Waiver Wire Winners for Fantasy Football – Week 8
Jaxson Dart (Giants QB)
Jaxson Dart finished with a season-high 28.4 Fantasy Points in Week 7. Dart finished with 283 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, an interception, and a rushing touchdown. Dart has scored over 23 Fantasy Points in back-to-back games, and the dual-threat upside is evident with him producing 10 total touchdowns in four starts.
Oronde Gadsden II (Chargers TE)
Chargers rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden II has finished back-to-back games with seven receptions on 17 total targets, with 68 and 164 receiving yards. A touchdown in Week 7 boosted Gadsden to 29.4 Fantasy Points, on top of a massive yardage day. This guy had two major receiving yard seasons in college, so this sort of production is not a fluke.
Xavier Legette (Panthers WR)
Xavier Legette had the best game of his career in Week 7. The former first-round selection caught nine of his 11 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown, which was 24.2 Fantasy Points. Week 7 was the second game across the last three that Legette scored a touchdown, and the third time across five appearances he earned seven or more targets.
Bam Knight (Cardinals RB)
Bam Knight scored a touchdown in both Week 5 and Week 6, then finished with a season-high 17 touches in Week 7. 57 rushing yards and three receptions were also season-highs. Bam was one touch shy of doubling Michael Carter’s touches, so it is clear he remains “the guy” until Trey Benson returns. Week 8 is a BYE for the Cardinals, but you still should prioritize running backs touching the ball in Fantasy Football.
Sam Darnold (Seahawks QB)
The Seahawks were on a BYE in Week 7, which may have made people forget how solid Sam Darnold has been for Fantasy Football. Darnold has scored 20+ Fantasy Points for two weeks in a row now, and yet again looks good in a new opportunity. Since Week 2, Darnold has averaged 278.2 passing yards, 2.2 passing touchdowns, and 19.2 Fantasy Points.
Mason Taylor (Jets TE)
Mason Taylor has earned seven, 12, and five targets in three of his last four games. Taylor finished with 65+ receiving yards in two of those, and had a season-high 17.7 Fantasy Points back in Week 5. Garrett Wilson missed Week 7 due to injury, but even when he returns, Taylor should be a huge piece of this struggling offense with minimal pass-catchers to compete for targets with.
Troy Franklin (Broncos WR)
Troy Franklin caught three of his 10 targets for 19 yards and scored on a deflected pass in Week 7. Back in Week 2, Franklin caught eight of nine targets for 89 yards and a touchdown, which was 24 Fantasy Points. While the production may be inefficient so far, Franklin can continue to grow as a second-year wide receiver who is a former Oregon teammate of his quarterback, Bo Nix.
Tyler Allgeier (Falcons RB)
Game script is a huge factor in Tyler Allgeier’s use, but when the script is in his favor, he has had some stand-alone value. Allgeier has had four weeks of double-digit touches, two weeks over 50 rushing yards, three weeks with a rushing touchdown, and three weeks of double-digit Fantasy Points. Minimal, Allgeier is an upside handcuff to Bijan Robinson.
Kayshon Boutte (Patriots WR)
Kayshon Boutte scored his fourth touchdown of the season in Week 7, and three of them came across the last two weeks. Boutte produced 103 receiving yards in Week 1, 93 receiving yards in Week 6, has scored 13+ Fantasy Points three times, and 16+ Fantasy Points twice. While the Fantasy production might be up and down, Drake Maye is having an MVP-like season so far so a guy like Boutte with upside attached to Maye is worth rostering.
Darnell Mooney (Falcons WR)
Darnell Mooney’s season has been impacted by injuries, but I still believe he will have eventual FLEX upside. The guy nearly had 1,000 yards just last season. Mooney has finished each of his four games between 10-22.7 yards per catch, and 68 yards in Week 7 was a season-high. Mooney did earn 11 targets in Week 3, and earned five this past game from Michael Penix Jr. Grab him now before he has a big game.
Tre Tucker (Raiders WR)
Tre Tucker has FLEX upside due to his field-stretching skillset. Tucker finished four weeks with 14+ yards per catch, with weeks of 54, 145, 62, and 70 receiving yards so far. Tucker has scored four touchdowns this year and has averaged 5.67 targets across the last three weeks of football. 40.9 Fantasy Points in Week 3 will not be matched again this year, but it shows the ceiling.
