Week 14 Recap

We had a strong showing in Week 14, with 75% of our QB calls bringing home the W!

Sam Darnold was our best call, rewarding our faith after a string of bad performances. He rebounded on Sunday with 249 yards and three touchdowns for 22 fantasy points.

Jordan Love also kept up his hot streak. If you listened to us and played him, you were rewarded with 234 yards and three touchdowns of his own.

Finally, Jared Goff found us our last W, even though it wasn’t the blowout against Dallas we hoped for. Even though the Lions scored over 40 points, I guess that’s what happens when the team gets four rushing touchdowns.

Our lone bad call was the Washington quarterbacks. Even if you combine their totals, you wouldn’t hit double digits. We’ll need to stay tuned to see if Jayden Daniels has played his last snap of the year.

Full Season Tally: 36-22

Let’s keep the W’s coming in the playoffs with our Week 15 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers.

Week 15 Quarterback Sleepers

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB vs. Atlanta Falcons

Baker hasn’t lived up to his pre-season expectations so far this year, turning in mostly good but not great performances. He’s struggled even more as of late, turning in an 11 fantasy point performance against the Saints last week. The Bucs are now in a must-win scenario every week, but luckily, pressure seems to fuel Baker.

Mayfield is still the engine of the team. He’s thrown for 30 attempts or more in 7 of 13 games this season. Three of those games produced over 40 attempts. He’s also averaged just over five rushing attempts over the past four weeks.

The team is also getting healthier as a whole. Bucky Irving is back to leading the backfield, and Chris Godwin has led the team’s receivers the past two weeks. Mike Evans should return this week. Emeka Egbuka is the big question mark. He seems to have the yips after his hot start to his rookie season. The Bucs will need him to find the spark again to make a run.

On the other side, Atlanta has been struggling on defense. They are still a top-half defense in terms of passing yards allowed, but they are a bottom-half defense over the past three weeks. With Kirk Cousins leading them on offense, they aren’t able to stay on the field as much.

Expect Baker to sling it in this divisional matchup. The team needs the win, and he’ll play to the very last second.

Jaxson Dart, New York Giants QB vs. Washington Commanders

Dart has one of the best fantasy playoff schedules out there. While it may be hard to throw out a rookie with confidence when it matters most, there’s good reason to.

Out of his eight starts, he’s had 29 or more pass attempts in half of them. He also averages over seven rushing attempts and 42 rushing yards per game. While we feared the team might limit his rushing after the Week 10 concussion, he didn’t change his style at all when he returned against the Patriots.

The offense is as healthy as it’s going to be. Wan’Dale Robinson serves as an adequate possession receiver, while Darius Slayton is a decent enough deep threat. Even against the Commanders, they should need to push downfield to score.

Speaking of the Commanders, they give up the third most passing yards and passing touchdowns in the league. They are also struggling to stay on the field on offense. The Giants should have the ball plenty against them.

With an extra week of rest separating Dart from his brain injury, expect to see him back to his free-wheeling self. The Giants have nothing to play for except pride, but that’s been the case all season, and they haven’t let up yet.

Week 15 Quarterback Streamers

Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks QB vs. Indianapolis Colts

It might feel like low-hanging fruit to go back to Darnold this week, but he’s only had back-to-back 20 fantasy point games once this season.

While he’s mostly been playing well, the team hasn’t needed him to be great, as they are fueled by their defense. His passing volume has taken a serious dip in the second half of the season compared to the first. His rushing attempts have rebounded up over the past five weeks, though.

The Colts will be without Daniel Jones moving forward. With a rookie under center, the Seattle defense should dominate this game for all sixty minutes. While they shouldn’t need Darnold to do much here, he will have plenty of opportunities to rack up points.

Seattle is in one of the tightest playoff races in the league against the Rams. I expect Seattle to use this game to test out some different plays in order to get their offense back on track. Even if they are up big, they may elect to keep throwing to help Darnold get his groove back. The Indy defense has struggled recently and should provide a soft matchup to help that effort.

I wouldn’t expect Darnold to have a monster game, but if you just need a high floor that won’t sink your team, you’ll be in the same boat as Seattle. They trust him, so should you.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars QB vs. New York Jets

Don’t look now, but T-Law is on a bit of a tear. It hasn’t been the prettiest thing to watch, as he only has one game with over a 70% completion rate all year, but since he hit that in Week 5, he’s had five games with over 19 fantasy points.

Since coming off their Week 8 bye, Lawrence is averaging over five rushing attempts. He’s also had 220+ passing yards in four games over that stretch, with multiple passing touchdowns in three.

In Week 15, they get to take on the Jets, who are one of the worst teams in the league, and may be on their third-string QB. The Jags defense is already solid, but should look elite here. Lots of turnovers should mean great field position. Jacksonville has gotten to some big leads recently and has shown that it won’t let up on offense.

Lawrence hasn’t historically been the most trustworthy quarterback, but when someone’s on a heater, it’s usually best to ride it out. He’ll have plenty of time with the ball and has the weapons to make it work. He’s been a borderline QB1 all year, and there’s no reason to think that changes here.
