Week 11 NFL Survivor Picks

Well, it’s certainly not getting any easier. Let’s be honest though, if you are reading this article entering Week 11, there’s not much to complain about. Survivor pools are quite rewarding, and it’s hard to beat the intensity, stress, and excitement that they bring.

I’m not sure there’s any good way to describe what happened in Miami this past week. Divisional games can always go either way, but the Buffalo Bills were simply embarrassed. To say that they didn’t show up was an understatement. We can also say the same thing about the Carolina Panthers, who had a terrible home loss to the New Orleans Saints.

It’s important to remember that we aren’t after style points here; just victories. From that standpoint, the Denver Broncos delivered last week, but it couldn’t have made you feel good. The hope now is that Week 11 treats us better. Let’s not delay as we jump into our Week 11 NFL Survivor Picks.

Week 11 NFL Survivor Picks

New England Patriots vs. New York Jets – Patriots -13.5

It can’t be this easy, can it? Everything points to an easy victory for the New England Patriots this week, but could it be a trap game?

The New York Jets are terrible, and that might be putting it nicely. However, they are in the midst of a two-game winning streak. It’s a divisional game, and New York is hungry, but they’re also overmatched. Our biggest concern is whether or not the Patriots overlook the Jets on a short week. With the Patriots on a seven-game winning streak, it shouldn’t happen, but survivor pools tend to defy logic.

If we are going to look at things from a worst-case perspective, then that’s Denver’s home victory last week over the Las Vegas Raiders. Everything is working perfectly for Drake Maye and the Patriots as he’s emerging as an MVP candidate. Maye is up to 2,555 passing yards and 19 touchdowns this season while also being a threat on the ground. We also had rookie TreVeyon Henderson truly emerge last week in what was a long-expected dominant game.

On the other side of the field, Garrett Wilson is out for a Jets team that is last in the NFL with 144 passing yards per game. It’s Breece Hall and nothing else as the Jets haven’t shown confidence in Justin Fields.

There’s no way the Jets win three games in a row, right? As I make my survivor picks, I’m going with the better team and more experienced head coach, and not expecting their winning streak to continue. We also have doubts about some of the other games, so that helps sway things.

Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans – Texans -6.5

Who the starting quarterback is often plays a large part in survivor picks. In this situation, though, I’m not sure that it does or should. While CJ Stroud battled a concussion last week, Davis Mills led the Houston Texans to an exciting victory. This week, Houston faces a Tennessee Titans defense that’s ranked 30th with 29 points allowed per game.

On the other side of the ball, things aren’t much better for the Titans’ offense. They are last in the NFL with just 14 points scored per game. That’s not a recipe for success in any game, but this week it’s even worse against the Texans. Based on both points (17) and yards (280) allowed per game, Houston has the best defense in the league. Both of those line things up nicely for a Texans victory.

Green Bay Packers at New York Giants – Packers -6.5

At 5-3-1, and third in the NFC North, this is a must-win game for the Green Bay Packers. It does feel a little exaggerated saying it at this point in the season, but after losing their last two games, the Packers don’t exactly have a choice. Especially considering they lost both games at home. They followed up an upset at the hands of the Carolina Panthers with a lackluster effort against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.

Teams sometimes get a bump after firing a head coach, but the Giants’ problems, at least initially, run deeper than Brian Daboll. That’s not to suggest that Daboll was innocent, far from it in fact, but there are major questions with the Giants’ defense. They rank 29th in total yards against and 27 points scored, and that doesn’t do them any favors.

The other problem is that with Jaxson Dart out with a concussion, the tone will be a lot different for the Giants. Can we trust Jameis Winston to come in cold against one of the better defenses in the league? It’s not something I feel confident in when making my survivor picks.

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns – Ravens -7.5

What did we say about starting quarterbacks? With Lamar Jackson missing practice again on Wednesday with a knee injury, there is some concern about his status for Week 11. This is also a situation in which the Baltimore Ravens might feel confident enough in their chances for victory that they tread carefully with Jackson.

Now that Tyler Huntley is in place as the backup, there is less concern than when Cooper Rush was under center. While the Cleveland Browns defense has been stingy with the second fewest yards allowed, they are in the middle of the pack with 23 points allowed per game. Despite Jackson’s injury issues, Baltimore is still scoring 25 points per game, so they have an edge.

It is a primetime, divisional matchup, and the Ravens are on the road, but I still don’t have confidence in the Browns. They lost to the Jets last week, and their offense has not been good. Overall, they are scoring 16 points per game, and Dillon Gabriel isn’t going to beat Tyler Huntley, let alone Lamar Jackson.