Brashard Smith (Chiefs RB)
While rookie Brashard Smith may have earned more work in Week 7 due to the 31-0 Chiefs blowout over the Raiders, he still is a guy worth stashing. Smith rushed 14 times for 39 yards but, more importantly, caught five balls for 42 yards, which was 13.1 Fantasy Points. Smith’s five receptions come after him catching three passes the three previous games in a row, which could be an area he can squeeze in some stand-alone value.
Kyle Monongai (Bears RB)
Rookie Kyle Monangai had season-highs across the board in Week 7, with 13 rushing attempts for 81 yards and a touchdown paired with two catches for 13 yards for 17.4 Fantasy Points. The game script may have increased his role, along with preserving D’Andre Swift, who was questionable heading into this game (but balled out again). Good handcuff to roster here regardless.
Luther Burden III (Bears WR)
Rookie Luther Burden III has had some flashes so far this season, but his role has been inconsistent. Three catches for 101 yards and a touchdown back in Week 3 were 19.8 Fantasy Points, and in Week 6, he caught four passes for 51 yards. I am a believer in the talent, so if Burden grows in this offense, he can be worth the stash later on.
Brian Robinson JR. (49ers RB)
Brian Robinson Jr. has not consistently earned tons of work this season with Christian McCaffrey looking like his old dominant self, but he is worth rostering as a handcuff. BRob is a former starting running back who has had Fantasy impacts, and CMC has missed plenty of time through his career, so stashing is a smart move.
Blake Corum (Rams RB)
Blake Corum finished Week 7 with a season high 12 rushing attempts, which matched Kyren Williams’ rushing total. The Rams smoked the Jaguars 35-7 via five passing touchdowns from Matthew Stafford, which could be an obvious contextual reason here. Corum has flashed some solid rushing efficiency with three weeks ranging from 6.6-13 yards per carry, and his a high-upside handcuff to just stash.
Tyjae Spears (Titans RB)
Tyjae Spears has been creating a committee role in Tennessee with Tony Pollard, via nine and eight touches the last two weeks, playing 59% and 43% of the snaps. Four targets in each of the last two games demonstrates a pass-catching role, and while this Titans offense is rough, he is worth stashing due to his role.
Juwan Johnson (Saints TE)
After three down weeks, Juwan Johnson returned to form in Week 7 with five catches on seven targets for 79 receiving yards, which was 12.9 Fantasy Points. Johnson has finished four weeks with seven or more targets, two weeks over 75 receiving yards, and four weeks with double-digit Fantasy Points. The volume through the air for the Saints, and the relevant Fantasy weeks, make Johnson a viable streamer.
Theo Johnson (Giants TE)
Theo Johnson caught three of his seven targets in Week 7 for 66 yards and a touchdown, which was 15.6 Fantasy Points. Johnson caught six balls with two scores in Week 5 for 21.3 Fantasy Points, and also scored a touchdown in Week 4. Jaxson Dart has looked great, and with no Malik Nabers the rest of the year, there is volume to be had.
Chimere Dike (Titans WR)
Rookie Chimere Dike has been a solid special teams contributor this season, but flashed as a receiver in Week 7. Dike caught all four targets for 70 yards and a touchdown for 16.9 Fantasy Points. Dike has finished five weeks with four or more targets, and can grow in this offense that needs receivers to step up.
Parker Washington (Jaguars WR)
Parker Washington caught four of his 10 targets for 52 yards in Week 7. Brian Thomas Jr. was dealing with a shoulder injury, so if he is to miss time, Washington could be relevant in his absence in deeper leagues. This was also the second game this season that Washington earned double-digit targets,
Jaylin Lane (Commanders WR)
Rookie Jaylin Lane was the leading Commanders receiver in Week 7 with Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel out. Lane caught three of his six targets for 60 yards, which marks his third straight game finishing with 16+ yards per catch. Lane can continue to grow in this Commanders offense, especially if either McLaurin/Deebo misses more time.
