muscles. I am far from a doctor, but it’s the type of injury where Dubois will return to action fully healed, but not at full strength. Medicine today is incredible, but it’s hard to obtain full recovery and full strength in that time frame.
Seen in non-contact sweaters: (In Canada, we tend to call a jersey a sweater) – Vincent Trocheck, C, New York Rangers, and Jamie Benn, C/LW, Dallas Stars
There is no timetable for either to return to their respective lineups. However, their return to practice is a positive sign.
Trocheck is likely closer to returning. He is currently eligible to come off IR. He’s not quite day-to-day, but he’s getting close. 7-10 is my worst-case scenario.
Whereas Benn is 36 and recovering from a collapsed lung, he has also returned to practice in a non-contact sweater. He did join the Stars on their two-game road trip, so keep an eye on his progress. Expect to see him get at least one full practice in before returning to the lineup.
