Week 12 Recap

We had a great slate of calls in our Week 12 article, with three of our picks finishing in the Top-10 of all quarterbacks.

Jacoby Brissett was the QB #7, throwing for over 300 yards yet again. He only had one touchdown, but he helped his totals with 20 yards on the ground. He has a plus matchup against the Bucs in Week 13, but then a brutal game against the Rams in Week 14.

Sam Darnold was next at QB #8. While he only had 244 yards, he had two touchdowns to JSN.  He has the Vikings and the Falcons on the horizon, meaning he could be a decent QB start for the remainder of the season.

Jared Goff rounded out our trifecta as the QB #9. His 279 yards and two touchdowns would have been enough to get him at the top of our list, but an interception dropped him down a few pegs. He gets the Packers on Thanksgiving, which should be avoided, but a nice matchup with the Cowboys in Week 14 if you need a starter in the finale.

Finally, Brock Purdy was our lone bust on Monday night. The Niners won, and Purdy wasn’t all bad, but three early interceptions tanked any chance of a good fantasy week. Some rust shouldn’t be entirely unexpected, and better weeks are likely ahead.

Full Season Tally: 30-20

Let’s see if our Week 13 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers can keep these wins coming!

Week 13 Quarterback Sleepers

Joe Burrow/ Joe Flacco, Cincinnati Bengals QB @ Baltimore Ravens

Yo Joe! Or rather, Yo Joes? Whichever of the Cincinnati Joes gets the nod on Thanksgiving night, I think they’ll be one of the top Quarterbacks of the week.

If the game weren’t on a Thursday, I would assume that Burrow would be making his return in this one. He handled all of the first team reps leading up to Week 12, which would imply that he’s close. The team may feel it’s safer to give him the extra rest after a short game week, though. The AFC North is technically still up for grabs, so it will all come down to who the coaches feel gives them the best chance to win in this divisional matchup.

That means if it’s Burrow, he’s close enough to full health to throw him back out there. If it’s Flacco, it will likely be his last week, assuming the Bengals win. Either way, you want the starting Joe in your Week 13 lineup.

The Baltimore defense looks much better than it did at the start of the season. They are coming off six straight games of giving up 19 points or fewer. Five of those games are against bottom-half offenses, though. They still let Tyrod Taylor throw for 222 yards last week, so they haven’t fixed all the holes just yet.

The Bengals will be getting Ja’marr Chase back from his one-game suspension, but will likely be without Tee Higgins, who finds himself in the concussion protocol on a short week. Obviously, you’d prefer to have both in this one, but if you had to choose, of course, you’d take Chase.

Cincinnati will need to throw. Flacco has averaged about 42 pass attempts per game in his 6 starts with the Bengals. I expect the same plan for when Burrow returns. There’s also a decent chance they go over that mark in what could be a holiday barn burner.

Hopefully, if you held on to Burrow, you also grabbed Flacco. If not, there’s a good chance he’ll hit the waiver wire after two down games. Whichever one gets the start should also be a strong fantasy start.

Bo Nix, Denver Broncos QB vs. Washington Commanders

It may not feel like it, but Nix is currently the QB #10 on the season. It hasn’t been a particularly smooth ride to get here, with five of his games scoring less than 13.5 fantasy points. Four of his games have gone for over 20 points, though, including a 40-point outing in Week 7 against the Giants.

The Commanders, meanwhile, have been on a six-game losing streak. They have given up at least 25 points in five of those games, including two 44-point outings by the Cowboys and Lions. They also give up the fourth most passing yards per game in the league.

Denver’s defense, on the other hand, should give its offense plenty of time on the field. The big worry is that Washington can’t keep this competitive, but luckily, the Broncos don’t let up even if they do get a big lead.

Volume will be crucial for Nix to succeed. He has attempted 37 or more passes in over half of his games this season. Current starting RB, R.J. Harvey, is more of a weapon through the air than he is on the ground. The team still has Courtland Sutton and second-year player Troy Franklin has really stepped his game up. While short-yardage throws are the name of the game in Denver, there should be plenty of them.

Week 13 Quarterback Streamers

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars QB @ Tennessee Titans

We haven’t had a great track record when recommending T-Law this season, but hopefully the Titans can break our streak of bad luck.

Tennessee has given up 30 or more points five times this season. Given how bad the team is, it feels like this number should be higher. It really represents how most teams are able to get an early lead and milk the clock away, though.

That’s not really the Jags’ game, as they run the third most plays-per-game in the league. They are also a top-half team when it comes to pass attempts per game. They also have a knack for letting other teams stay close, so running out the clock may be less of an option.

Our hope is that Brian Thomas is able to return for this one, but even if he doesn’t, newly acquired Jakobi Meyers has shown real chemistry with Lawrence in his two games with the team. Travis Etienne is also having a career year and has the potential to rip off big screen plays.

So, Lawrence has the weapons, the game script, and a terrible defense to play against. What could go wrong? History would probably tell us “everything.” I’m willing to bet this turns out to be his best game for 2025, though.

Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons QB @ New York Jets

Try as they might to keep him off the field, Kirk Cousins is once again the starting quarterback for the Falcons.

He had a decent showing against the Saints in Week 12, for his second start of the season. His first start against Miami was a train wreck.

Atlanta seems content to rely on the run with Kirk under center. They’ve allowed him 31 and 23 pass attempts in his two starts, respectively. Part of this may be due to the fact that Drake London was sidelined in both. It’s uncertain if he’ll be able to suit up in this one.

We would obviously feel better about Cousins if he had his start WR, but he doesn’t hyper-target one guy like Penix does. Cousins likes to spread the ball around, and against the Jets defense, he should be able to.  He also has one of the best backfields in the league, and both Robinson and Allgeier can hit some home runs in the passing game.

The hope here is that the Jets can do enough to keep this one close. The Falcon’s defense has failed to show up a number of times against lesser opponents this season. That could certainly happen again here.

Cousins is a last resort option (for both you and Atlanta), but if you have to play him, he should have a decent enough floor to keep you in your matchup.
