It’s the start of the FedEx playoffs this week, with the FedEx St. Jude Championship 2025 at TPC Southwind.
The top 70 qualifying players will compete, with the top 50 advancing to next week’s BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club. The field will then be reduced further to 30 for the Tour Championship between 21st and 24th August.

The overwhelming favorite is world number one and leader in the current FedEx points, Scottie Scheffler (+280). Several big names will need to perform this week, with the likes of Rickie Fowler, Arron Rai, and Tony Finau all outside the current top 50 in the FedEx Cup points standings.
One noticeable absentee is Rory McIlroy; after finishing second-to-last at last year’s championship, he decided not to compete and to rest instead. Luckily for him, he has already accumulated enough points to qualify for the BMW Championship.
The FedEx St. Jude Championship has been hosted by TPC Southwind since 1989, with FedEx as the sponsor since 1986. The transport and logistics company has raised a staggering $38 million for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis during this time.
The course, located on the east side of Memphis, TN, is a par 70 and 7288 yards in length. The 18th hole is a challenging par 4 with water in play for the first two shots, and then a difficult medium-sized green to land on.
Quick Stat
Nine out of the last 12 winners had at least four previous career wins.
Top 3 Picks to Win FedEx St. Jude Championship
Ben Griffin (+4000)
Ben moved up three places to seventh in the scoring average statistics (69.96) after last week’s tied 11th position at the Wyndham Championships. Before the John Deere Classic, he had finished top 15 in his previous six tournaments, which included a win at the Charles Schwab Classic in May. His best year to date could end with a win at the FedEx St. Jude Championship 2025.
Harry Hall (+4500)
A very consistent player who has four top tens, 12 top 25s and missed only three cuts this year on tour. His putting is the reason he’s so consistent and leads the PGA Tour with 62.9 in strokes gained.
Currently in 44th position in the FedEx playoffs, a win will secure his position in the top 30 for the BMW Championship.
Russell Henley (+3000)
Four top ten finishes in his last four tournaments suggest Russell will be near the top, if not top of the leaderboard, come Sunday evening. Having won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, he continues to show why he’s such a talented golfer and is fifth in total strokes gained this season.
Hot Pick
Victor Hovland (+3000)
Having not played since the Open Championship in July, Victor will be hoping the rest will help him secure his second title of the year. His putting has been inconsistent, especially since he sits second in strokes gained when approaching the green. Sort out the putting, and Victor could well be lifting the trophy on Sunday.
